Launch Monitors

Today I went to the local golf store to pick up a hitting mat for my new net that I got about a week ago. While I was there I wanted to try out a driver or two just to see the hype on some of the new ones. Unfortunately the only drivers I was able to test today was the Callaway X-Hot and Tour edge Exotics. This isn't a review of them or anything like that. I'm kinda just typing up a rant about the launch monitor they use. I'm not going to sit here and say I have great accuracy with the driver, but I know about my misses and where they usually go. I usually have a slight fade/slice (depending on if I'm trying to kill it or not).

I only had two balls with both drivers have that movement, two that went straight, one push, no pulls, and out of nowhere a bunch of hooks/strong draws. I can't believe this monitor. Distances seemed okay (about the same as my 910), but flight pattern was no where near what I usually hit. I don't think I have ever hit a hook/draw in my life and if I have, I haven't repeated it 7-12 times in a row. Should I say something to the people about the monitor? I just can't believe that all of a sudden with two new drivers I am all of a sudden hitting those shapes.

Rant over.... Sorry if this just comes off as whiny. Just frustrated that I really wanted to see how these two performed and couldn't even get a good read on it.

Okay...

For starters what type of monitor were they using? That dictates a lot as to whether or not most here are going to consider your results correct or not.

You have to give more info than what you are giving here...

Maybe your "new" miss is related to how you setup to this particular LM/Net/Mat setup? You can certainly setup into a hook if you play a fade...

As in my stance? I felt like I set up how I normally would after selecting my target line. Or do you mean how my setup was compared to the monitor's sensors?

I dont trust the monitors in golf stores at all. I worked in one (store) before and have hit in many simulators. I can make the ball move either way (maybe not accurately) but i know if the ball is moving when i try and shape it. Everyone of them the ball does not do what i know it will out on the range. It was unbeleivable how many clubs were sold because everyone thought they were hitting the ball great. They returned after a while only to buy another club due to the monitor results. I know you (OP) were thrown off by your results but all i can say is dont trust them. Most people dont want to hear this because they really do think they are hitting the ball well and wont listen to anything that would discount this.

P.S i am not trying to sound like i am some pro, however, i can 100 percent snap hook it and slice it on call, and the monitors do not reflect it. DONT TRUST INDOOR MONITORS is all im saying, especially if you are a 20 hdcp but striping every shot in them.
