I should be there a little after 11, going to hit a bucket at the range. I have on a blue Puma shirt and will have a red, white, and black Sun Mountain bag.

I'd say we all played like garbage. But, we had fun, the weather was perfect, the beer was cold, etc. I swear they are holding the Brookledge Open tomorrow or something, the pins were in impossible locations, and the greens were super fast for this time of year. I'd say everyone gave away handfuls of strokes on the greens today.

Updates? How did everyone play?
[/quote]

Just a bunch of 300+ yard drives and 200 yard 7 irons all day. That's the standad for being on here right??

In all seriousness it was a little (or a lot) rough but the weather was great and I'd say we all had fun just being on the course. But I do appreciate everyones patience for letting me play from the blue tees. I know some people are bothered by it but I don't hit it long enough so I stick to what I'm comfortable with, so thanks for that as well. All in all it was enjoyable.

Sounds like Brookledge is in great shape so early in the season.

75 today at brookledge with a triple(bladed it over the green on 10 from 115 dead center in fairway, had to channel my inner Mickelson to get it out of the bushes) and 3 3 putts... Some of those pins are insane, like back right on 8. Had a 10 ft eagle putt on 3 and missed. Missed 8 putts inside of 10 feet for birdie/eagle.... Crazy game

I think the course is in phenomenal shape. I'd say the greens were a solid 11. They were flying, and really smooth. They really have their stuff together to have the course in that kind of shape this early in the season. Would recommend that for anyone to play. If you guys want to play there next weekend, I'd definitely be interested.

Let's do a get together next month at Windmill. Hey JW, can you play this Friday? I have the day off, was planning on playing somewhere.

The greens were lightning fast, especially for this time of the year. Lots of scared putts out of our group Saturday. I played Thursday and Saturday there, they actually moved a couple pins from hard locations to impossible ones. I asked during the round if they were holding the Brookledge Open sometime soon, based on the pin placements. It was like Sunday major pins- every one was on the side of a bank it felt like. How much fun were the flags on 5, 7, 11, 13, and 18? Those greens are tough enough if they stick the pins in flat parts of the greens, let alone putting them three paces from the fringe behind a bunker and on the side of a hill.

Yeah they were pretty insane. 13 was near the spine which is a pretty tough putt. The tough ones for me are always 3 7 and 12. I don't think I've ever made a putt over 3 feet on 12, I just can't read it. There weren't very many people there at all for being a sunday. I thought being a holiday would draw more people for an early round, but I guess I was wrong.

Is anyone interested in having a weekly round of 9 between 4-5:00? I've been playing once a week with one guy but I don't think I can take playing with him much more. It seems like after every shot he has to complain about something. Then he'll proceed to tell me how he can't seem to constantly hit it 275-300 yds every drive and how he should've clubbed down and try to make a passive brag about how far he thinks he hits a wedge iron/etc.

Maybe I'm asking to much to want to just play a relaxing 9 after work and have a good time

Brett, I'm always down for a quick 9 if I'm free. Just shoot me a text and I'll play if I'm able. Unfortunately, I usually get about one day a week I can sneak in 9, one day I can play all day, and one day of league.

I've played Kent State three times this year.
Saturday the 19th $19 with a cart.
Easter Sunday; $22 with a cart
The greens are in great shape and rolling real nice.
Might not be the longest course but for the price not to bad.

Just came across this thread and wanted to warn everyone of Little Mountain Country Club. Usually a great course and I have played there a couple times a year. Played in the Cleveland junior open this weekend (don't ask how it went, been to the range 2 times before the tournament) and the greens were dead! There were maybe 3 or 4 greens that were actually green.. Every other wan was either fully crusted and browned... It was like they had mold or something on them. Just warning everyone!

Thanks for the heads up. I usually make it up to Little Mountain once or twice a year and love it. Last year I played there a little later in the year, maybe August? It was really lacking compared to it's usual condition. Maybe Jimmy needs to stop focusing so much on Tee-it-Up and birdie dances and get that course back to what it should be? It was cheap when I played there last season, though, I want to say like $20 18/ cart through GolfNow. Personally, I'd rather pay a few more bucks for a good track than a cheap dog track, though.

Has anyone played Fowler's Mill yet this year? I saw they have some great rates on GolfNow (so far... I'm sure those deals will disappear once the weather gets more reliable), I was thinking about making the drive there sometime soon. Though they have the aeration warning on the site, $32 there is a good deal. I've never gotten to play there, and have heard nothing but great things about it.

How about Manakiki? One of my favorites up that way, can't wait to make it out there as soon as I can. Hopefully on a weekday so I don't get stuck in the traffic jam that course can become.

I play fowlers 3-4 times a year, and I've never had a bad experience there. Haven't been out there this year yet though.

Played Fowlers Mill about a week and a half ago. It was my first time and I was very impressed. Greens were pretty quick and they beat up me and my buddies. And we are not slouches.. We all play to a 6-7 hc.. Fairways were beautiful and the rough wasn't too long but not to short. It was really a nice track. Would love to head back out there. Some of the holes play completely different from the back tees. I was amazed at how long it played with no roll out because of the wetness. I would recommend it

So, we probably all know about GolfNow, but does anyone here know of any other websites (18network, whatever) that offer green fee discounts in this area? Or courses worth signing up for e-mail/ text specials? What courses offer free birthday rounds or other good coupons on their website?

Yeah, I'm a total cheapskate (not really), I'm always looking for a deal on golf!

Pine Hills has discounts on your B-day and you can sign up on their website.

The Metro-parks offers the Bonus Program where you get a free round after you play like 5-6 rounds on one of their courses. Although that costs money to sign up for.

Despite not being the best course in the world, Brandywine has some really cheap email specials if you get on their e-mail list.

Beware of Sleepy on weekends...It gets bogged down and the average nine holes can get stretched into a long time. Too bad they dont let you off the back. Its just the second hole that creates a massive bottle neck.
