Just walked in the door from work and had 2 packages waiting for me.
I opened up box #1 and it was my new SM5 gap wedge from discount dans. I don't even recall receiving a tracking number or notification that it had even shipped but shes here and OH so beautiful!

Box #2 contained my new "flatstick". The 35" Scotty Cameron Futura X5r and she has a black SuperStroke Slim 3.0 on her and also the original "matador" grip in the box incase I wanted to switch it back.

There's one more package out there in "USPS land" containing my 915F 13.5* that I am waiting on and I expect to see Thursday most likely as its coming to NY from San Francisco. plenty of shaft options to try out!

ohhhh yeahhhh and I did make a little side deal with Joey2Aces... he may or may not have made a purchase for a 125MSI rogue 70TX but its the head that's attached to it that ill be getting off him...just for trial purposes. we'll see if that ever makes the bag, but im not spilling anything on that til its been tried and tested against my 915's...

With the new clubs arriving today I figured id take a few shots and post them up here for posterity and to serve as my crowning achievement. I'm very proud of how this bag turned out. this is literally everything and then some of what I could dream up to be ready for the 2015 season.

Honestly, when it came to the hybrid the 913Hd 20* with my d+92 was 10 yds longer and more accurate than the 915H 18*. no reason to switch it out as its in MINT condition and works beautifully for me.

Another brand!? BLASPHEMY! haha. I honestly never liked the look of pom covers. I feel it looks like someone stitched a winter hat tight and threw it on a golf club... just not my cup-o-tea. I'm sure if I was all THAT concerned about it I could just find a 915h head cover on the bay or something but its not really a big deal for me. I'm really anxious to see the numbers from the 915F 3+ ive got coming. I was only able to test the 15* before I put this bag together and im able to get it out 260+ with the 15* turned down to 14.25* with the Rogue black 80x.... I think off the tee the 13.5* turned down to 12.75* with the Diamana D+80 could yield some 280+ yd 3w's. The 915D2 9.5 with 125MSI Rogue was giving me some readings on Flightscope of 317 carry 342 total after roll out 117mph club speed and 1850 spin.... its gonna be a damn good year.

I received a specialized bag accessory tonight from a good friend whose just getting his business off the ground called HK Slings (Hard Knox Slings). They normally specialize in archery wrist slings. Everything is made from 550lb tensile strength parachute cord in just about any color you can think of. I had spoken with him for a bit about possibly making a decorative bag clip that I could attach my club brush or a towel to that'd be more eye catching than a phone wire. After determining length and colors desired he presented me today with the end results.

 

 

 

 

Mine is 10" long with retractable clips on either end. The red/black/blue color scheme was laid out perfectly. I'm thrilled with how it turned out and cant wait for the weather to break here in NY to get out on the course now.

 

The Black Sling was made for none other than Joey2Aces on here as a personal favor as well. That one was requested to be 8" and just solid black (Really joe? Live a little) and turned out just as nice.

Today my 915F 3+ 13.5* arrived here off the BST and I set it up with the D+80 shaft in the D2 position (12.75* loft and 1.5* upright)... Cant wait to get to a range and try hitting this thing!

Mystery club testing to commence tomorrow. It will be getting the Fubuki Tour 73s tipped 1.5" in it at 45". Also will be less than 460cc as a bit of a spoiler. Its going to have to be very good to knock my 915D2 out of the bag.

We live less than 20 miles away from each other, so I know you've not been out playing around here recently. Unless you spent three weeks playing in FL; how could you knock the 915 out of the bag already?

HAHAHA the mystery club was not a Titleist... I took a temporary trip to the dark side and picked up a 12* SLDR 430TP Toe screw from Joey2aces on here and put the Fubuki Tour in it. Sunday was above freezing for only the 3rd time this month (albeit by only a couple degrees. it was 35*F on the range)
Couple things I noticed... #1 I've apparently gone from hitting a consistent repeatable fade to a big draw somehow over the winter. I was quite shocked at seeing this as ive NEVER hit a draw off the tee in my life, especially with any kind of repeatability. and #2 the SLDR when hit on the screws is long...I mean stupid long. the problem however lies within the misses... when I got it out on the toe I could hit my hybrid farther. the 915 was much more consistent especially with my off season swing which is far from good form at the moment. catching shots all over the face but with little penalty in comparison to the 910d3 and SLDR. The SLDR will get a shot once it warms up on a rather open course to prove itself in a practice round or 2 but if it doesn't translate into better scoring potential, the 915 will remain in the bag and the SLDR, 910D3 and 913D2 will all be for sale.

The 714Ap2's I picked up were also apparently completely the wrong lie angle for me. I play my irons 2.5-3* upright, had the lie angles checked and found they were all between 1-1.5* flat. had all the irons bent to the proper spec and hit them a bit on the range as well... nothing like a smooth 150yd 9iron in 35* temps that comes off a hair thin.. (ouch)

I saw today about the possible release of the D4.. if that is released to the general public I might just pick one up and see if I can get along with it. already have the rogue 125 so it could be a deadly long combo... ahh the possibilities!

