I play an old Titleist 503h 19* bent to 17* shafted w/ a RIP Alpha 105x. I generally hit a high ball, and have found that I spin most hybrids too much for my liking. This thing hits mid trajectory bullets but can land softly on greens as well. I've always preferred the look of long irons to hybrids and feel like I can work an Iron shaped club better than a hybrid. Depending on the course, I'll take the 503 out and put in a 909f 18*.

Mizuno MP-H4 2 iron shafted with Matrix Program 130. Why, because I just flat out suck with the driver. I think its more mental than anything. I'm at the point where I just want to be in the fairway.

I have an old BeCu 2 iron. Learned to play it and still carry it for some holes on a course I play. Like the OP I don't hit it 4 miles, but I get what I want/need from it and it is dependably straight. I think more people could learn to play long irons they just are not around that much especially now with iron sets staring with 4 iron down.

I use them because they're shorter and give me more control. I enjoy the game more when I keep the ball in play, and would rather lose driving distance in favor of control. I get about 250yds with mine. I have a 17* MacGregor VIP Tourney V-FOIL that is +1.5" over standard that is good off the deck and gives a beautiful ball flight. I also have a forged Mizuno Fli-Hi 3i bent stronger and lengthened, as well as a few others in 15*.

I have KDE Tour HDI 17* because I like the control and I can't control the ball flight better. The 5W I had was very long but I didn't feel comfortable working it like I do an iron. The KDE I can move it forward and hit it high enough to hold the greens I play or I can put it back and hit this little low bullet that just runs when it lands.

The 5W was very long and I hit a few par 5s with it, but I am more accurate with the driving iron and the distance loss is worth it.

My control with a driving iron is a lot better and easier to control my tempo with. I tried going with a 5w this summer and it was too inconsistent for me. The distance was the same between the too as well. The super dhy is a great club from the tee and deck. I am going with a mph4 because I prefer the feel of it over the dhy especially with the pxi shafts

    • APPLY NOW: L.A.B. Golf MEZZ.1 Putter (Early Access) Member Testing! 10 Testers Needed!
L.A.B. Golf is choosing ten GolfWRX members to receive their MEZZ.1 putter early and put their brand new product to the test before reporting back to the community about what they see. The selected testers will be one of the first to experience the MEZZ.1 from L.A.B. GOLF, their newest Lie Angle Balanced design, ahead of it's January 2022 launch!

About The L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Putter
MEZZ.1 is our new mid-mallet putter that’s fully CNC machined from a billet of 6061 aircraft aluminum (body) and 303 stainless steel (midsection) to create our best-feeling — and we think best looking — putter to date. It includes 10 weights (eight on the bottom, two on the sides) that allow us to individually build each putter to a golfer’s exact specifications.

      How To Apply
In a post below, answer the following questions.

      1. City, State?
      2. Handicap?
      3. What is your current putter?
      4. Have you ever used a L.A.B. Golf putter?
      5. Why do you want to review the MEAZZ.1 putter?
      6. Do you agree to participate in an ongoing testing thread, posting reviews and photos?

That's it! @labgolf and GolfWRX will choose the testers in about 2 weeks! This testing event is for good-standing members in the USA only!
