Spyglass Hill - #14. Less photographed that the coastal holes, but it is beautiful among the trees.

@BIM_Monkey It's a lot of fun in the summer, links style bounces and run make you have to plot your way around a little more.

I still think the 18th is one of the most testing finishing holes in the area.

I'm looking forward to it. As I enjoy having to pick and think my way round a course.

The upturned saucer type greens look like they will place a premium on accuracy as they are not very big and have some big run offs.

9 and 18 are tough holes to finish each nine. I also think from 14 on is quite challenging if the wind is coming from the direction of the clubhouse.

Hopefully (Covid Permitting) I'll be playing the County Foursomes there in April so might see you then.

Thanx.  I was just curious.  This course must be the premier public course in Orlando area in terms of price and condition.

Price, condition ... and design. Lots of width off the tee, fantastic greens, great bunkering, a nice piece of land, especially by Florida standards. Lots of elevation changes. There is only water on two holes, which is a big plus IMHO. The greens are very fast and you have to leave your approach in the right places. Be prepared to three putt if you don't.  My only nit is that all of the par threes are downhill shots. However, the greens and distances are sufficiently varied to keep them interesting

This is the 9th hole at Vistoso in Oro Valley that shut down a couple years ago. Drained the lake. I did hear they will be reopening the course with new owners but who knows when

The multiple HOA's surrounding the course had a chance to come together and work a deal to keep it open, but they didn't.

Unlike AZ National, which was in the same situation.

I only played it once before it closed, but I remember there were a few holes that were obviously "squeezed in" to the development.

Man that’s a shame. When I played it the course was literally in perfect condition. I’ll never forget the guy cutting the edges of the bunkers with shears.

Del Urich in Tucson. They now have Phat Scooters for $15 extra that you can ride all the way up to the green. Even has a cooler, headlight and bluetooth speakers under the seat.

Both of those were on crappy weather days for sure. Triggs was the first week of the season and it still felt like Winter. I had played Red Tail several times on beautiful days years earlier, but those were before I started photographic courses. I do have some nice pix of the Ledges in Maine (about an hour north oif Boston) on a beautiful Autumn day.

Fun course. Not overly difficult in my opinion. Great views obviously, but nothing overly memorable. I’ll play it again when I’m out there for work again in a few weeks.

you must be a good player finding this course not overly difficult.  Many find it very difficult regardless of what tee box you play from.
