I personally would like to see the AP1 get a facelift... a little narrower sole, a little less offset through the whole set with the same midsized profile... and we will call them the AP1.5 ... how about that titleist?

Absolutely love Titleist forged irons, but Cobra has had it going on with forged irons with the Pro MB/CB, S3 Pros, and now the AMP Cell Pros! Don't get me wrong the AP2s are a HOME RUN, but they have been lacking in there players MB/CB offerings. I am really interested to see what they come out with. I wonder if they will do the combo set again or not.

I think that the AP1, as is, is a great set for the recreational golfer - and as a 6 to 7 handicap recreational golfer, they work great for me! I would not want to see the offset get reduced - you can get a JPX 825 Pro if you want that. If Titleist stays with only 4 models, those four models are probably going to stay pretty much as is. BTW, I think that the 710 AP1 might have felt a bit softer, and been even a bit more forgiving, than the 712 AP1. But, I can play either, no problemo. BTW, btw, I have the JPX 825 Pros as well, and I prefer the AP1's. It's a totally great all-around set of irons.

I owned both 712 models and honestly found the feel sub-par, I was mad too because the shape and finish on both are excellent. I thought both model 710's felt much better, does anybody know if they utilized a different forging house??? I hope they switch again, overall the 710 irons and 910 driver was superior...BB
100% agree. 710 forgings do feel a whole lot better than the 712. To say that the 712s (especially the CB) are sub-par in the feel department is an understatement for sure. They are the harshest feeling forgings I've ever laid my paws on. Went thru a couple of different combos and came to the conclusion.. they feel like c&@p! Hope Titleist goes with different forging house for the 714 series.

the 712's weren't any harder or more "clicky" than any other Titleist iron I've ever hit, and I've played pretty much ALL of them. My favorite still to this day was the 690.CB's.. didn't care much for anything past that time until the 712 series came out , and that includes a stint with all 3 generations of the AP2's none of which I've ever liked, ZB's, ZM's, etc.
The CB and MB launch and spin very similarly and the CB is more forgiving... so that crazy idea has been done for 10+ years now. A complete overhaul is a little crazy- those clubs are built for tour pros and make up less than 10% of their iron sales. If you want higher launch than MB... you really won't get it from CB but you will from AP2.

I have to agree... I think anybody that feels any discernible difference between 712CB/MB and 710CB/MB had to have them setup with different specs. I've still yet to find ANY iron that feels "bad", "hard", or "clicky" when struck solidly... I don't care if its a Cleveland VAS or a Titleist 712MB. I hit a handful of balls with my 712MB 8 iron today and I cannot believe that anyone would describe them as hard. I also owned a set of all the 710 line save the AP1's and I thought they all felt fantastic too.

Couldnt agree more, I have a set of 660s, 680s, 690s, and now 712s, and didn't like anything they made in between those. The 695s were ok but other than that I was not a fan. The 712s are just the best irons ever made in my opinion, they set up absolutely perfectly and feel great.

I had a full set of AP2 since it came out then I decided to try the MB. It felt great so I switched 7-PW and now I'm waiting on 5-6 MB to replace. AP2 is on the way out of my bag! I'm looking forward to 712U for long irons.

I can't get into any of the new offerings. At the time, I bought a new set of 690.CB's and 690.MB's (complete with the 2-iron). A few months later, I was fortunate enough to find another set of the CB's on demo for $350, so I bought them as well. They feel and sound better than any of the new CB/MB's (I completly agree with the harsher, "clicky" sound on the 712's). I'm playing my 690's 'till the face craters. I'm the same way with the drivers. I played my 905 even after it seemed to loose a little pop because I couldn't get into anything untill the 910's came out. I was smarter this time and bought 2 head/shaft combos, just in case they don't come out with anything I like untill 2018 or something.

That's a lot of typing to say that I think the CB/MB lines need to get back to their roots.

just hit the 710 mb back to back with the 712 mb ...

I own the 710 and would say they both feel very similar ... I like the finish on the 712 better and to be honest it felt a bit softer , but the feedback from the 710 is better ...

Didn't you have Modus 3's or something in your 712's and hated them? I think the shaft has so much to do with the feel of an iron. I've been playing these PING Anser irons for a little while now and a buddy just got them with C-Taper. Both sets feel good to me but the PXi in my set definitely changes the feel. Another great example... my G25 with Tour Spec 7.2 sounds and feels different than the stock 189 shaft. The first time I hit a set of Miura Tournament Blades they had C-Taper X hardstepped once and I hated the way they felt... like I could never find the center of the face. Next time I hit them with regular old Dynamic Gold S400's I thought they felt fantastic.

Feel is very subjective there is no doubt about that. I've just never hit a single iron in my life that I thought felt bad when hit flush.
