Big Break Mexico... (merged)

I was at pine ridge today (a rundown municipal Golf course in Maryland), I had just finished my round and as I was leaving I notice on the 5th hole there was a guy with a gotie, sunglass, a visor, and a backstryke putter....it was Chad Schulze!!! I got out, walked over and said hello, and let me say he was a really really cool guy. He asked if I wanted to play with him, which I thought was very generous but unfortunately I had a Yankee game to catch. He told me once I turn 18 I should try to put in a video application for the show, but I have to have something goofy, such as the talking thing, which by the way I did not see him doing (maybe since nobody was around). He said he is still working on getting more funds for the NGA tour and that his game is a little rusty. I asked him if he does any web.com events, and he laughed and said "nooo, those guys are actually good at golf." Lol. I didn't wanna be an A$$ so I didn't ask who won. Sorry. Just thought I would post my experience and say that he actually is a genuinely awesome guy, even when cameras or anybody else is around. Bravo chad.

The thing that really bothered me about Jason was his ridiculous confidence followed by his terrible shots...
It bothered me that he would always choose the easiest shot if given a chance, rather than manning up for his team. Like the flop wall challenge where he spoke first and said he'd putt, leaving the two girls to attempt wall shots. If the team was asked to put forth a member to attempt a shot, he'd have his head down and try to be invisible. Guy struck me as having zero confidence in his game, but talked himself up in the interviews. The slow play, the awkward interactions, and the flat personality. Glad he's gone.

I know there's a dude on here who is paying him to advertise his product, but that's a wasted endorsement.

Dead giveaway was how she was dressed and heavily made up for the interviews throughout the show. I don't understand how GC does not realize that they give away the person eliminated on probably 75% of the shows.

Also, I know Matthew reads this thread since he posted in it. Great job buddy. I like your attitude towards the competition. Couldn't have been be easy to be on your own.

Agreed its a bush league way to operate and I'm glad I got to see Jason hit some more terrible golf shots one last time.

Man. It seemed like there was no love loss with seeing Jason back on the show. It may have just been how they edited it, but not a single person said hi to him and then they all just moaned and rolled their eyes when he left his putt 60 something feet short.

TGC likes to play with their promo's, so after last weeks obvious reference to Matthew succeeding, this weeks "shocking elimination" tagline was obviously a ruse (which apparently Go-Time fell for :) ). The only "shocking" elimination would be Brent, Jay, or Matthew, to a lesser extent, which to me meant they were all safe this week. Combine that with Stephanie's attire, eyes, and over confidence in the interviews, it was obvious she was going home as soon as Matthew picked her.

Stephanie has a passable game, has a bit of golf cute going for her, but she seems way to aggressive and confident considering her performance on the show. She was strong as long as Brent was strong. When Brent had an off day, it fell to her to carry the team and she wasn't able to. Her Futures tour results back this up, with a 73.5 stroke avg and middling performance most of the year, save one T7 finish.

Team Maya certainly seems to be overachieving, however. I never would have expected that group to stay intact this long, but looking and the previews for next week it appears players are looking ahead to the end game and starting to splinter off.

Was nice to see Lorena again, however her English seems to have suffered since leaving the LPGA lol. I'm sure she doesn't get much practice in the Kings English being retired and living in Mexico full time though, so she get's a pass :).

Re Jason, I kinda felt like he might have gotten a bit of a bad rap on the show, they always seem to isolate one person and get a little heavy on the editing, but as mentioned earlier the reaction from the other players pretty much goes along with the general consensus here as well. I think Chad is getting a bit of the heavy handed editing as well, to be honest.

Props to Matt for playing alone against all the other teams and surviving.
I thought that was a huge advantage as he didn't have to wait and could get into some kind of rhythm. He also had experience on how the greens were running. Thought it was funny when he kept high fiving his "team."

agree with this, big advantage for Matt going forward, I think - as long as they stick with this team challenge format.

Agreed. He's all he has and he knows his skill. Nothing is worse for me knowing my future is in someone else's hands and there is nothing I can do or say about it.

From next week's previews, it looks like him and Brent are teamed up? Or they form some sort of unofficial alliance? I hope it's not the latter, this isn't Survivor or The Bachelorette!

I really thought Matt was going home, he had the red eyes and seemed to have all the air time for interviews. So, I was another one that got sucked in I guess. :)

I too am shocked the one team remains intact. I feel like Taylor can't continue to play at this level, she really surprised me with another really good outing.

I think they should have planned out better what would happen if one team did so well and stayed intact while one team was left with one member.

The whole team format seems lame when you have a team of one and a team of two people. While I think it actually benefits Matt, it just seems stupid to continue to have team challenges instead of mixing them up and forming new teams.

Stephanie's eyes and outfit were the giveaway, as others have mentioned. Not as overboard as dozens of previous examples, but too much going on.

Lorena might have been delayed. Normally the guest player shows up much earlier in the series, when everyone or virtually everyone is still alive in the competition. They had to manipulate it this time, so everybody could interact with her.

Yes, her English has been slipping steadily since she retired. It's always evident at the event she hosts.

Hard to believe Maya remained intact this long. Odds against that would have been staggering. Producers might have been forced to alter the format beginning next week.

Every week I look at Taylor's eyes in the preview clip and hope they don't show distress or overwork. She has indeed overachieved, as somebody else posted. Actually, last week was her best Symetra outing in quite a while. Too bad she didn't finish it off. Taylor was T3 entering the final round but slumped to 77 including a late triple, to finish T29. Stefanie and Carling also were up there entering Sunday, both T11. Carling flopped with 80 while Stefanie ended up tied with Taylor at 29th.

Is Lorena Ochoa really as nice and pleasant of a lady as she seems to be? Always been a huge fan -- 100% class, she is.

Yes.....1000% class.
I've seen her several times....extremely nice to fans.
Lorena is kinda like Natalie.....you'd be challenged to find any negative feedback.
For a smallish pro she could launch her 7.5* Ping.

But near her retirement we saw a few moments of frustration with some driver slams.

Driver and then some. Several times from the fairway. Big chunks and mumbled frustration. I thought it was terrific.

Besides, you couldn't doubt the timing of her retirement when she was losing patience on the course.

Lorena still tilts her head strangely while putting. That was briefly visible during one clip.

It was also a terrific Big Break episode since Cristie Kerr appeared briefly, pictured as the winner of last year's Lorena Ochoa Invitational.

That's the best possible prize for a female Big Break champ, BTW. Four rounds and no cut. Guaranteed prize money of $8000+. Something like that.

Meanwhile, the male pro would undoubtedly miss the cut in his exemption.
