Are we not expecting a new line for the Open Championship?
I expect. . .something. "Leaked" photos, an official mention, a player or two testing, then full fledged buzz at the PGA Champ (long shot)

There's got to be something.
Or maybe not. lol

run of the mill driver with stock shaft
a couple of outdated hybrids
shovel-ier shovels
wedges from same shovel company
some putter with a dead insert and
a hideous grip

isnt the gorge cavity already on the S56's?
You mean, isn't the s56 cavity already on the gorge wedges?
I don't really equate the s56 to the gorge wedge cavity wise. There is a relationship between the dual stabilizing bars of the s56, 2013 Ansers and i20 irons though. Tour S and Gorge both have that reversed diamond mass in the cavity area

Hmm.. I haven't really looked at the back of a gorge wedge closely, but assumed it was almost identical to the Tour-S. My Tour-S wedges look almost identical to the cavity on my s56 PW.

Not really, at all.

Gorge cavity with gorge finish is my guess, should be sharp. Toss in a nice radius grind to improve bounce and BAM you have a winner winner chicken dinner...BB
Good point, It would certainly be a nice change to use the gorge finish as the satin chrome has been used for the last two cycles. It might help them sell a few more with a new finish. Introducing it now won't really impact their bottom line as this is their lowest volume club sales wise. Save the big stuff for next spring.

If TaylorMade is supposedly flooding the market with too much inventory, it begs the question why bring out a new driver. Probably more like the R1 and Stage 2 aren't selling, just like the Razr Fit Extreme wasn't selling so come with a new miracle club....
You seem to have the inside track. Are the S55 coming out in the fall or spring? I was going to consider them along with the new mizuno offering and the X forged.
As I said several reps. I spoke to also told their big accounts they would be seeing the S55 for fall release at their July sales meeting. Everything else is being delayed until next spring. I'm not sure when the sales meetings are (they used to be at the end of July) so any actual data hasn't been forthcoming.. These were U.S. based reps.---I have no idea what reps. around the world are being told...Until they get back with pictures and wholesale prices it all remains speculation. If they aren't releasing the S55s this fall then there would be no reason for a summer sales meeting---as of 2 weeks ago they still were going, so we shall I guess.

awesome pics......they seem similar to me...maybe im looking at the wrong area, but they look like they could be part of the same set

The summer 2013 options have some cool additions to the custom lineups

Summer 2013 PDF shows pretty much the same stuff with the addition of Super Strokes.

The similarities start and end with the insert which has gone back to all black instead of silver. The cavities are completely different; no notched stabalizing bars, the gorge has one big "muscle" beveled up from the tuning port that runs all the way to the perimeter edge, the upper "muscle" is also completely inverted in shape to the S56 stabalizing bars. There's a lot more, but you can't really compare other things like the bigger lower muscle size and smaller cavity proportions from wedge to iron.

I have heard similar.

There wasnt enough technology difference between what they projected for the i25 this year and the current i20. They will release the i25 next year.

I would expect S55's this year.

I can tell you they will not be forged so if you want forged and PING I would say enjoy your Anser irons... I know I am. PING (unlike a lot of OEM's) doesn't release a product until they can improve the current design... S56 is extremely hard to beat as far as performance and retaining a blade-like quality. There is only so much you can do moving CG, increasing forgiveness, etc without losing some of the characteristics that make them their blade style iron.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here, but I'd love the s55 to be closer to the s58 but with new grooves. And I'm hoping so as the picture seem to indicate this to me.
I'd be on board with that. I wouldn't be changing irons after this year if it wasn't for the groove rule change. Love my s58s, and I'd be glad if they were basically the same thing, though it kind of sucks to have to spend $1k+ for basically the same thing as what I already have. Thanks, USGA. :censored2:

The S55's are being released this fall- 100%, absolutely, positively. Sorry OP- Your source was not being truthful. Not trying to debate. If you don't believe it, no worries. The engineer you played with was simply being coy and playing the party line, hey, keep buying the S56's, we don't know when the S55's are coming out. Nothing wrong with that. All companies do it to avoid tanking sales on existing models.

HA HA HA! 100% absolutely positively fail!
