Whoever wrote the article wrote, "not carrying his normal belly putter", didn't know he used a "belly" putter?

Seems like press can't get it right, he has a long putter or broomstick.

Funny / sad thing about the view on Adam Scott's putting is all the whing at the british about his "long" putter but a cross word wasn't spoken about Ernie Els and his belly putter. This whole subject is getting old, why can't the USGA just let people play golf? Some of the best putters in the world still use the short putter, but guess it gives them a reason to justify their jobs.

Good article from the Daily Telegraph. I see he's sticking with his 910 driver too...

Good eye, I'm surprised by this quite a bit. Adam doesn't have a single 913 club in his bag (Driver, Fwy, hybrid or irons; all 910/710). Perhaps he didn't wanna mess with a good thing during his run after the Open Championship. Or perhaps for him the difference is negligable. I haven't thought of AS as a ho over the years, he likely just doesn't switch things up much.

His contract up at the end of the year? I know his last deal was done on 09. If so maybe he didn't want to change to 913 to change again?

Maybe he's going to Nike?

As others have said, good to see he's just moving on and trying to prepare his game for the rule change. I hope he can find another putting style that works for him. The long putter put him back on the map and I hope he can stay there once the rule change happens. It does make you wonder, what does this do to all the records and stats of the players who have used them for a large part of their careers. Bernard Langer comes to mind. What about another Aussie, Peter Senior? He's been using the long putter since I can remember. I wonder how these high profile senior tour players are going to fair with the rule change. Could end their careers which would be a shame. Big decision by the USGA and the R&A..........only time will tell what it means for the game as a whole.

I hope he is able to figure it out and find something else that really works for him. It would be great to see him find something that really works that will eventually bring him that elusive major. He seems to be such a classy guy and you have to give him props for the way he handled himself after The Open Championship this year.

Looks like he's going to stick with the old putter for the tournament.

Still, if he's had it made up and is using it in practice it probably won't be too long before it makes an appearance in competition.

Feel sorry for the guy. I think the long putters shouldnt be banned. At least Scott is accepting the change and not fighting it. Good sportsman ship will win him more tourneys than with a long putter.
Is that a golo center shaft?

I've been wrong all along! I always thought the lowest score won. :busted2:

Guys, he was just practicing on the green with it... Players arent aloud by the USGA to use this fitting type of putter during a tournament. This because these putters are way too easy change in length. the ping nome belly instead is aloud because you can lock the thing with the wrench that comes with it.

I think the important change in the style he is using with this new putter is the left elbow/arm being held tight to his left side.
In this manner, you just turn your body slightly and the arm anchors to the body thereby allowing the putter to swing.
Pull your 5 iron out and try it! Works great.
Since the USGA allows the elbows to be anchored to the side of the body...see photos....he has found a nice way to putt!

An entire practice round was my understanding. But yes, not for official score in a tournament round ( allowed )

Can't believe this is an easier conversion than just moving his left hand an inch or two (maybe shortening the shaft in the long run) with the broomstick.

His stroke is so totally from the shoulder rock that I've always felt it is borderline to call it 'anchored' anyway.

Could even a pro fall for the 'long putters are banned' headlines to some degree??

For such a beautiful swing, wish he could just putt well with a standard putter.
I know what you mean mate, but I believe he's won 19 times as a pro and 16 have been with a short putter, including TPC.

Seems to me he just doesn't have those terrible putting days that he used to throw in quite often. His bad days are a lot better with the long putter which no doubt has helped his confidence and allows him to putt a lot more aggressively rather than trying to lag it close. Watching him some of those old days was painful - trying to lag 12 footers because he didn't want to deal with a 3 footer coming back.
