Can't stand the G20 stock shaft. Any suggestions?

I was able to demo the PIng G20 driver not long ago. I know this club has gotten raves and I think with the proper shaft it would do well for me. I was only able to demo the standard TFC 169D stiff shaft. I was very inconsistent with direction, going either left or right often. My swing speed is 95-100 mph, with a moderate tempo.

Any suggestions on an upgraded shaft in this club are appreciated...

I thought the standard TFC was too whippy. Did you try the Tour Stiff yet? I would try that first before moving on to something else.

I put the 169d tour shaft in my old G15 and it was the best shaft combo I've ever hit. My ss stays around 108 and it just plain worked for me. You'll get a trillion different responses bc shafts are different for everyone but I'd try the tour shaft before movin on. I think it's about 10 grams heavier and stiffer tip. May help, may not...

I attended an indoor Ping demo day last spring, and was able to try the 169D Tour stiff shaft on a 10.5 degree head. It did give me better numbers on the LM that the standard shaft. I've just never been able to demo one on the course. Maybe that would do the trick, because I do find the standard shaft MUCH too whippy.

Had the G20 9.5 with tour stiff shaft thought it was really good, but picked up an G20 9.5 with AD DI 6 in S flex, it was 3/4 shorter than standard and it is really good, swing speed is average 104 can vary from 102 -108 I just took a chance when I bought it and hoped it would be alright, was lucky to get it at really good price, it was straight from Ping with the upgraded shaft and sits neutral, as above there will be lots of replies with different answers to what shaft is beat,Steve

Let me know how that goes. I was able to get one used with the RIP Beta - the head I'm loving but something about this shaft is just not right. GD I'm a big fan and have a YS 7 in my old 3 wood that feels utterly awesome. But yeah thinking exactly what you did, maybe a slightly shorter shaft with GD.

I did not get along with the stock shaft either, too much torque and too long. I was fit into a Graphite Design Tour AD DJ6s @ 45" and I have never been happier. Get a fitting if possible, its worth it.

This sounds like a sick combo. Just for kicks. What are your numbers like? Always been interested in the ADDJ.

Its been over a year, so I can't recall the exact numbers. Seems like it was about 200-300 more spin than the DI6s and about the same launch (12-14). The biggest difference was the way it kicked like a mule into the ball, while still being able to handle smooth or aggressive swings with ease. I could feel it load and unload much better for my swing speed (105-108) than the DI6s. After over a year playing the DJ6s, I would say it was worth every penny, plus I like the red over the orange.

I was fitted with a Ping 707D Stiff (i20 shaft) in my G20 to help reduce my spin. I think it was a $40 upgrade from Ping. It is a good combination for me.

Where did you order this combo from?

I was fitted at a golf course/range with a Flight Scope and he ordered it directly form Ping.
