I actually compared both the tank and the DLL, only thing I didn't like was how cheap the DLL feels.
I agree. I'd struggle to remember a putter I've tried that felt as cheap. I don't care for the Tank either. The Nike Drone 2.0 seems very stable, but I can't get past the looks.

Man I'm right with you guys. Saw them and rolled a few. I like the head shape and like the longer weighted concept of what TM is trying to do, but man the feel is really lame. A cheap Odyssey feels way better to me. I don't know about you guys but I've always felt the original spider felt the best and every single version after that got worse and worse in the feel dept.

I liked the DLL. I thought the tank felt a little better though.

I think it's dell at 35/38 or tank at 36/38.

Loved the tank at 36.

I rolled the DLL and Tank a couple days ago. I was impressed by both, but I putted better with the DLL.

I just wish the DLL looked better (not a fan of the white) and had the same long sight-lines that the Tank has.

I thought the Vicino was awesome, but the aluminum top dented so easily.

Good call, man! I could have sworn it was the same size. That sucks even more because I was hoping to get an old black Spider headcover.
Yeah, I don't care for those new headcovers with velcro, I prefer the old magnetic ones. My new Spider headcover has it's velcro ripped off twice already in 2 months, I just superglued it back on. I bought that 38" DLL putter before a club tourney yesterday and putted nicely. I need little bit more time to get the speed down, it seems to roll little hotter.

It's one issue that I'm going have to work on. It seemed to roll little hotter on longer putts than my Spider putter. Maybe it's me.

At least the Tank head was solid, not sure about the plastic or whatever it is plate on the bottom of the DLL. I still have my OG drone, it's one of the most stable putters I've ever played with and makes the bag when my putting is in the toilet. Not a fan of the new Drone look.

Spent some time today with both the tank and the dll. Pluses of the tank are great site lines and nice solid feeling head. But the dll seemed a bit more stable to me and felt better balanced overall. I also did some lag putting and the dll may be more responsive to distance control, since the tank is somewhat head heavy feeling. The other thing I really liked about the dll was the longer grip which allowed me to slide my hands up and down until I got just the right feel and posture. btw this was the 35 inch dll and the 36 inch tank.

I think for people that are looking for heads that resist twisting due to overly active hands and fingers, either one is a great choice. I have a belly putter currently but am seriously thinking about the dll.

Anyone using belly putter now and added the DLL? I'm using the spider S belly 43' long, I love it very much and very stable which improve a lot for my putting, I always have the problem with hand/twist movement during the putt. So I'm looking for the DLL 38' for alternate, in case the rule banned the belly putter. Any opinion?
I also have a Scotty Combi belly putter, but I feel that is heavy...so I'm not too sure whether the tank7 feel the same?

I have used a belly putter for the past year with good results, and I am seriously looking at the dll as an alternative. Not so much because I may not be able to use the belly past 2016 but I think the dll might actually be an improvement. The stroke felt simpler and more natural / repeatable than even the belly. But have not pulled the trigger yet. If I do pull the trigger, I may just take out a fw wood and keep two putters in the bag while I make the transition. It is one thing to putt well in the store or on the practice green, but quite a different thing to execute on the course especially in a match.

went from hating putting to looking forward to it. normally hitting a green in regulation meant 'don't screw this up' mentality with a 3putt. recently changed to the dll and i can be aggressive knowing i have confidence on 3-4 footers coming back.

this putter is the real deal.

I went out and tried a few new putter this weekend. I tried the tank, which, as I believe someone else said, was not as stable as I would have liked. I tried the DDL in both the 35" and 38". A little about me: I currently use a 34" Scotty Cameron Del Mar (switched from a Taylormade MA-81). I'm a pretty good putter, especially from outside of 20 feet but I'm not as good as I would like to be from inside of 6 feet (is anyone?) and so I'm always on the search for that holy grail of putters. I also have a fairly straight back/ straight through style of putting with a decent amount of forward press. I first tried the 35" DDL. It set up nicely and the weight of the putter felt great. Although there was an inch or so above my top hand, it felt like there should be more grip and weight above my top hand. I switched and picked up the 38". I started with 5 to 7 footers and knocked my fist 8 in. The putter sets up great and is really easy to line up. The heavy grip really helps to counter balance the putter so although the putter itself is heavy, it's not hard to swing. I think the best think about this putter is the confidence it inspires. I felt like it was actually hard to make a bad putting stroke once I set up. It is also very hard to get off line once you've started your stroke. Hopefully some will start popping up used in a month or two so I don't have to pay $200. Definitely getting one when I can find a good one used.

I am still not certain what would make it better than a Heavy Putter brand heavy putter other than the Taylor Made name. How are these things on longer lag putts?
I not sure why I've seen it be compared to a heavy brand putter multiple times. I don't see the comparison. The head certainly does not feel as comparatively heavy as a heavy putter ( although I've only used the heavy-weight heavy) amd heavy makes no head that looks remotely similar to this head. I certainly think it would be easier to align than a heavy putter model.

