Taylormade Daddy Long Legs...Anyone get one yet?

I purchased a dll in 38 length and used it for 2rounds. Love the way it rolls the ball, but did not like the clicky feeling off the putter face using Prov1 x or taylormade lethal. I was about ready to return the putter to golfsmith when I went to the store and tried other golf ball brands with it. I was amazed how the Bridgestone e6 felt comming off the putterhead. Click was gone and just a soft solid feeling. Used the e6 yesterday and not only was the putter great, all my shots felt great. I was really suprised how much I liked this ball. Try this ball with this putter, you will be suprised.

I have mine today and I ordered at 39". It is great, I did notice it catching on my shirt at the end of my stroke. Note to self, tuck in my shirt!

Just picked up a DLL in 35". They didn't have a 38", but I noticed I was probably choked up close to 2 inches, so I think the 38" would likely be too long.

Putting on the indoor surface at the store, I found it pretty accurate. Like anyone with any club, we'll see how this translates to the course.

I've had a 38" for a couple weeks, and am so far impressed with the results. Like others I had to make some adjustments to ball position, stance, and grip, but now the ball is rolling straight down the line I send it on. It's a little weird to position the ball forward of center, but after some practice I hardly notice it anymore. Distance control is still a work in progress due to the insert, but alignment is such a breeze that even putts moving a little fast still have a chance based on the straight trajectory.

Biggest difference for me has been close range putts with quite a bit of break. Normally I'd use touch to gently roll the ball in along the break and hope I read it correctly. With the DLL I'm being more aggressive and rolling the ball straight through the break with more speed than touch. So far so good, figured if the putter wants to go straight I should let it. Anybody else using the same approach?

I have played twice with the putter and I have not noticed any problems with distance control. I did notice that the feel was a bit muted, but the click at contact is amazing. I loe audible feedback with putters. I tried the stock grip, but it was a little too big for my taste and I really like Iomic grips. So I tossed a Iomic belly grip on the putter, which is close in weight and the muted feel decreased some and I like it even more. The only problem with using a 17 inch grip is I needed to build up the end of the grip a little more to stop movement. The nice part of the Unite grip is it is three pieces so I pulled the last part down and put more tape under it and slide it up. All is well. I hope I fixed the problem completely. I will know more when it dries soon. All in all it is a success. Great stick and it has the smoothness of my GoLo Mid without the controversy.

Which iomic did you get. The stock grip is something like 130g.

I bought one today....only been on the putting green. As others have said it is super stable - it is also leaving putts short, so this is going to take some adjustment. I guess that we can put a heavier weight in the base to replace the 2.5g that is there?

Also the sound of the impact when going for longer putts isn't the best - I'm wondering if we could put something in the void in the base to deaden the plasticy echo type sound?? Cotton Wool maybe?

First round is in the books, and nothing to write home about. 31 putts, but too many misses. Just didn't have the feel for the DLL that I did during the demo. Spent a solid hour to hour and a half on the practice green after the round. I ended up grabbing my old putter for the last 15 minutes > > 18/20 from 10 feet. The DLL will probably be on the block very soon.

It was a failed experiment. I went back to the Winn grip.

I also changed the length from 39" to 37" and now it is money. I was getting worried that I made a bad choice, but it is great.

went out this morning and had 14 holes. Was 1 over after 4 (due to going in the water on 4). What I had noticed during my practice with it yesterday and early on today was that it leaves things short if I used my normal 'feel' for length. once I got this dialed in a bit more I went through the last 10 holes in 7 under my h/c to finish 6 under for 14 holes. Also finishing birdy, birdy with two 20 or so footers.

The thing with this putter is that it is very easy to get it going on your intended line (you still need a good read!). Once I get used to the firmness needed this putter will be excellent. The best thing about it is that I did not miss a single putt within 5ft and no 3 putts. This confidence then feeds into the rest of your game.

I've not been 6 under h/c since I was a 28capper !

The more I dial this in the more I love it. The head feels great, but getting the length right was so crucial for me. I love it at 37" and I like the feel of the Winn 17" belly grip I tossed on. I hope you all are continuing to like this putter. I was very skeptical of the counterbalance theory working well for me because I typically like lighter putters, but this is getting the job done.

I didn't go for this in the end because they haven't reached the stores in Australia yet. I did go with an original ghost spider at 37" counter balanced. I like the weight of it and the length is good for me.

I changed the 4 gram weights for 6 grams, more because I wanted the 6's for my R9 driver but the extra weight in the putter works for me.

Only used it once on the course. Not the panacea I was hoping for, but nothing is. I am more confident with this and that's what matters most

considering how much I loved the weight and smoothness of the DLL but hated the feel off the face, Im going to make a 38 inch replica with the original rossa monza spider. Cant wait to see how it goes

Will a 17" belly putter grip work with this putter?
The stock OEM grip is 15 inches long so yes a 17 inch grip will work fine. But note the OEM grip is 130 grams so you might consider total weight of any grip replacement.

Do you know anything about the counterweight in this putter that should be in the end if the shaft under the grip?

Anyone have a direct comparison on the DLL versus the Cleveland Almost Belly?

I'm trying to determine what, if anything, is the difference, since I don't remember the Cleveland getting the kind of buzz I'm hearing around the DLL. It may be down to it being a TM product versus a Cleveland product, which is completely understandable.

I'm also thinking about Angel Cabrera's Masters win. He used an extended-length Odyssey putter, but did not anchor it. Seems that was the precursor to this trend. I like the trend very much, as I've had great success with the Almost Belly and with my Rife belly putter used without anchoring.

My DLL is going over to the golf shop this weekend probably to be traded for something else. Played four rounds with it, plus all the practice before each round, and it's just not consistent for me. I feel that I have it lined up, make my stroke, and it's an inch or two off line either direction. Weird.

Switched back to my SC Squareback 2 Monday and scored much better and was more confident over the putts.

This happened to me too. My setup was getting lazy. My hands were drifting back. I adjusted in a mirror and have been hitting my starting line since.

Logged 27 holes on my my 38" DLL but without much practice. More 3-putts than 1-putts so far. I can resonate with this statement from 4wedges "I feel that I have it lined up, make my stroke, and it's an inch or two off line either direction." I'm thinking maybe I'm not gripping it in the same place every time.

I'll put in some practice this week before a couple rounds on the weekend.

Worked on my stroke on the practice green with good success. With the heavier club I need a bit slower tempo, and more upright stance so arms can swing freely. Eventually may need to bend to flatter lie.

Swung one today, well right hand version but close enough. It is a lot more stable than the Spider S that was sitting next to it. Definitely going to have to play around with adding some weight to my Ghost Spider.

My first round bak with my old putter today. Surprise surprise I had my best putting round in 5 rounds, coincidentally the last time I used my old putter. My putter is a Odyssey triball with a 50g tourlock counter weight. Off to the bay the DLL goes.

I have mine at 37" and I love it. 15 feet and in I am making more putts than I ever have.

Another thing for people not liking the stock grip you can either add a clevis pin or lead tape at the butt of the shaft and use the grip of your choice and still maintain the right weight to counterbalance...
