Cobra CXI specs needed - shopping for new irons

I have been enjoying the great info found on this site, especially the club discussions/reviews/comments from golfers who have experienced different brands.

I'm ready to begin a serious quest to replace my old CXI's with a new set of irons by early summer 07.

My game and swing have improved a little and although I don't have an official H/C, my average score has dropped from mid 90's to high 80's due mainly to correcting a slice habit.

 

While looking at the specs of all the great game improvement irons, the offset values are a little confusing so I'd like to compare the new models against the offset of my Cobra CXI's. I can't find any info, even from Cobra web-site, club retailers or archived posts. My intention is to look at the new irons that have the same or slightly less offset than I'm using now.

 

So, does anyone know the specs or can tell me where to look ?

 

I'm going to spend much time at demo events and practise ranges this spring trying anything I can test. My first choices (based on looks only) are:

Ping Rapture

Titleist 775

Mizuno MX-25

Cobra S-9

Second choices:

Callaway X-20

Callaway Fusion

TaylorMade R7

Just do a google search for Cobra CXI Specifications, you will find more sites. I played them also, and this year switched to MX-23's, and it was a nice transition. Still has a little offset, but Im not a pro, so it helps me. I shoot about the same as you. I see you have the MX-25's listed, I would try those if I were you.

I demoed everything I could, and nothing compared to Mizunos feel.

Thanks AJS, I used your link and 8 seconds later I had the answer to my question! Amazing.

 

Yes, I will try the Mizuno MX-25's in earnest at the range soon. I hit the 4 iron a few weeks ago in an indoor simulator....I hate trying clubs in the dark, something doesn't feel right. This Mizuno was the softest feeling club I've ever hit and although I wasn't swinging well (in the dark) it felt great and deserves further testing.

If I ddint get the Mizzys, my next choice were the Cleveland CG4's. Demo everything you can, its hard to make a decision. I went with the Mizzys and I couldnt be happier. My third chioce were the Ping G5's.

CXISSI...it sounds like you are a Cobra guy...have you tried the new S9 ? They look a little wild but love the finish.

Haven't hit the s9 irons I have heard good things about them . I did try the fp irons a was very disappointed in them . The cobra 3100 iron is much better than the fp .

I have the 775.cb and beleive these are the most forgiving ,point and shoot iron Titleist has ever made.

I just picked up a used set of mp60 irons to try just for sport.

Glad to hear you say the 775.cb are forgiving. I've wanted to put Titleist in my bag for years...probably an ego thing. Didn't care for the look of the 804's but these 775's sure look nice. I'll try them indoors this week along with the s9.
