Most forgiving irons w/ thinner topline/not-huge soles

Bridgestone is the only answer here. Most forgiveness in a compact package.

I was in the same position as you are late last year....I was playing Razr X's and got to the point where a thinner top line and sole was what I was looking for. Can't really say why other than it just looked better at address and not clunky like the game improvement iron I had been playing. I will say I am not the best ball striker with my irons, but I got to the point with my old Razr X's where I a good swing by me was consitently 'digging' and hitting fat shots. (Again could be the indian and not the arrow) A friend suggested it might be the GI technology that was hurting more than helping me and too look into a forged iron with forgiveness.......

Now I know all of these options are not forged, but I researched and went to my local Golfsmith to hit the JPX 850 Pro, X-Hot Pro, Cobra AMP Forged, Titleist AP1 & Adams CB3 Black Forged. For what looked the best to me at address and provided the forgiveness I was looking for, I ended up with the Adams CB3 Black. It was close between those and the X-Hot Pros, but the CB3's just fit my eye better.

I have played multiple rounds with these clubs and the fat shot or digging is gone. All mishits are still playable with minimal distance loss. From my perspective you should at least compare the CB3's to whatever you test out. Good luck!.......

I play G15s but had the chance to play some Titleist AP2 rentals on vacation. Nice clubs. Didn't feel like I suffered too much on the off-center hits. Classy look.

go get an all hybrid set, then you wont have to worry about irons that dont look like blades.

More forgiving than the 712 AP2?

Go pickup the Titleist 712 AP2's and you will never look back. They are far more forgiving than most admit and will allow you room for game improvement. I could not decide either until borrowing a set of AP2's for a round and ordered my set before going home.

why would people not admit their forgiveness? Personally I think they were overpriced and people think they are gold when they try and resell them. I think there are just as good of options for far less money.