That SLDR will be tormented as the misfit by the rest of the clubs in your bag until it has no choice but to stop performing for you to survive.

I've pretty much finalized the bag with the only question mark being what shaft makes the grade in the 3w.
From top to bottom of this bag, right down to the bag itself I am 100% happy and content otherwise. I'm having a difficult time with the feel of the 3w shaft and how they are loading. I was not getting along with the rombax p95x at all and the Fubuki K was not as tight dispersion wise as I'd like to see. The rogue black 80x feels solid but has been hook prone on the range for me thus far in the limited time I've it it. That's left the d+80s. I played the d+82s in my 913Fd the last couple years and loved it but this new d+ feels softer almost and feels like it can't keep up. I'm hesitant to order the d+80x without hitting it first and no one locally has one to take for a proverbial test drive. I may just have to bite the bullet on this and order it anyways.
The driver has been simply fantastic on the range in the limited time I've hit it. The performance and feel of the 125 rogue is second to none.

The 913Hd hybrid is pretty much old faithful at this point. Point and shoot and I know its going to fly about 215-220 on my line.

712U 4i with the tour v 120x has been very solid. I love the feel off this club. Almost wish I kept my 712U 2i and reshafted it but that's life I guess.

The Ap2's are fantastic. A bit higher flight than I've been used to seeing but maintaining the same distance gaps and more forgiving than a set of 712Mb's.

Wedges... Tour chrome SM5's. As reliable as a swiss time piece... Or as easy to count on as joey2aces ho'ing a set of irons at least 3x a year. ( he's already on set #2 and he hasn't played a round yet)

The putter... Well.. I got me the futura x5r with a superstroke 3.0 on her.. In the process of screwing with the paintfill but that's purely out of boredom. Damn 40* isn't warm enough... Come on mother nature u miserable old bitty! Warm up already!

I'm awaiting the arrival of a Titleist adapter to put on the chrome to give her a test drive pretty soon in the 915D2.

I've been hitting the 714 AP2's on the range here and seeing a significantly higher flight than anything I've ever hit with my 712MB's, yet appear to be maintaining the same yardages. I'm not sure whether I like this or not quite honestly. I'm sure it will help with holding the greens when hit, but I'm worried about how they will play in windier conditions.

I placed my order for the Titleist personalization deal for buying 3 dozen ProV1x's get one free.... play #92 (my old hockey number) with "Travis" in red ink. that should square me away for the year as far as balls and equipment (hopefully).

NYSGA Tournament #1 of the year is exactly 1 month from today and there's still snow piles in my yard 2' deep. we need a significant warm up and fast. supposed to be 46* out here today so I hear so perhaps that will aid in the melting process.

The d+80s has felt soft and whippy causing a few too many wayward shots even on the driving range. this should be a go-to club to guarantee you hit a fairway and with as many shots going right/left on the range I just don't have the confidence in it to be reliable in a tournament round.

 

The Rogue Black 95msi 80X has been more hook prone than Julia Roberts in pretty woman. I don't know if its my tempo or what the case is with this shaft but its just not working for me. going to give the Elements Chrome a shot at things and see how that shakes out.

Pants that were normally 65$ ea. and shirts were usually $40+.. I got it all for $107 out the door. definitely ready for the season to start here in NY now.

Definitely curious to know what you think of the chrome. I was playing an Ilima 70S in my SLDR 15* fairway, but bought an Ahina 70S to try too. I'm hoping for some good success withe the Ahina.

 

Me and wifey were planning on doing an over night in Lake Goerge and hitting the Izod store to get me some new shirts and shorts fir golf. Do you happen to remember how long the sale was going for? My wife took 3 weeks off in May for vacation and thought I'd like to hit the Izod or, option and overnight in LAke Placid. Instead she suggested a cabin about 100 yards from Lake Chamlain at Bluff Point Country Club that offers one over night and two rounds of golf for $80-$90 a person person during the week until May 15. It's a no-brainer, golf get away it is.If you and a few buddies are looking for a good deal you should check out Bluff Point cabin/cottage deals. My neighbor has done it couple times. They play golf early then get hammered on the deck of the cabin/suite they rented or bring out lawn chairs and just watch the players on hole 4 as players play through. Then around 5:30-6:00 PM they'd go got and do putting challenges, chipping for money, iron shots whatever once the last group went through Also if your ever in the North Country check out Adirondack GC, it's still one of the best layouts I've ever seen, and literally like 5 minutes away. Very, very tight with deep woods all around you, but fun! I've been a member there for the last 5-6 years or so. Last year it was $25 for 18 holes with a cart Monday thru Thursday and $30 with a cart for Friday, Saturday, and Sundat. It's exit 36. It's not like Satatoga National but still fun courses to play (Adirondack is my favorite ).

 

Anyways got off topic. Have you heard any more details about Exit 8's demo day in the second half of April?. It'd be awesome to actually hit some balls on a Trackman or whatever for the first time. Also are you going to the demo day?

 

Lastly how's the courses up there right now? We have no snow but tons of deep frost. Hoping maybe in me 2 weeks at least the rang will be open.
