Nice deal. I go out almost every year and play in Scottsdale. Tom Wilcox is the Diector of Golf (an the GM, I think) at Quintero. He's a friend of mine and a great guy. Have a blast.

OK so a few quick random comments on the event.

- Dayum it's a way out there! 72 miles / 1:20 from my driveway.

- The developer who thought that was a great idea had a lot more money than brains. (and a lot less money now).

- They had such a good response, they added a second day.

- While the event was a bargain price of $30, they also had set up on every 4th tee some sort of charity thing, photo, raffle, closest to the pin /hole in one contest etc. $10/$10/$10... Ended up costing me like $80, lol. They did finally offer a free beer on the 17th tee but by this time I was 3/4 of the way into heat stroke so I just took a water.

- I didn't really care for the course that much. While it is a spectacular and scenic setting, the holes just seemed repetitive. Drive up to the elevated tee, hit down the the fairway, hit up to the green. repeat. And FOUR drop shot par 3's really? The greens were perfect though. Perfectly boring. They did roll pure though. I will return to play it again to see if my opinion changes. Right now this course wouldn't make my AZ top 20.

Well, two of the four feature pond carries, so you've got the best of both...

We had a 2:30 time on our way up to Flagstaff for a golf weekend.

The course was in a little worse shape than I expected....and goodness was it hot.

We finally called the proshop on the 7th hole to see if there was a bev cart....we finally saw her on 9, she was clearly exhausted and pissed off at life, we loaded beers and continued.

All of the betting holes and free beer were shut down by the time we were there. It's still one of my favorite layouts, and I dont get the repetitive holes comment. A lot of variation of uphill and downhill if you ask me.
