Brooks Koepka - not a lot of American interest?

Brooks is the real deal, 24 years old and loads of talent. 3 time All-American at FSU. T4 at the US open, and T15 at the PGA last season. 4 Challenge tour wins and now this Euro victory. Nearly won the Frys.com this year. He was under the radar last year, but not anymore. He will be fun to watch in 2015, another young gun to challenge Rory.

What a great win for Brooks. I have been a fan since his college day and especially after I met him and had a chance to talk to him. I hope he plays more on the PGA tour in the future.

He's got status on both tours now. We'll be seeing him more. Sounds like his gamble to go play in Europe enabled him to get to the PGA Tour faster than the Web.com. He learned to play professionally early, got his card earlier and got full playing privileges earlier. It wasn't easy, but it was easier.

Koepka wins Euro Tour Rookie of the Year award

November 25, 2014

The European Tour Rookie of the Year award is staying in South Florida.

A year after his roommate Peter Uihlein was named the top rookie on the European circuit, rising star Brooks Koepka received the same honor on Tuesday.

Koepka, who finished eighth in the season-long Race to Dubai, won the Turkish Airlines Open and recorded four other top-10 finishes. He was voted ahead of Tyrell Hatton of England.

Like Uihlein, Koepka headed to Europe following a stellar college career and failed attempt at Q-School. The former Florida State standout won three times on the Challenge Tour – Europe’s equivalent to the Web.com circuit – and earned an automatic promotion to the European Tour.

“Winning the Rookie of the Year means so much,” he said in a release. “I’ve worked so hard this year, and to see the results is fun. To cap the year off with a win in Turkey has made this year special, and it’s a goal I’ve been working for since I was able to come out on tour, and that was the goal starting the year.”

Now inside the top 50 in the world rankings, Koepka, 24, intends to play both tours next season.

No offense to the man, or to the Challenge Tour. But It seems like one needs more than winning on the ET's 2nd tier tour to be "one of the hottest names in golf"

Like Lorta said, if he keeps it going, then he'll get his due.

Good luck to him though

Looks like your best wishes have finally paid off. ;)
BK is Bubba long to boot. 490 yard par 4 he hit driver PW. 18th hole he hit 331 yds to Bubba's 335. And he sure did wow them with his win in Turkey about 5-6 weeks ago.

He was very impressive yesterday, hang around all day and then look advantage of his length on the back 9.

When I was typing this, I was thinking that the first I saw of him was at a Challenge Tour event in Aviemore in 2013. I then thought to myself, wait was it only two years ago, maybe it was three but I was right first time around. That's an incredible upward trend from Challenge Tour to PGA Tour winner in a year and a half and that's not even mentioning playing with Tiger in the USPGA and almost winning the Fry's also in 2013. Loved the way that he took on his tee shots on 17 and 18 yesterday as well. It was like there was no pressure at all. Really cool to watch.

Hopefully he can keep the consistency for the rest of the season. A battle between him and Justin Thomas for rookie of the year might be on the cards.

Yeah his tee shots on 17 and 18 were real gut checks. He passed those tests with flying colors. If he can stripe it in those situations then I believe he will be a factor for years to come in majors as well. All around solid game and the quiet confidence that you can't teach. I like his game. Jordan S. is my favorite young player but I'm not so sure that Brooks doesn't have an even brighter future with his length.

I like his bowed left wrist at impact... bent right arm and Lag..
.. no right arm straightening or forearm rotation. .. cant pull or pull /hook, with right hand arc inside arc of left hand at impact.

Love watching this guy. Hoping his win motivates Uhlein to come play over here more. Koepka is LOOOOOOOONG
Uhlein's got the lefts, when/ if he gets them out of his system and can put four rounds together, then ,YES!

From the guy that over-hyped Koepka 2 years ago. :)

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
