Awsome solid putter. Cant say anything bad about it. I have had my putter for years now and will never let her go. I am playing a santa fe because I like the blended in neck, but switch back often.

Every weekend I see so many of these on TV being played week after week.

Would you have any information on how i can get my hands on a cutom scotty or if i can get one made for myself? I am a 16 yr old jr golfer and the only thing holding me back from winning alot of top level junior events is my flatstick. Any information would be a great help.

If you do have information i am looking to get a custom scotty made in a Newport 2 on the fairly heavy side.

I'm a HUGE Cameron fan, and my favorite style is the Newport II. Here's my review:

I switched from a Ping Anser 5KS to 3 different Camerons, a ProPlatinum Newport 2, a Studio Stainless Newport Beach, and a Studio Stainless Newport 2. Here are my thoughts:

* Studio Stainless has a better, softer, more controllable feel, IMO. The feel off the ball is superior to the ProPlatinum, and definitely whips my old anser for feel and controllability. I also prefer the Cameron Studio Design grip that comes with the SS, which is the thinner, slightly curved grip similar to the "Pingman" grip on Ping putters.

* ProPlatinum has a slightly crisper feel, and I like the looks of it a LOT better. That nickel-satin finish is beautiful to my eyes. The ball comes off the ProPlatinum with a slightly crisp feeling, but yet is very controllable. I putt equally as well with both putters, but I like the looks of the ProPlatinum better. The larger corded grip also feels good in your hands. I alternate my Camerons depending on the green speeds (fast greens=Studio Stainless, and slower greens=ProPlatinum)

* Newport Beach - the "Beaches" have a sound slot in the putter that's supposed to help the feel, and also alter the sound characteristics of striking the ball. The sound and feel of a Beach model is very unique - I've found that practicing with a Beach helps me groove my stroke, with the feedback you get at impact. The Beach models don't have sightlines, but the Cameron Restoration shop can add one. The Beaches use the standard Newport Head, with a thicker topline visible at address.

* Newport vs. Newport 2 head - the Newport 2 head is slightly longer, and a lower/flatter flanges, which appeal to my eye better. The Newport 2's also have the sightline, which I like. If you look at the sole of a Newport 2 - it has 3 distinct cambers, with a flatter section at the bottom. I've heard this is to help reduce "stubbing" the putter around the greens.

* Mid-Slant - in Scotty's words: "a distinctive new model by taking the Classic Newport head and adding a slant neck for a sleeker, less obstructed view of the ball. A sightline graces the flange for easy alignment. The mid-slant design still has the optimal 1/4 toe hang, but removing the elbow in the plumber’s neck allows for better visibility of the ball and a cleaner look at setup." I like the MId-Slants a lot, and they setup very well to my eye.

* Setup/Alignment - Since I prefer the "anser" style of putters, both my putters align wonderfully. One thing I like about the Newport 2's is the sightline. I believe the Newport Beach models do not have sightlines, and I feel the sightline really helps me line up the putt better. I don't recall if you can get the Mil-Specs with sightlines or not.

* Durability - be careful here. The Studio Stainless and the ProPlatinums are not nearly as susceptible to some older putters which require oiling and storing them carefully (Oil Can finish, etc.). But.....the softer metal dings very easily (ask me how I know). I dropped my Studio Stainless on the cart path, and it was left with tons of scratches and dings on it - thankfully a local shop buffed them out pretty well, but you can still see the damage. This is the price you pay for that soft feel (for example: Forged irons).

* Headcovers - I'm told these colorful, expensive headcovers are a magnet for theft. They look and feel great, and are very well padded to protect your putter, but several individuals have told me that it's common for Camerons to get stolen, and those flashy headcovers make it an easy target. Nevertheless, I'm amazed at how expen$ive these are, especially the limited edition, or "Circle T" Tour edition headcovers.

* Workmanship - Top notch on the Camerons. The milled finishes, and the subtle angles, curves, and detail on these putters is tremendous. I'm an engineer by schooling, and with the exception of some small odd details, the workmanship on the putters is amazing. I'll often take mine out just to run my fingers along it, and stare at the unique details of the putter. (OK, that makes me weird!)

* Cameron Pricing & Mystique - This has been discussed far too much on the golf forums, but I feel that the higher cost is worth the money, since I see the value in a well engineered milled golf club with softer metal composition, which I feel results in a softer, more controllable feel that helps me hole putts. I'll certainly admit that Camerons are overpriced due to the mystique, history, and perceived value by collectors, but ah well, there's always eBay for good values. I saved a TON of money by purchasing my camerons on the internet during the winter season. In fact, I purchased a mint condition ProPlatinum Midslant Newport for only $89.

Hi Goose, If you want a used one, they are on ebay all the time.

But a new one you can go on www.puttermonster.com, they are a Cameron dealer in LV. They have stock and can order.

I know Jim Butler at www.tablerock.com, has several and I believe can order them as well, I have bought other Cameron items from him in the past.

I play a Studio Stainless Newport 2 35"/71/4 and love it. I wish it was a bit heavier and had less logos on it. Ideally i would love the same putter at 340-350 grams and with only the Titleist logo on the chamber. Actually pretty much like the one pictured up top but with a stainless finish.

I have tried many putter and keep coming back to this one. Plain and simple, great balance, solid feel, pure strike, and no insert. Very happy.

Just picked up a Cameron Newport MidSlant Pro Platinum in mint condition for $95! The putter doesn't have one nick or scratch! This is one of the best feeling putters I've ever had. Didn't care much for the Titleist chord grip, so I replaced it with a ping man grip. Great feel. I was actually trying out the new Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 when I saw the Pro Platinum on the used rack. I putted for quite some time with both putters and preferred the feel of the Pro Platinum. Plus it was $200 cheaper!

I was a mallet guy then a buddy that I see every now and again let me try his Scotty Cameron on the course last year. I putted with it a few times and liked it so I picked up a used Scotty Cameron Studio style Newport II on Ebay for a great price.

A few rounds and I figured out what I can do with it, long lag putts, 4-5 footers for par etc. Ball under my right eye, straight back and straight through.

I can honestly say I am a changed man. I can actually putt and make some long putts too. I think the main reason for this is ball speed control and confidence. I used be wary on the greens but not any more, now I putt like it doesnt matter and it works !

Scotty Cameron for President !

I use an older sc newport 2 tel3 putter. excellent balance, decent tactile responsiveness, a beater...best on downhill putts on a fast green. I like how it feels with a soft ball especially.
