Anyone play Chambers recently? I'm playing there on the 2/7 and even though I'm excited to get out there again I have a feeling that I'm going to come home disappointed... I've heard there's a bunch of temp greens and some target greens too.

My fingers (and toes) are tightly crossed in hopes that we have a great showing for the rest of the world in June.

For those that want to know: The Classic Golf Club started the removal of trees on the back nine today so any 18 hole rounds you're looking to play out there will be played on the front nine twice for the duration of their maintenance. I stated in another thread that I heard they're removing over 300 trees but the guy I spoke with today said 1,600!!

Played Gold Mountain Olympic a couple days ago. Course was in great shape, quite dry and the greens were rolling very well for this time of year. Love that course.

All I've heard is the tree removal. I'm pretty stoked for the change. The increased air flow and sunlight should definitely help the conditioning out there. I've always felt that the Classic could be one of the best courses around if the conditioning was more consistent all year. They're moving to Oakbrook next week to start tree removal too.

If you shoot well at Apple Tree Resort in Yakima, you’ve accomplished something, even from the middle tees. The 17th hole and its island green pictured below will either blow up your score or submerge it – or you just might hit the green and have a lifetime memory. You’re playing on a repurposed apple orchard, with reminders of its other use scattered throughout the course. Don’t expect to improve on your putting average – though that’s not the greens’ fault. Played Twin Lakes Country Club for the first time today as they are having open play for non members for only $30. Course was nice and in very good shape, but it was the greens that really stuck out. They were smooth, rolled true and were pretty fast for this time of year even though we have had some outstanding weather. Only drawback was a little bit of a long round, but on a beautiful 60* March day who cares.

Rope Rider @ Suncadia - 3.08.2015

You're prob asking how'd you play on Suncadia? It's not even open for the season? Well just my luck that they ran a pre-season special this past March 7th/8th. With the warm weather we had this past weekend I got my regular golf buddies to take advantage for a mini road trip. We headed out Sunday 10am for the 1 1/2 hr drive from Seattle to Roslyn. Kicking off golf season in style at Suncadia for a hush hush preseason opener. That being said it was "preseason" so we weren't expecting full grounds crew maintenance and the traditional resort like conditions. The course was as expected this early in the season to be a little on the rough side. The greens were punched and sanded. The fairways were fuzzy and covered in deer droppings. When I say covered, every 5 ft there was a berry explosion on the ground. Luckily most of the greens were cleaned of the mess. The droppings weren't really all that bad as most of it baked dry. The weather was reaching mid 60's and everybody was in a great mood. We were all wearing shorts, pretty crazy for March. Tee'd off around noon and never ran into anyone other than a 2 some of kids we let play through our foursome around hole 5. The best part of the day was that the course was completely empty. We didn't have to deal w/ slow players, backed up par 3 tee boxes, random hackers stealing balls etc. Just pure golf out in the sun.

We started off the round w/ my approach on the par 5 which nearly dropped in for an eagle from my 96yd wedge. Left 4" for birdie. The rest of the front was amazing. As a team combined best ball we were -5 through 9 holes. The back 9 proved to be a little more challenging after a few drinks and we shot 2 over as a team finishing for a 69. Putting was really a shot in the dark as some greens were heavily punched and sanded and others the balls were actually rolling and breaking. For preseason golf I think most of our group was in good form especially since we just got back from Bandon Dunes a couple weeks ago. Scores individually ranged from 79,80, 87, and 94. We had to walk since it was still preseason and they weren't running at full operation w/ carts yet. But to be able to play the course before it officially opens to the public was an awesome deal at $20.

I played meadowood in Spokane last Saturday....It seems to have wintered pretty well. Besides the 20mph wind and rain it was a nice round. They had a temp green setup on #16 for some reason but all greens seemed to be in good shape. A little soft and muddy in a few spots. But all in all looked pretty good for march.

03/22/2014 - Gold Mountain - Olympic course

Played in overcast weather than had on/off showers all day. Winds were up and for the most part rained lightly but also encountered heavy rains a few holes. Overall the conditions at the Olympic course are very good. The greens were still rolling on the fast side. A little bumpy but it was pretty wet from the past few days of rain and foot prints were starting to take hold. The fairways still allow roll which was nice. Maintenance is always great here and one reason I will play in the rain. The drainage was excellent. Didn't encounter any standing puddles except on a few tee'ing areas and low lying rough. I talked to the pro shop staff and they will be punching this week. So I felt lucky to have gotten a round in. Best part got to try out my new driver and all grins w/ my new toy even though the weather proved for tough scoring.

Chambers 3/28

Course is on its way to ready. Rough is growing out and they say they're just going to let it grow til the open. Target green on 12. Only about 150 yards. Target on 15. Auto two putt from outside 10'. Otherwise the course is playing really nice. Fast. Firm. Unforgiving.

Let's just say Tiger's current short game wouldn't hold up.

04/04/2015 - Legion Memorial

Played a twilight round after work w/ my uncle. Started off backed up 2 groups for our 2.30pm tee time. While waiting we meet the other two we're paired with. The woman introduced herself first and then the husband finally get's off his cell phone a group later to introduce himself. Has the balls to shake our hands and tell us they'd like to tee off alone and that they'll go first. Okay sir, first off if you want to play by yourself then you need to be polite and excuse your twosome from the group rather than demand we tee after you. Total a**hole in my book. I asked him what time his tee time was and he replied back 2.37pm well I said I think you should tee off after us because we have a 2.30pm tee time. He then made a smirk comment about us playing fast so he doesn't hit into us, yah okay.