Why don't you just compare it to a heavy putter and see? I just don't think there are a lot of similarities myself.
I wasn't so much referring to the actual putter but the heavy concept. I apologize that I was not clear in my comments. I am liking the putter allot as it may replace my Ghost Spider. I also still have my Ghost Corza is I am a fan of the white putter.

How is it working for lag putting?
For lag putting, its certainly an improvement over my ping scottsdale model that I was previously using. I think the fact that I am putting such a true roll on the ball much more of the time with the DLL improves everything. I will say that I have noticed the biggest before and after difference on shorter putts though. Especially in like the 3-5 foot range. With these, I really feel so confident now. Lag putts have been better too, but I am not noticing AS much of a difference between my old putter and the DLL as with shorter stuff.

I tried the 38" DLL yesterday. I have been using an "arm lock" grip / stance with a Futura belly lately and really like the results. The stock 38" is a little too short - can you get it in a 42" and higher loft - 6 or 7 deg?

I was suprised by this putter - expected something similar to a Heavy Putter. These are not similar at all. Much lighter head on the DLL and the shaft is not nearly as heavy. I know that the DLL is counter balanced, but it is not as significant as most reviews seemed to suggest.

Need help from the guys who are just getting them.

I've had mine for almost two months. The thing I love about it is this, I address the ball to get lined up. With my hands on the end of the grip I aim the face to my target, come into my stance, and slide my hands down the grip. The head is very stable and sits PERFECT on the ground and does not move at all. Doesn't twist or rest funny and change my aim.

My buddy noticed the same thing and loved it. He went to go buy one today after falling in love with it and said all the ones in the store didn't do that.

I don't understand your question. You set the putter on the ground to line up and then slide your hands down the shaft and take your grip and setup. Why can't your friend do the same?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. He was saying that all of the models on the rack sat really funny and would twist and turn when he went to slide his hands down and take his grip. When it is resting on the ground it wants to turn on its own.

Do you guys have a bit of a forward press? For some reason the spiders seem to not sit completely square to my eye and seems to be a bit shut. Am I just that blind or bad at putting that I do not know how to line these things up correctly?
I think both the Tank and the dll are not really designed for a forward press. Some of this may be the way the shaft is bent down by the putter head. I thought the same thing as you, at first. After a few putts I realized, for me anyway, that this putter head needs to be just forward of center and the shaft is vertical or maybe even just slightly behind vertical. For me it has almost a feel of a Driver setup where I am "behind the ball". The benefit was I seemed to be able to look down the line really well. I'm just describing the "feeling" I had with the putter, the actual facts and measurements may or may not bear this out. But I did drop a couple golf balls straight down from my left eye and they were slightly behind and inside the ball position at address.

I agree with Atlanta Golfer. I just picked one up and it rolls the ball so well. I did feel that the putter lends itself to having the ball more forward in the stance. That being said, once I got use to it, the balls were rolling on line every time with a very consistent roll. The weight feels great and it is very hard to get the putter head off line once it starts moving. The extra few inches of grip above my hand feels strangely natural. I had a buddy of mine check out the roll from the side and he said that he couldn't notice any bounce to the ball, it just seemed to get rolling right away even on long (25+ foot) putts. Haven't gotten it off the practice green yet, can't wait to try it out tomorrow on the course.

Compared the DLL to the TANK today
Ill echo some of the comments made earlier:

TANK - 38" model tested

is just that - a TANK.

its heavier and not counter balanced as much as the TM and the head weights are within 5gms of one another

the WHP insert was a mistake in this head, as its too soft IMO. I liked it better in the regular WHP line. The white ice or even metal x would have been better.

distance control was all over the map - I think because of the insert

tri keel sole always feels like the toe is up, which I dont like

really nice shape, finish and frames the ball nice tho

grip is comfy and head cover is cool w the camo
DLL - 38" model tested

sets up awesome - flat, nicer bend in the shaft than the TANK

kinda of a plasticky look, but I did the black/white tuxedo look of it (kinda James Bondy)

true roll insert is the real deal and puts a great roll on the ball compared to others

much better counter balance. It feels just like a regular putter and not like its 38" long.

distance control is WAAAAY better. Due to the better counter balancing and true roll insert

the high MOI works. Offline putts are closer to the hole both left and right and distance wise
For me, the DLL was a no brainer
I havent purchased it yet, but its in my signature already and is 100% for sure going in the bag
Have a Scotty Im trying to get rid of first, but if it doesnt sell the DLL is still going in

I have putted w the 38" putters for 2-3 hours this week and picking up my 34"now just feels awkward.

I've been really disgusted with my putting lately and when to Edwin Watts yesterday to see if they had any magic wands. After going through a whole lot of different putters, I stumbled on the DLL in both the 35 & 38' models. After trying to convince myself that the putter was as good as it seems in the store, I took it to the practice green and it seemed to perform even better. we had a tournament today and I was hesitant to use it without any on course history but rolled it good on the practice green again. Glad I did because the only misses were misreads and the distance was perfect. Definitely in the bag for the member-member next week.
