I am here now. They do have some fantastic courses over here. And compared to some of the resort courses in the US, Thailand is a steal!

I played at a course called Windsor Park outside of Bangkok two days ago. The green fee, cart, and caddy came out to about $55. I didn't play all that well, could have been the beauty of the caddies distracted me. LOL

Two of the caddies that were in our group:

Today I will be playing a course called Cascata. It is relatively new (2006), but has gained a reputation of being a tough test, especially the greens. Will see how it goes later.

You should also check out the Royal Gems 'Dream Arena' - it is a 'replica course': front 9 copies many of the great holes around the world and the back 9 is the back 9 of Augusta National. Played it the other day and did a write-up (http://www.golfwrx.com/201345/the-back-nine-of-augusta-in-bangkok/)

Awesome to try my hand at the Road Hole and Sawgrass 17th on the same day as playing Amen Corner. It is a members' course though, so get in touch first and see if they'll let you on.

Played this course April of last year. Not the best time of the year to play golf in Thailand (F'n HOT!) The course is going to be fantastic once the trees grow in. I was glad to avoid the church pew bunkers, however did not fare well on the Sawgrass hole. Do you realize that most of the course was under water in October of 2011 when the floods hit?

Not sure where you are planning on playing in Thailand.

Blue Canyon in Phuket is a great track.

Here is site with small reviews on the courses there.

Lived in Thailand for 3 years about a decade ago. My recommendation, while the top/in-shape courses always change, I'd consider afternoon tee times, say 1pm'ish. Non-intuitive, but Thailand has 12 hours on sunlight practially year-round and gets dark about 6. While you're smoked starting, as you start to wilt on the back, the sun/heat eases up a bit to let you finish strong. Plus, if you're hitting the 19th hole hard, 7am tee-times can be tough to recover for. To each his own of course.

Played a fair bit in and around Pattaya.

Thailand designers seem to have an affinity for elevated greens. You seldom miss a green by a little bit right or left and get a kick onto the green.

And then, of course, find yourself playing from below the green's surface up to it.

Thailand is one of my favorite golf destinations I have ever been. The Pattaya area is more known for it's "Nightlife" but they are really trying to make it quite a golf destination as more courses are being built there. Siam Country Club and Laem Chabang are some of the best ones in the area in my opinion.

I have friends that enjoy going up Chiang Mai or Phuket and playing as well, so I don't think you can really go wrong anywhere in Thailand. I used www.golfasian.com when I planned my Thailand golf trip. They are pretty good at taking care of everything for you. All you really have to do is just show up at the front of your hotel and their transportation picks you up and takes you to your tee time and is waiting for you when you are done.

Enjoy!

Looking to spend the next 6 months here attempting qualify for the Open at Pebble. Was thinking membership at 2 or 3 of the tougher courses around Bangkok might do the trick. If you had to pick a handful of clubs for something like this does anyone have any recs/advice/thoughts? (Here's the GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/us-open-qualifying-at-pebble-beach)
