Las Vegas Callaway shop to make HUGE change.

Recommended Posts

I frequent the Callaway range here in Vegas a lot.

Just caught word the other day (From an employee) that Callaway will be moving out.

Guess who will be moving in??

You guessed it.

TAYLOR MADE.

Hopefully they replace those range balls cause I'm tired of hittin those beat up yellow balls they got.

That sucks. I was there a week ago. Taylormade will spend some serious money I'm sure.
Do you have anything as proof for this?
No proof. Still wayyyy under the radar. My buddy was told by an employee. He mentioned it to another employee and that person was shocked that we had found out about it.

Should happen in the next couple months or so.

I think Callaway has been struggling with that place. It used to have a restaurant called the Back 9 Grill. Callaway kicked out the owner when his lease expired and tried to do it on their own. I guess it wasn't enough.

I've never been there :( But you gotta think that Taylormade has some serious coin they could drop on improving a place. If there was a place to do something like that Las Vegas seems like as good a place as any!

Callaway Rogue ST Max - Tensei AV White - 8*
Taylormade M3 HL - MFS5 White Tie 60S -0.75" (42.5")

Mizuno JPX 923 HMP - 4-G - Recoil 95 S - 2* upright

Callaway X-JAWS - 52/58*

Odyssey OWorks 2ball  -  34" - 1* loft - 71* lie
Slighter Proto 1 #9/Del Mar design - High Toe - Long neck - Deep Milled face - 33", 370gr, lie 71*, loft 4*

That place is way over priced and is always packed. I would much rather go to a few other par 3's around town then there. The place will be even more packed once the name changes.
I rarely play the par 3 course there. It's always so beat up on the tee boxes and nobody repairs their ball marks. Needs some serious TLC.

I would go to another range, but there really isnt one that I know of unless you wanna go to a course. Most courses wont let you hit balls unless you are golfing.

Talked with a couple employees recently. They said the change to TM is supposed to take place on July 1.

They seemed pretty optimistic about it. So far, it looks like they are going to keep their jobs after the switch.

Thing is, I don't wanna drive 10 miles to get to a course that will let you hit balls.

I called the nearest course (Bali Hai), but their range isn't open to the public. I know that at Tuscany you can pay $20 and hit unlimited but their range sucks and 20 miles away. Rhodes Ranch is too far away and their range ain't great either.

I can't think of a single course in this area with a decent range. I live near Blue Diamond / Las Vegas Blvd.

Doesn't Bali hai only have a hitting net? Played there about 7-10 years ago and that's all they had

I'm sure the Phil Mickelson banner will remain. That's the important thing.

Actually, I'm surprised. That range was always crowded when I visited, or drove past.

Yeah, the range balls are subpar.

Too bad the range closed many years ago on the northwest corner of Tropicana and Paradise. For decades there was a grocery store and small shopping plaza on that land. Then in the '90s and into the early '00s it became a decent driving range, with two tiers, a putting green, and option to hit off grass for a small fee. I aimed at the eastbound traffic.

They need to level the practice green and start over. That thing is a circus act.
You mean the putting green? I agree that thing is ridiculous. Got a huge break in the middle that makes level putting impossible.

Maybe TM will change the range a little bit and make it better. Some of the yardages are off for sure and there are gaps all over the place.

Range-ier? Oh come on, you knew someone was going to go there.

As a business owner that sentence makes me chuckle, I have heard it several times in my life about various things (mostly restaurants). If my business is always packed then I am certainly not overpriced...I may in fact be underpriced.

Simple supply and demand.

I'm not opposed to the change. Not really a big deal, but I did notice that they will be using the Ping fitting system and from my understanding it sucks.
They are using nFlight? From your understanding it sucks? Have you ever been on it? nFlight is the most advanced algorithm to be developed to use any of the big 3 launch monitors in the game.

Trackman made changes to their newest software release because of what they learned from how true and accurate nFlight is to predicting ball flight.
