Dunbar is a really good course. That ancient wall is in play on several holes. Here's a photo... also from 2013.

Castle Stuart - June 18, 2022 - It was a clear day and sunny for most of the round, but very cold (in the 40's F) with a howling wind. At least there was no rain. I had to buy a ski cap in the pro shop to keep my ears warm and my baseball cap would be blown away. Castle Stuart was the most photogenic course of the nine we played. It's more manicured than the other links we played which have more of a rougher and wilder, more natural feel to them. Castle Stuart reminded me of Kingsbarns (also a Mark Parsinen course) and is sort of a hybrid in style of Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs (coincidentally, Cabot just acquired Castle Stuart).

Brora Golf Club, June 19, 2022 - a rainy, windy, overcast day, but still a very fun round on an excellent course. Brora is on the opposite end of the "wild & wooly" spectrum from Castle Stuart. There are sheep on the course and there are bits of white wool on the course, which made it confusing when looking for my ball 😄

Mr. Blake... you will find those holes at Lake Padden Golf Course in Bellingham, Washington.  (Anywhere close to your hunch?)

Hah! Well sort of. No surprise though. Those first group of shots looked a bit like Nor Cal so at least I'm on the right coast. It could have been Germany for all I knew 🤣.  Someday I hope to take my fly rods and clubs and fish and play all the the way up there and back.

You have a few courses down in Monterey I wouldn't turn my back on. Though cashing out the ol' 401K or refinancing the home helps to pay those greens fees.

🤣I didn't even think to look at your profile where it says "Bellingham!" DUH. Yeah if you don't live here golf can be ridiculously expensive, but it's much cheaper with all the public course memberships available.

Golspie Golf Club, Golspie, Scotland, 19 June 2022 - It was another very windy day with the wind blowing toward the sea. Golspie is an interesting course with a mix of links, heathland and parkland holes.

Did you hear anything about the course they were planning to build north of Dornoch down at the far end? Last I heard there were some problems with environmental issues. 

Personally I dont like the idea as it will start to crowd out what is a delightfully remote small town golf destination.

It’s Embo right?  Something like that.  I’ve heard it was off, then on.  Seems to be some issues.  I like more good golf but also see your point.  Regardless I love Royal Dornoch.
