Hey guys, I'm interested. I live in Bay Village so it's a bit of a hike, but I've travelled further for a round of golf. Please count me as a probable, as I have to make sure I'm not picking up my college student or another family related activity.

I'm cool with whatever, just hope this snow melts so I can go to downview and see the ball in the air. Sunglasses with an orange lens work pretty well though when there is snow on the ground.

I was thinking about getting new lenses for my Oakleys for this reason. Which orange ones work the best? I have the iridium blue now, and they seem to help follow the ball a little, but still lose the ball against the grey sky and snow on the ground quite a bit.

Amber colored ones are great for reading greens. I lose the ball at a certain distance but that's just me needing glasses but I have worn Oakley's with amber lenses for over 15 years and it makes a big difference.

I like the iridium in normal conditions, seems to make the ball stand out against a high blue sky well and the contrast is much higher when reading the green. But, the iridium doesn't seem to help a whole lot when the sky is grey or helping to contrast the ball against the snow on the ground.

I would like to play but I can't commit until closer to the date.

Also- I'm sure if there's ever a need to do Ellsworth I can get that worked out too price wise. I've actually never played Brookledge.

I think I have the fire iridiums, but sunglasses are something I know absolutely nothing about. Pretty sure though

I have heard good things about the G30 red iridium lenses, but haven't had a chance to check them out.

Are you relatively close? Me and a buddy of mine who used to work there play there once and awhile after work so once this snow melts we'd have no issue with another player joining if you're interested. We used to play there all the time when they would let us play for $9, but that was years ago before I had stopped golfing.

Any lefties here interested in a new medium size TM glove? I wasn't paying attention when I ordered the glove and it's for a left handed golfer. It's a Taylormade Stratus glove. I figure $10 for anyone local?

its a solid hour away for me. but it seems like a cool place to play and also id like the chance to meet some guys from here.

It's a solid course. Very natural, no gimmicks. Not super long, either, but you need to be accurate and manage the course. I think it's very underrated.

I know they were closing because they were out of balls and weren't able to pick the range. I know Joe went last weekend and hit balls, maybe he knows if they've fixed that problem. I work out in Montrose, that Golf Improvement Center on Rt. 18 towards Medina seems to open more regularly, and there's a coupon on their website for days the temp is either below 45* or over 80% chance of precipitation. I think it's like $7 for a large bucket with the coupon. http://www.thegolfimprovementcenter.com/

I thought downview was closed any time it under 20 or something like that? Honestly even if they weren't it would still be pretty unbearable. Need to get some warmer weather! It's almost march!

I hit the Golf Improvement Center before work today. Weather wasn't too bad today, actually pretty nice. The place was packed, I had to wait for a stall to open. Worked up a little sweat, which was nice, since I overdid it a little last night. Downview has a sign that they close when the temps are below 30*, but I've been there when it's colder than that. It's not too bad with a heater on you when it's cold, I usually can stay pretty warm with a mock and sweatshirt on. But, seriously, it's freaking March and we're worried about it being too cold to go to a driving range. We should be thinking about where we can sneak out for a round, not shoveling snow tomorrow!

Dang that place is expensive! 7 bucks for 40 balls... They better have jet engines keeping you warm for that kinda money. Probably going to check out the windmill golf center in the next week.

I'm cool with that as a backup date. For me personally, if we do have to move it due to weather, I will need a couple weeks to make sure my schedule at work jives with it. So, second week in May would work for me. Hopefully this weather gets the hell out of here and we don't have to worry about it.

What format do we want to play? Just want to play stroke for fun, or play some kind of game? Like I suggested before, maybe doing a two man WRX'er & non WRX'er (or whatever) teams would add more bodies to the group and maybe get us a little better deal on greens fees. Plus, maybe get some more people involved here that otherwise wouldn't be. Maybe two man scramble or best ball shamble, plus skins and a couple proximities? Just a thought, I know personally I don't want it to get too competitive or expensive, but something to keep it interesting. Maybe like $10 a man for skins and figure out a fair dollar figure for prizes, maybe the 1st and 2nd place finishers get their greens fees or whatever. I also know that I personally don't want to have to worry about figuring out handicaps or anything, I'd hope that everyone would just keep it honest and not go out and get a ringer if we played a team game. I'm more looking forward to hanging out and playing some golf, meeting you guys for the first time, have a couple beers. Just spit balling here, thoughts?

Honestly, I'm just in it to have fun and meet some others who share the same passion for the sport. I'm not really worried about handicaps, who is the best/worst or anything like that, I just want to play golf and enjoy the outing. Maybe we can decide teams by just picking names out of a hat to figure out pairings to keep it simple? As for format it doesn't matter to me either, although I'm personally not much of a betting guy on the course (especially because I'm not that great!).
