QMany's Swing/Sticks (KS Mid-Am Team Champion p. 125)

I thought it was time for me to make a thread on my swing progress.

I played soccer and basketball growing up and never gave thought to playing golf at all. After playing college basketball, graduating, and starting law school, I needed something to do during that 3:00-6:00 time I was so used to practicing. I picked up golf and got addicted pretty quick.

In March 2012, myself and a few (inactive) GolfWRX buddies made our way down to Texarkana. I did a writeup on my trip: 3 GolfWRX Members go to Texarkana. Hilarity Ensues - http://www.golfwrx.c...ilarity-ensues/. While down there, I befriended one of Geoff's really good mini-tour professionals, lv_2_hack.

From there, as many know, it is really tough to get the Slicefixer swing without seeing the man himself for touchup work. Being friends with lv_2_hack, I was able to bounce some ideas off of him and send him video. An accomplished instructor himself in the OKC area, he was gracious with his help.

Lv_2_hack became my "swing coach," if a hacker like myself is even allowed to call anyone his swing coach. We really tightened up my swing plane, as I took it back WAY outside from my time with Geoff, just overdoing things. Also, I had a huge lateral slide with my lower AND upper body. I'm embarrassed to even show video before my time with lv_2_hack. My game was getting much better.

Lv_2_hack recently took his talents to South Beach, or Jacksonville, to see Dan. We'd been following Dan on GolfWRX and understood he was the real deal. Because of short notice, I couldn't make the trip with lv_2_hack.

After seeing the results from his trip, I was sold. Dan was gracious enough to look over some video for me on here at no cost. I only sent him a driver video, because that is what I was spraying all over the planet the most, and he was quick to see the problem. Lv_2_hack and I were on to great things and were really working on getting my R shoulder to work down. Dan was able to pinpoint the cause of this effect. My clubface was WIDE open.

I had been working on the clubface and the R shoulder working down for the past 2 weeks. I know it isn't an overnight fix, but my ballstriking was just so erratic compared to what I was used to. I am planning to play in a Missouri Amateur qualifier in 2 weeks, so I bit the bullet and bought Golf Channel SwingFix lessons with Dan. I thought I was on to the right things with lv_2_hack and Dan, but I just wanted that added reassurance that I was on the right path. I had chased a moving target before, only to see that I wasn't addressing the real problem, and I didn't want to do the same again.

Lesson 1 with Dan: http://swingfix.golf.../matt-1--5/view

Changing wrist conditions is going to be a huge help IMO. The right elbow stuff is good too, but I'd think you'd see some big changes with just changing the wrists.
I think it will help, too. It is just a really tough change.
First, I never noticed but my wrists aren't very flexible.
Second, it is scary as hell to have a pull-hook miss and want to feel more "closed." :o

cbrian, iTeach....will the wrist positions changes kind of automatically lower his right shoulder?

QMany have you tried to really lower your right shoulder to see what it feels like?

Did you take a divot deeper than mine?

This cause and effect stuff fascinates me the most.

I have been working on lower R shoulder. It feels really funky for me. In order for me to not stab it in the ground, I have to be very bent with the R arm and it feels really tight and uncontrolled. I'm used to having that right arm more extended and knowing where it is. When I try to drop the R shoulder and keep the R arm, I just have to trust it.

I usually take pretty shallow divots. Working on this lower R shoulder stuff, I have been digging some trenches. :o Just goes back to the R elbow working with it.

Is it possible to really exagerrate it so you can get a bit more used to it? That way a bit bent means your shoulder is that much lower and you get that much better?

I'd like to see your P6 positions too.

This was at Oak Tree working with lv_2_hack.

I personally don't think so Tembo. We worked on the clubface being shut alot when Q visited a couple of months ago.

I guess if Q just worked on rt wrist, his misses would likely be low and left. He MIGHT subconsciously start dropping rt shoulder a bit more and keeping rt bent a bit longer to try to push path to right a little and delay bottoming out so early.

Totally my take. Dan might say that's wrong.

Lots of Callaway Stuff

That's tough then. I'd get the sense if he really kept his right arm bent like a Mahan just to try...he'd miss the ball. I'm not
seeing how just closing the face will fix the right arm. I have no idea though the cause and effect...so I agree with you lv_2.

I think after he misses some balls, hits it really fat, and/or starts hitting it low and left...he'll go back to his old move. But hey...put in pieces a bit at a time and work with it.

Don't think of the wrist conditions as only changing the face relative to the target. The wrist conditions will also change the orientation of the shaft. Thats why you don't want to get the club more "closed" by only adjusting the grip or clubface at address.

Tembolo, I don't know about automatic, but I believe changing the wrist conditions will "open the door" to the other changes. IMO the right shoulder will change the most when the right elbow location at 6 changes. Footwork/hip slants and amount of right elbow fold will change the location of the right shoulder.

Played in an alumni scramble back home this morning. Can't really judge anything off of it. Did hit a few really solid shots (4i and driver).

Can't get back to the range until Sunday night, but then it is time to grind. Intercity Club Tournament on Thursday and then Missouri State Amateur qualifier two weeks from today.

Nice! How about talking a little about what your feels were out there.

Did you notice you reverted back to something you didn't like? Anything like that?

What were your misses? Give us the juicy details sir!
