when a shaft is "tipped" to accomodate the head design ie blind bore,standard bore Is it actually "tipped"?

If it was tipped and then inserted in a thru bore that would indeed be tipped.

Blind bores and bore thru heads have much the same effect. You are changing the BBTG(bottom bore to ground) depth, essentially the same as tipping the shaft.

Sorry to hijack the thread. He putted awesome this week compared to other majors. I also love the split iron set. No one is too good to benefit from a cavity back long iron. Its all about what you like.

Not a dumb question at all. They have coded the hell out of them this year. JR is playing the TD5 which is a shallow face prototype. More forgiving and slightly higher spinning than the R1 V2.

You are making too much of that comment. 6* open doesn't leave you much effective loft when squared up to target line, which is why I stated that maybe he prefers to start the ball to the right of the line.

I think if you look closely, it's actually " E O G " not COG... Meaning " End Of Grip "

His lofts are only 1 degree stronger than my stock Cleveland 588 CBs.....thought tour guys were setup way stronger...

Wow me n Rosey have almost same exact shaft setup. I use the Matrix Ozik 6m3 Black Tie in my RBZ Tour TP and the 7m3 in my 3 and 5 woods all in X flex tipped 1 inch. I also use KBS CTapers in my Taylormade MB blades X flex which is only a few grams heavier than the S+. Been using this shaft setup for over a year now and don't see myself changing for a long time as my dispersion is so tight with the Black Ties along with my length it's a lethal combo. I am bombing my RBZ Tour TP tour spoon 13.2 degrees of loft well over 275 and is my weapon for long par 5's and short par 4's. Guess good players think alike and after watching Rose hit those long irons into 17 and 18 at Merion he is defiantly striping the ball with his current setup I see now reason for him to change anything goin it to Muirfield. Really cool to kno we have almost same exact specs, which I wouldn't recommend to just anyone as the profile spec wise is very low tourque and produce low spinning bombs! Thanx for posting...

Pretty cool, 3 iron is pretty wacky, otherwise he stick close to 4 deg gaps, nice to see him carrying gap/sand/lob combo, short game is where it's at baby!

Negligibly long...people like you make me laugh. Lemme guess, you're a +3 handicap and hit the ball 300+ yards every drive? Funny you didn't mention that Rose is negligibly straight (hits a ton of fairways and greens) and a negligibly good putter. We all know driving and distance are a very minute part of the game...
