This is the first hole at my club, The Pittsburgh Field Club. This pic was from the tips, at 482, and it plays as a 4 from all tees cept the Ladies, where it's a 5. It runs from 465-477yds from the reds through blues. The road bisecting the hole is 302yds on the left behind that trap, which starts at 282yds, and was placed prior to the 2003 US Am, which we co-hosted with Oakmont, and was placed to stop idiots like me from takin it down the left side and over the road in that area. The road is 317 center fairway and 332yds down the right side. The green is about 18 yards past that trap on the left front.

Freddie, took it straight down the middle and cleared the road by about 20+ yards, lol. That day he had a 66(Par 70 blacks, 71 all others). The next day, he would put it in the left tree line, again about 15-20 yards over the road, and that day he would break my BB partner's record of 64 by one, carding a 63, which stands to this day.

Our #12, a 487 yard Par 4(tips) and 435-465 from the other tees, is in Arnie's 54 Greatest Holes of Golf, and while I don't believe that it's nearly as beautiful as #1, it is simply, a Beast, lol. Long and small green.

Anywhoo, it's your typical old school eastern track, ala Merion. From the tips, it's a shade under to a tad over 6900 yards. For our Club Championship/Championship flight, USGA & Pro events, If you can hit fairways or hit out of 4-6" rough, throw darts and putt 12-13+ greens, you can get some birds. But unless your Freddie, or my former BB partner, you're not gonna over power this track.

It's a solid test

Here are some photos from Toftrees that I have taken recently. The first two pictures are of hole #8, which is a beast. It plays to 634 yards from the tips, where the first picture is from. A good drive gets your first shot on the fairway. For the big hitters, it will roll into the rough patch separating the fairway.

The third picture is looking back to the 9th teebox from the 9th fairway.

Here are some photos my dad took of me at Penn National a few weeks back. Their courses were in great shape, and I enjoyed playing both a wide open links course - despite the howling winds and the tight resort course. This hole had wind in the face, and water protecting the entire right hand side for your second shot to a tight green.

This is one of my favorites, located here in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is private and although not that tough to get on, it is somewhat expensive at $150 guest fee. However, it is a luxury to play there. Here is a picture in the fall when the leaves are changing in the mountains which serve as a beautiful back drop where the lake splits the two Nicklaus designed courses.
