Sorry if this is OT but what did Judy Rankin say or do that drew some criticism? I have no idea what it is thought it might have been something she said during the tournament?

Judy's been vocally critical of MW's "tabletop" putting stance, but not enough to warrant any issue, imo. I think the statement was “I’ll be as candid as I can be. I see nothing good about it.” Just good, honest opinion from a HOF'er, imo.

Annika was a bit more venomous in her analysis of MW's game earlier this week, but fell back on the old "taken out of context/mis-quoted" excuse and got a pass.

I'll be honest, I used to be a MW...well hater is to strong of a word but I wasn't really a fan. But I have softened of late, realizing a lot of what I had disdain for was mostly bad handling by parents and mangement, etc. - and would like to see her get it back together and succeed.

Can't think of anything else Judy might have said or did, so I suspect this is what they were referring to...

EDIT and not OT at all, this is what we do lol :).

hmm thought that is what it was but was really surprised to see Dottie have to come to Judy's defense over her criticism of Wie's putting which in all fairness is pretty bad.

I'm surprised there's no mention of the rather dramatic change in Lydia Ko's putting style. She's been crosshanded every previous time I've watched her, including 2 years ago when she nearly won at 13, last August while winning in Canada, and in the early events this year.

Today she was putting with a conventional grip yet nobody on the Golf Channel crew said anything about it. At least not that I heard. I missed some of the coverage.

Lydia also had a very pronounced forward press today, and then a distinct pause before bringing the putter back. All of this is quite a departure from her previous style. Judy Rankin did make one brief mention that Lydia has been working with Stockton, so that must be the answer.

Overall I think it's for the better. Too many LPGA players putt crosshanded, IMO. I mentioned that a couple of months ago. There shouldn't be a percentage that radically differs from the history of the sport. I'm always skeptical how high a young player will advance if I see a crosshanded style. Stockton probably convinced Lydia that it's not the best choice.

However, right now she doesn't look particularly comfortable with it. The pause after the foward press varied in duration. Lots of shoves on right to left putts, some by several inches.

***

* Michelle wasted a good ball striking round. But her hands are noticeably more relaxed while using this putting posture, for whatever reason. She seems to be more aggressive on left to right putts than right to left putts.

* Lexi's swing is all over the place. The only dependable variable is her crushed expression leaving the 18th green.

* So Yeon Ryu is not making as many birdies this year so far

* I said Kelli Kuehne was improving as a walking analyst. Primarily because she wasn't saying much compared to last season. This week it's a trade off. At least we are spared her on-course blather but it's obscene to use her in studio in Orlando. They can't limit her to one sentence every 10 minutes in that role. She's brutal when asked for a lengthy opinion. I had to click away yesterday, when she returned to the her familiar "rolling the rock" cliche.

Has anyone ever been there before? I'll be there on Sunday, and would appreciate any advice on good places to sit, food recommendations, etc.

Thanks in advance

Food on the course or off?

Both actually. It'll be my first time in Palm springs.

Personally if you make a change you should become better not worse.
same thing with Yani Tseng, she is worse of with gary.

Knows the secret to the golf swing to own it.

I didn't see/hear Dottie's comments, was it during the broadcast or some other outlet?

Watching the replay...yes it's 2:13AM in Chicago...pathetic. Think it was Annika who backed off her comments from the Golf.com interview a bit while supporting Judy Rankin. Judy did take a shot at MW's putting technique but then offered faint praise for MW choosing that stance and not being influenced by anyone else.

Annika is normally a straight shooter and was very soft on her assessment of MW.

Did I mention somewhere that Jodi has moved up on my list. I know it seems like every time one of a hottie is near the top I have anew fav. Possibly true, but she has been on my list for a while. I met her at UNM a few years back. I had heard of her as the top UNM golfer and when we were on the green together at the UNM Championship course, I decided to introduce myself, I try to never miss an opportunity. Well, I reminded her this year at the RR Donnelley that we had met before and she was very nice and actually acted like she remembered. I talked to her father in-law last year, as a lot of the unknowns have a small gallery of family and friends. Anyway, he mentioned that he thought her putting was a little lacking preventing her from being in the top echelon. If you notice she wields a belly putter, one of the few. Anyway, She was a 4 time Mountain West all conference Player of the Year, more than any other Lobo in any sport, also 3 time All American... She definitely has game and I look to her to win a few once she settles in and gets comfortable playing among the best.

Awsi
Good catch.
I did notice Lydia tap in with a conventional grip and didn't realized she was no longer using crosshanded.
I wonder when she converted and if she'll stick with it.
She did shove a few putts right.

Lydia is not a high ball hitter....an disadvantage especially on this track.

Lexi's needs to hit straight short irons and fix her putting woes.

Paula's seems to be sick a lot.

You are shameless.......try to be like the majority here and appreciate the gals for their game and not their looks. :cheesy:
I assume once Taylor Karle, Pancake or Ekey make it onto a leaderboard you'll become their best friends on Facebook?

Yes, Jodi is a hottie and also looks good out of her golf clothes...which can't be said of all pros.

Disappointed with the coverage today so far. No need to focus heavily on the leaders at this stage. Paula is on the course. So is Ai Miyazato. We've seen nothing of Gerina. Lexi is always interesting to watch, no matter what she is doing.

I like Ewart but watching primarily her and Stanford has been blah.

Okay, finally a Paula sighting.

Twitter last night saw someone RT a comment from dottie telling people to esstially stop being so harsh on judy for what she said. I thought it would have been about something more singnificant than Michelles Hunchback of Stanford putting style
