You would have loved seeing Tim Rosaforte on the Golf Channel last night. His suit pants were bunched around his ankles like sweatpants.
I saw that and it made me irrationally angry, they were like 3 inches too long.

Haha! Yeah, I couldn't believe how ill-fitting they were for a TV personality. It was crazy.

Everyone please look at the new Golf Digest and the pics of fashion going more modern fit. The top of the pant should just touch the top of the shoe and the pant should be tapered and slim.
Sorry, but Golf Digest and their resources are the last place anyone should go to for honest "fashion" advice. Trendy advice, maybe if you're 20 something, or 30+ something trying to look 20 something.

I'm in my 20s and I like my pants exactly like SeYung Noh's. I usually buy 32-34" waist pants with 32-34" inseams. I really only need the inseam to be 29"-30" but the extra length makes hemming them easier. I think hemming them with a v is trendier look and allows the pants to be a little longer without looking poorly fitted like Goose's.

I read thru every post and I didn't see anybody make a strong reference to actual performance on the course. The answer is truly whatever each individual player feels comfortable looking down and seeing before they take the club back. Pants that are a right fit for out on the town may not necessarily work on the course bc there isn't enough "room" for an athletic movement like a golf swing. Pants that appear too long may in fact be the correct length for a different shoe. My pants fit differently depending on which style golf shoe I wear. In summation, to each their own.

Rory needs to stop wearing the modern fit tech pants...they're just too slim at the bottom (and may be a bit long in the case of this picture). You'll never see TW wear "slim" pants - there's nothing dominant about a man wearing nut huggers. Not to mention it makes your feet look like boat paddles.

I would not call those any where close to "too slim" at the bottom but agree with you that they are too long.... this thread is in the Golf "style" thread and there is no doubt that the current "style" is slimmer and shorter. Doesn't mean that baggier or longer is innapropriate, just means its not in style.

i thought i'd add a couple of photos of sergio (from WRX photos Tues practice at the Masters) where I think his trouser length is perfect. Not too short and not too long- the length i'd want all my pants to be at! What do you think ronnbee, are these still 2 inches too long for you? :taunt:

"Where do you live?"

Where people know how to dress, and understand the only reason you see the socks in the GQ ad is because the sock company down there in the small writing paid to have their socks shown. When GQ's own fashion and style department are laughing at people who wear a suit like that in real life, it's time to let it go. Sock companies need to sell things, too. Don't believe the hype.

"As for trouser break, I know this sounds prejudiced, but whenever I see a man in an expensive suit with no break to his trousers, that is, with the trouser hems riding above the shoes and showing sock, I wonder which small midwestern community he’s a pillar of. Sorry."

Designer Michael Bastian on how the right call can make or break a suit “I like cuffs on pants of just about any fabric. Of course, when you’re dealing with heavier corduroys and tweeds, the cuffs serve a purpose: They give the pants some weight, so they fall better. I say, if you’re gonna go for a cuff, go for it; make it at least an inch and a quarter deep. As for the break, 90 percent of guys keep it classic, where the front of your pants hits the top bit of your shoes and the back of them touches the tops of your heels. That always works"

I would bet most current designers that target younger demographics would say the opposite, fact is that there is nothing wrong with the younger "hipper" styles of wearing your pants. There is also nothing wrong with wearing your pants like an older man as long as you don't over do it and look sloppy. I have one suit pant with a cuff tailored to a mid-break. The rest are all no cuff with little to no break, I wear shorter coats as well. Its not to sell socks or belts. Its because I'm less than 40 years old and want to dress like it. By the way your man Michael Bastian's website is revealing about his style sense, its not the sock companies with this pic

http://www.michaelba...c.com/shop.html

oh, and these are recent pics of Michael Bastian "selling socks" for reference:

my golf pants have to be long enough to not show sock while I'm reading greens, only rule of thumb I have for length of my golf pants
Who checks to see if his socks are showing while he's reading putts? The easiest fix for this if it does for some reason catch your eye is to start wearing socks with tones that match or compliment your slacks. It will be far less likely to get your attention or anyone else's.

I try to wear slacks that mostly fall as Sergio's do in the recent post, but I play a lot of golf and am in school so as many pairs of slacks as I buy I try to save where I can which means sometimes I pick up nice slacks that aren't quite up to par so to speak. I survive, and I think half the guys out there are too drunk to notice the difference anyway =p

Whats hip today will be old fashion tomorrow. The one true statement is there is no such thing as best or traditional since they are both constantly changing as generations die off and styles change to visualy seperate generations.

However, I can not explain MJ's style.
