Played 18 in a simulator yesterday and was able to hit the 3w with both the p95x and the rogue black 80x quite a bit. The rogue was consistently 10-15 yards farther than the p95 according to the simulator and seemed to be more accurate as well. This does not bode well for the shootout with the P95X. Granted it was only a simulator, but its 24*F outside with 22mph winds and feels like 9* right now so outdoor experience is a couple months away at best right now. Time shall tell.

Also found a killer deal for a Covert 2.0 driver head that I plan on shafting up with a Diamana D+ 72s that ive got laying around just for giggles. probably will be for sale in a month anyways but the trade in value was higher than what I paid for the head. cant go wrong there. I might even be able to package the driver, covert 3w, vr pro blades and vr forged wedges together for some nike obsessed club fanatic. anyways, I digress...

honestly, id KILL to move to a warmer climate. I played well over 50 rounds of golf last year as it was and im jonesing to play again already. I spend more time on this website in the winter than I do sleeping. its bordering on an obsession so hopefully ill be able to "scratch my itch" here soon enough!

I got the covert tour 2.0 back from the shop today shafted up with a Diamana D+ 72s tipped .5" at 44.5". I hit a few shots with it in the balmy 18*F weather we've got going on right now . Its louder than I remembered it being and much more punishing on mishits than the 915 ive got, so ill be looking to move this along rather quickly. If anyone's seen mother nature lately, tell that old hag to send a little heat towards NY

Gotta say when it read the first sentence I was shocked. Following this WITB thread i though you were 14 clubs of all Titleist. So seeing the Covert 2.0 threw off lol.

They have hitting bays at exit 8 are heated right? Although I imagine 18* makes hitting balls even in a heated stall tough. I might of already asked this but do they have a launch monitor? I started playing like 25 years ago but have never been on a real LM before (I'm 33 now). I've hit on simulators but never a Trackman, Flightscope, or other big name LM. I'd love to win that give away right now with the portable LM.

Yes they have heated stalls outside BUT the range this time of year has a brutal headwind that blows directly into the bay pretty much negating the "heat".

They do also have a brand new flight scope and I was their first customer fitted with it actually for my 915D2. If you do go in there the only guys I'd talk to for a real fitting would be Mark or Rob. And as for club work, Joe is the man.

I'm crossing my fingers for the ES14 giveaway as well. I just got a new indoor/outdoor hitting net and mat setup that the ES14 would complete nicely. Guess we wait til the 20th to find out who the lucky ones are!

My buddy just texted me about the huge demo day Exit 8 has in the third or fourth week of April. I'm pretty psyched to actually be able to see AND actually hit all the new offerings. Our DSG does not carry any Pings either, driver or irons. Then only drivers are like the 460's (SLDR 460, R15 460, Cally BB,, they did have one or two Alpha's, CT 2.0 but no Tours, etc.) never Bstone, Mizuno, Tour Edge, and others like that have never been available either. Lol I was psyched to just see Mizzy 825 Pro's today. So needless to say I'm really looking forward to this demo day :-D

My buddy said there is a guy there that really knows his sh!t. He said and I quote "the little guy who's sponsored by Nike". Is that either a Rob or Mark that you were talking about?

Not that im aware of. Honestly, if you were going to be fit by anyone there, on the technical aspect of things id suggest you go and ask specifically for Rob. Tell them that Travis told you to go see them and they will know who you're talking about. (yes, im there that frequently) I should probably just apply to work there part time so I could get a discount on equipment but whatever. they usually have a great selection of all the new clubs, the only stuff they tend to be behind on is the tour edge exotics stuff. that's all usually one cycle behind because it doesn't move off the shelves as fast as PING, Titleist or the like. When you decide you wanna head down for the Demo day hit me up on here and ill meet up with you there and maybe we can play 18 afterwards if its a weekend or something! always up for meeting new people off here!

Yeah that sounds good, definitely.

I think I'm going to try Cool Clubs and have them build my new set. I got the heads, shafts, grips and just got some more ferrules from Cell Parts. Now I just need a quick lie angle fitting.

