Miura TB **Update**

Recommended Posts

As many know I finally spent the money in November and bought some Miura TB's. Going off all the hype and from what everyone says I could only expect good things right?! Well it's been 3 months now and I can not be happier with the purchase. They def feel great, especially with CTapers. I know a lot of people are always saying that there are better clubs out there for the money.

I really don't think there is a better set of clubs out there. The feel is bar none when purely struck. Just an amazing set of irons. Wedges as well, I love my 60C and 56K grind wedges. I'm definety a Miura guy for the rest of my golf days!

We have a very similar experience.

I picked up a blended set [501s in 4 thru 6; TBs 7 thru PW; New Wedge series in 51 and 57] in October and could not be happier with the decision.

I was a bit concerned about the price, but no longer regret the decision. There is no desire to hit any other clubs. No more club-ho'ing for me. Getting the Miura's was one of the best / smartest golf club decisions I ever made.

I, too, am a Miura guy for the rest of my golf days.

PS -- nice profile pic. :)

I'm with you guys, have a combo set myself and best feeling irons I've ever hit. These will be in the bag for a long time or until I can't swing X100s anymore.

I play the TBs and love them.....

For you guys considering the BBs.......they're awesome. But they are awfully small. Keep that in mind. Nothing feels better standing on the range and smoothing shots with those BBs. Playing golf with them is another thing entirely. Tiny....really small.

For a look at the Baby Blades and their siblings, here's one set of Miura blade size comparisons from an earlier thread:

Here are the comparison pics of the LE Blade and the Tournament Blade.

The LE(Baby) Blade is on the LEFT side of each of the pics / Tournament Blade on the Right side.
These two irons are the 6 iron.

Main Differences:
- The LE is about 3.5mm shorter in overall length
- the toe profile is a little more squared off on the LE
- Visually the LE is a hair smaller at address
- LE Blade is more dense and has a slightly more solid feel.
- LE Blade launches about 1* lower
- LE Blade has 5mph faster ball speeds in robot testing

The last two pictures might be the most telling difference. I have the LE Blade in front of the Tournament blade so you can see the length difference and shape difference.

Both Blades are equally forgiving...but the LE may be a little more "mentally" intimidating since it is a hair smaller in heel-toe length. Well struck shots are butter and go like laser beams...

Misshits don't kill your hands..but these are blades so misshits are sometimes not pretty....

Playability: I must say (for me anyway) there is no better club in golf than Miura Blade. When I miss, I miss no matter what the club, but well struck shots are so much better with these it isn't funny. Distance, control and feel are much better. I also concentrate on the shot much more with these rather than getting lazy with my swing and my game is rewarded. If you want a club to be lazy with...maybe this isn't the one, but if you want a club that will reward you and one that you CAN get better with...look no further. Just picking one up you may not be happy...but with the proper fitting..you will have the best sticks available.

I hope this helps with the questions....

Well....there you have it. Probably the best post I've seen on Golfwrx to back up an opinion. Hard to argue math and science.

Of course, that won't stop me for a minute.

I love my TBs and I loved the feel of BBs. All the great things people say are true.

So is the following:

THEY ARE TOO DAMN SMALL.

I'm sorry guys, I'm a good iron player and would like to think they haven't manufactured a blade I can't hit, but when you get into mid and long irons - there just isn't enough steel down there.

If you hit the centre of the iron there is plenty if steel...if you don't you basically miss the ball completely ... And you can just pretend its a practice swing :)
Maybe, maybe - when I was 22 years old and playing golf every day. Statistics would say that I shouldn't even be playing TBs at my age. I like blade irons - so I'm going to continue to play my TBs. BBs are probably the best feeling iron I've ever hit. I worked with one on the range for several practice sessions but ultimately went with the TBs.

The high irons were fine. Below a 7 iron - things started getting a little frisky. If I could be guaranteed a perfectly flat lie on manicured fairways - yeah, I could get around with BBs. But I could see misery coming with those things. Sidehill lies, early in the golf season, windy days in which my balance wasn't quite up to par......ouch.

One thing is for certain - if you're gonna play BBs then it would certainly eliminate the notion of "going up a club and swinging a little harder." BBs would turn almost anyone into smooth, easy swinging player.

Very good point, I can honestly say I'm smoother than I used to be with a season on the BB's

I tried some rounds with some 712 cb's and some rounds with some 712 Mb's and I consistently scored better with the BB's on the same track. I think I'm just really really used to them now. My swing flaw is that I sometimes hold onto my release... I never have that issue with the BB's, they swing so fluid for me and release so easily. For whatever reason I really don't have any swing thoughts with them in my hand other than target and shape.
Maybe I made myself have confidence with them because of how much cash they cost me!! :)
And if I couldn't hit them I would have to kick my own a$$ for buying them. I have owned 501's, TB's and own some 202's as well as the BB's. I don't think it matters which ones you play they are all amazing! I didn't have any faults with any of them.