The course was surprisingly in good condition. The greens were rolling fast. Bumpy but fast. A few wet spots but overall in good condition for this early in the season. We eneded up getting let through 2 groups. Slow in terms of pace for a 5 hr round but not bad for a muni.

04/05/2015 - The Classic GC (RMG)

Holy cow! Huge rennovation going on at the Classic. The course was in great condition. The greens haven't been punched in over a year and they are smooth as a baby's bottom. They have taken out a lot of trees. I mean piles of trees 20 feet high every 2 or 3 holes. The course seems so much more open now. Most of all the trouble that made the Classic a challenge seems to be taken out. There are still some trees strategically placed liked on the par 5's and around dog legs (#13). Tee'd off at 10.20am with another buddy and we just cruised all day. We walked the course and it wasn't all that bad except at the turn we accidently tee'd off on #13 instead of #10 and had to back track back to #10 once we figured out what happened. The piles of brush and tress ate up a couple of my drives but my buddy gave me a free drop as they shouldn't of been there. Ended up loosing lunch to him but it was a very fun and sunny day to be out. Surprisingly scored really bad even though the course was open. Started out birdie, par, par then all went down hill to end up loosing to my buddy by 4 strokes. Course was much drier than what I anticipated too, not sure if it's due to the trees being taken out w/ more sunlight.

4/7 - Walter Hall
3rd ones off this morning. Wow. I doubt they have mowed in 4-5 days. LONG, wet, gross rough. Fairways came at a premium today. Lots of wet spots with plugged balls off the fairway (luckily... I didn't hit any of them.:) ) Greens were hard and fast. Full high approach shots barely left a dimple. They were mowing right as we came off 18, so the rough should be shorter if you play later in the day. Also, some of the pin placements were cruel with the speed of the greens. Pay attention to your approaches!

Check out all the piles of trees and brush in the background! These were laid out everywhere on the course. It's going to be wide open after they clear all that out of there.

Played the classic a couple weeks ago. I know they got a lot of complaints from the regulars out there but I think the changes are great for the course.

They've had problems getting light to numerous parts of it forever, which is now changed, and the course will dry out much more quickly now.

I've played a million rounds out there and I don't think the course plays all that different with the work they've done. A little easier on a couple tee shots but that's it really.

I played Jefferson Park for the first time in about 8 years on Saturday, 4/3. I was really impressed with the conditions compared to most of the other courses in the area. The fairways were pretty firm and the greens were good, too. They've done a nice job maintaining it with all the wet weather recently. There was one temporary tee box on #11, but other than that everything was in good shape. Their new clubhouse and two-level range stations are not open yet, but it looks like they're almost ready to go. I am planning to play there some more this year.

Played Salish Cliffs yesterday. Beautiful day almost 70* and sunny. Course was in near perfect shape. Fairways were soft from the recent rain, but not overly so, they were in awesome condition. I doubt you'll find any nicer greens in the state this time of year.

Played Jefferson early Saturday morning. Fairways and greens were in really good shape and relatively dry considering the amount of rain Friday night. The rough on the other hand was pretty thick and still plenty wet. They are punching their greens today so I'd stay away for a week or so.

The new clubhouse and range were open...both look really nice. The range was packed when we finished up.

04/09/2015 - White Horse GC

Played on Master's Thursday. Arrived at the course 30 min before our tee time. They had 1 gentleman running the pro sho and to be honest he was
excruciatingly slow. He had a customer filling out a membership form while there was a line of 4 waiting to check in. Easily could've told that guy to step aside to fill out the form while he checked everyone in, instead all four of us were dumb founded waiting in line for 5 min staring at the ceiling. My buddy and I chuckled as we both have worked behind the counter at another course and could see he was struggling a little bit.

The course is in very good shape other than the thick fog and dew'd fairways we encountered. The greens were a little tame for White Horse but again prob due to the dew and dense fog. Fairways were nice and mowed and they get a huge plus for keeping their tee boxes in order. That's one of my biggest pet peeves having uneven or unmowed tee boxes. It wasn't really soggy but very dew'd up from the weather which provided for some tough scoring. Typical NW weather/conditions.

04/12/2015 - Harbour Pointe GC

The front 9 smells like poo and was a little wet but nothing too bad. There seems to be a lot of ptich marks on the green. Not really the courses fault but I found myself constantly fixing 2-3 marks in my line on every green. The back 9 seems to be maintenced a little better with more tighly mown fairways. IE, hole #11 was completely mowed down from the drop off down to the green. It would've been drivable w/o fear of loosing balls had we known the fairway was mowed down there. The green speeds were slow on the front and fast on the back. It was a like playing 2 different courses.

04/15/2015 - The Classic GC RMG

Once again can't tell you how good the greens are rolling at the Classic GC. They may have been top dressed a little bit since I was last out there but still very smooth greens compared to any other course I've played recently.

The trees are thinned out and it makes for a very enjoyable round. No more lost tee shots. They have taken some of the stress of placing your tee ball in the correct posittion to avoid the trees but still place a premium on hitting the right tier on the greens. Some pins yesterday were tucked all the way back into a 4 foot wide section of the green ala hole #12. Makes for a very fun round of golf that challenges iron game and putting.

Highly recommend getting out there for the price ($29) and conditions best value so far this year.

Played Salish Cliffs yesterday. Beautiful day almost 70* and sunny. Course was in near perfect shape. Fairways were soft from the recent rain, but not overly so, they were in awesome condition. I doubt you'll find any nicer greens in the state this time of year.

Couple pictures:

Very good, not especially fast but rolled nicely. If I had to guess they were ~8.5 on the stimp. It had rained a ton the couple days before I played though so they will certainly speed up as the weather gets better.