Stopped in to Dicks sporting goods tonight and picked up a dozen of the 2015 V1x's. Compared chipping in my living room between the 2014 V1x, the 2015V1x and the Titleist ---Test--- balls I received last year to try out. The 2015 feels nearly identical to the test ball. Id have to assume the test ball was retail ready by the time they sent it out for trials. The 2015, at least on 15-20 foot chips feels a bit softer than the 2014 model. Ive got about 5 dozen of the 2014's in the bag right now, a dozen 2015's and a dozen b330S balls I was trying for a while last year. With any luck I should be set for the year as far as balls go.

As far as clubs go, I stopped into the Golf Dome at Turning Stone casino last weekend and started rolling a few putts with a Scotty X5R and fell in love with the feel. My old faithful SS Squareback #2 is in trouble....

Also have been on the fence about irons. I know for a fact I want the 714 Ap2's but have been insure as far as shaft selection and set make up. As of right now i'm heavily leaning towards TI X100's straight in, but the other contender is the KBS Tour V 120X. As far as set make up I've got a 712U 4i with the KBS Tour V 120X in it so id be looking at either 5-9 with a 46* SM5 Vokey or just 5-pw in the Ap2. (suggestions appreciated)

The BST mostly. That list didn't even include the Rombax P95x I picked up either for the 3w. So far, the 125MSI Rogue for the driver and the 95MSI rogue / D+ 80 in the 3w have been the best feel/ performers thus far. The "losers" of my shaft shootout will all be for sale soon as well

the rogue has a smoother feel with a bit higher launch, the D+ is lower spin and better for pure distance. im also very used to the D+ profile as I played the d+82 in my 913Fd for the past couple years. The launch monitor shootout will end up determining which I ultimately end up gaming long term.

ive played all over the capital district. frear park, van patten, eagle crest, Saratoga lake, Saratoga spa, fairways of halfmoon, airway meadows, kingswood, Mohawk river...

I played several of the nys amateur series tournaments last year as well. kaluhyat at turning stone, Bellevue country club, country club of troy, Mohawk country club, Tuscarora, en joie golf club, colonie country club, the sagamore, and cedar lake club as well.

I played Cobleskill country club, leatherstocking in cooperstown, the links at Hiawatha, Conklin players club, and also made a trip to Plymouth mass to play pinehills Nicklaus course all for fun or random other invite tournaments.

I guess I like my variety haha. 23 different courses played that I can remember off the top of my head. and at least 60 rounds played last year.

Does Northway 8 have a good selection of iron shafts for that sort of testing? I bought Pings there 10 years ago or so (i3 or i5 can't remember which) but just went stock so I can't remember what they had. Only reason I ask is that I'm pretty sure Anders at Saratoga National could get (or has) a bunch of shafts for the 714 AP2's you mention; he's Titleist staff. Also he has a launch monitor and you can hit outside. Obviously wouldn't be a far trip for you and he does fittings. Good luck!

Northway has a flightscopex2 and a decent amount of shaft options to try...r300, s300, x100, c taper, project x, graphite options, but they don't have the tour V as an available option to try. ive hit the tour v 120X as I bought the 712U 4i off J.W. on here with it. I love the feel of the KBS but the x100's have just been money every time ive hit them so I feel that's the way im leaning. irons are getting ordered tomorrow whether its via discount dans, or northway. Discount dans quoted me over $100 cheaper for the order im looking at so im leaning that way

I read a thread in like the middle of summer about a company that tests just shafts. They said the difference they found between the Tour and Tour V shafts was like 200-300 RPM's max. Which I was kinda shocked at the slight difference in spin (I'll see if I can find the thread for you). When they Tour V came out I was very interested in them, but then decided if I was going to go with KBS it would of been the C tapers. Instead I settled on regular PX.

Are you trying to knock off spin? If so I'm guessing the DG Tour would be the way to go out of those two shafts. Do you know when the next AP2's are supposed to be released? And lastly those MB's you have are just awesome looking. Wish I could play blades.

im not really looking for any one thing in particular numbers wise. ive been gauging by ball flight, dispersion and feel.
ive been LOVING the feel of the x100's so i really think thats the way im going.
