Those MP4s look absolutely effing amazing

However, I would love it if mizuno released a completely blank blade with the exception of the running bird logo smack bang in the middle of the muscle back.

Or even better, this.

I really wish they'd listen!!

I've seen that before, looks awesome. Still prefer the running bird on its own

What would be the best Mizuno model to combo the MP4's with? I'm thinking 7 or 8-PW in MP4 and 4-6 in what?? These are freaking gorgeous!!

Thanks...

I think you hit the nail on the head with this combo set. i know I couldnt hit the 4's like they are ment to be struck on the longer irons.

I would go with

mp54's 4,5,6
Mp4's 7-p
have 5 rounds on mp69 p-8. Mp64 6/7. Mp59 5/4

Shot 2 of my lowest rounds back to back with these irons....72/72

the 69 needs to be struck pretty perfect but it is 8iron through wedge...deadly accurate though.....64 feel unbrlievable and allow more room for error....59 is most bit feels lil clicky....

the sole grind is what matters most to me....I notice that is what seperates my ballstriking....cannot play big soles, idk if its our turf or my swing but just doesnt work. ...

I guess there's no point waiting for the new nike blades. I'll just take the MP4's!! :D
I REALLY want to give Nike a chance as they won me over completely with the Coverts. But without any look at new Nike until September most likely and they are still not even saying they are bringing a bladed set.......I am not sure I will be able to wait! These MP-4's look like a gift from the heavens to me.

OK just to be clear - the mp54 are not in the same bracket as mx23 or jpx pro or any iron with an X in it. They are the direct decendants of the mp52 and mp53 - sitting between the mp64 and the jpx825pro in the line up.

They are MP clubs - meaning little offset, thin top lines, relatively narrow soles etc.

The PW 9 8 are cavities - and less cavity / overall sleeker look than 53 and 52 (as confirmed by 2 seperate Mizuno staffers)
The 7 -3 have the undercut cavities

Personally I think the mp54 looks just perfect for a large number of golfers that want a player look with added forgiveness. The badge is pretty subtle - not exactly Amp orange territory.

Looks to me like there is only a muscle cavity in the 8-PW, and an actual hollowed-out cavity in 3-7. If so, that would be consistent with the design of the MP-53s. Let's just hope that Mizuno kept the 9 & PW slimmer, like the MP-53s and unlike in the MP-52s, because the chunky 9 & PW in the MP-52s did not seem to flow from the 3-8 irons of the same set.

Mizuno irons will always hold a place in my heart. The T-Zoid's were my first players irons and I loved those things. All the good players in the late 90's used Mizuno MP-14 or 29's. I then played a combo set of 57-67's and enjoyed those but not as much as those T-Zoid's. I still pull them out every once in a while with my 975D to walk down memory lane!

If I went back to blades I would buy the MP-4's in a heartbeat.

I think you need to change your name to '3-piece suit'. Why? Because first off, EVERYONE looks awesome in a three piece, let's be honest. And the fact you have three different iron sets making up a combo set if flat out awesome in itself.

I've never played Mizuno irons and them along with Pings (also, never played their irons) have ALWAYS been in the back of my mind as something I wanted to try. Those 54s are good looking sticks and if they have that cut cavity in the longer irons and more of a muscle back in the short irons...I like.

I saw this picture the other day and wondered about a new Mizuno Iron - looks like something different to me..

Robert Rock's a TM player but I'm pretty sure that's got Mizuno stamped on the muscle.

http://www.gettyimag...photo/171859783

I'll try and get a good look at the Mizuno stuff at the Open this week.
He plays TM MB's 4-pw and an MP-69 3 iron......followed him at the Irish open for the 1st round and saw every club in his bag close up. Don't get the idea, maybe TM don't make a 3 iron MB???

He is a beautiful iron player though

MP-4's are beautiful. Look like a nice, natural progression from the MP-69. Nothing too fancy that has been changed, which is probably exactly the right approach. Also, contrary to a number of the comments in this thread, I think it would be a shame to dull down the shine of something so pure and simple...but, to each his own.

Well I am an 825pro guy with a backup set of 03 Nike Blades (Training purposes) so I can manage both. I hit the MP59's and didnt like the feel, it was how I would say....clicky. Anyways these 54's look beautiful and the plastic inset doesnt bother me.. 825pro's got the same darn thing *sigh* im waiting for it to fall off which surprisingly it hasn't. I would assume with the pocket cavities the 825pro's and the 54's would be pretty similar, (Yes yes, lofts) but I cant imagine the offset and the sole's would make that much of a difference especially to the players it should market to. I like the 825's triple sole, and 54's look like your basic sole's.

So question at hand, are these 54's traditional loft, better face inserts etc etc. Or is it just something beautiful and fresh but no major performance updates? we shall see in a couple of weeks.....getting excited!
