Virtuoso, your swing is absolutely outstanding! It's exciting. You definitely have lots of hogan in there. I looked thru your youtube channel and I see that you do lots of experimenting. All of those swings are super cool too, except for one vid that made me cringe; it was the "Pitch CF" vid...........Those hands were flipping like Justin Rose's lol.

I'm looking forward to your progress Sir!

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

If you look at the older swings on my channel, there is still alot of my swing dna hanging around. I don't expect to become an exact replica of Hogan (not that my body is even capable anyway), but I would like to implement some moves that will allow my arms and shaft to come through the impact zone more like Hogan. Would love to continue to groove a flat fade with a shallow divot and a little forward shaft lean, divot curving slightly left at the end.

It still isn't where I need it to be, but will keep working on it. Thanks again!

Holey smiley......is that an actual wooden club?? Looks like a McGregor or Northwestern. Whew, that ball is disappearing quick!

Guy with Hogan club...swinging an authentic wood, with a Hogan styled swing?!? I don't want to say this aloud, but i think I'm developing a man-crush over here lol.

Lookin forward to the front-left view.

Awesome!! That's a great looking swing!

I'm curious to know how you got to where you are. Are you a student of any particular system or just a natural?

Student???? No way. That's a pro swing. He should stop wasting his time hanging in forums. He should be on somebody's tour going after heavy trophys and fat checks.

Yea, he should be giving us lessons. Very cool to see persimmon being swung. Did you guys hear that Ricky Fowler practices with persimmon clubs all the time? The more I play with persimmon the more I love it. I'm at the point where I have more confidence using wooden clubs than my modern equipment.

Hey guys, thanks for the nice words. I am definitely a "student" of the game.....and I am definitely not a natural. I've had to work very hard to develop a swing that brings the club into the ball in an efficient way.

I'd say I've been influenced by a lot of teachers and tour pro footage, but my biggest influences have been Hogan and O'Grady. But, my natural "acceleration profile" of my body segments is not well suited right now for the Hogan moves. I start accelerating my hips and shoulders way too early in my transition and peter out a long time before Hogan does.....as you can see in the vids. I also dive in the transition the wrong way. But I'll keep working on it.

Hey BHSP, love your Hogan vids! They've been a huge learning source for me.

I was going to say the red shirt swings reek of O'Grady, then you said it yourself. Maybe its the visor. All of these swings are excellent. Did you go to a Morad school? I am sure you can see the missing Hogan details, you point out some of them, but you will fool most us, and who cares, because it is a great action. Thanks for this!

Hey ej, I've never been to a morad school. I'm only mildly familiar with what OGrady teaches now, but I'm a huge admirer of the swing he used in the 80's.

As I see it, there are about 6 or 7 things that keep me from delivering the club down through the ball like Hogan. Many are transition related.

One serious problem is my right elbow behavior at transition--it is exactly the opposite of what Hogan does. But, there is a interesting riddle there that I "may" have somewhat figured out. The conundrum is, of course, that Hogan seems to go to extreme pitch elbow when he starts down, but then appears to be almost punch elbow (almost slightly behind the hip socket) through impact. I think I may have figured out how that actually works, but until I can demonstrate it, AND HIT A GOOD GOLF SHOT WHILE DOING IT, I haven't actually figured it out in practice and execution.

Good luck with that one, that has been a sore spot in this forum forever. Nobody figured that one out. There are probably a couple million ideas about it in here as well as a bunch of threads on it.

LOL, If I can do it properly and find the ball at the bottom with all the correct delivery angles, I'll tell you what I did. If I can't, I'll let my idea slip back into the Hogan swing theory abyss.

That is no fun, you are supposed to tell us the idea, put your swing up and fail. PEople will tell you are wrong, a hack, etc, like 5 people will get banned and the thread will go 86 pages long... and some how it will end up become a discussion about active supination. (I am being sarcastic).

So far, I think you did a wonderful job and am rooting for you.

Ha ha, that was funny! I'm happy to at least have a small support group as I feed myself to the wolves.

No doubt, numerous people have already said what I think the answer is--because there are only so many things you could say about Hogan's moves or any other swing technique. I will definitely say what I think it is, even if I can't physically do it, because the physical ability to replicate Hogan moves is not the sole evidence......but it sure heps the credibility......and reduces the amount of bloody skewering.

Virtuoso's rules for starting a campaign to express you have Hogan figured out:

1. Don't say you have Hogan completely figured out.

2. Post your swing and take your lumps.

3. It helps if you look like you hit it somewhat solid.

4. Do anything in your swing but flip at the ball with a lot of wrist break down and forearm cross-over. You will be discounted immediately, even if you have some Hogan "cosmetics", ie, a flat plane with a lot of lag.
