I do not think adjustable drivers are as evil a gadet as some would have us believe. They are an evolution of the product AND an easier solution to club fitting.

Go to a demo day have the rep watch your ball flight, change the setting , maybe the shaft.......continue till best results are obtained. I don't see one thing wrong with this, you can even do it indoors on a monitor and walk out with product in hand. Yes the manufacture wants to sell you product and we as consumers have become impatient and want everything right now.

All of the above was written by a guy who does not own a single adjustable driver. My Ping Rapture V2 with BB has not been bestest by anything I have tried. If an adjustable drivers does beat it then it makes the bag. I am 55 years old but I try not to subscribe to the flat earth society.

Nope. Wishon 919THI now and was playing a Mizuno MP-650. I've known my specs for years (prefer TRUE loft around 10.5* and 1*) open so I have no need to adjust. I can easily swap shafts myself so the shaft aspect is overrated for me.

I just love the look and solid feel of a glued head.

I've been using a G25 since they came out in February, but haven't touched the setting since I left the golf shop. Did I buy the G25 because it was adjustable? No. I purchased it because I had some disposable income, was getting 10-15 more yds than my previous driver and I thought the matte black was sexy. The ability to swap out a shaft is just an added bonus, though I haven't needed to tinker. I've been perfectly happy with the stock TFC.

this is part of the problem. because tolerances are so terrible, and adjustable drivers potentially make that worse, you get fit for certain setting with a demo club, then walk out with an off the rack item that isn't even close to the one you got for for.

I played with my adjustable driver. It was solid as well, and I felt no reason to change anything either.

Why wouldn't you get fit with your driver your gonna use? Most people understand that all drivers aren't completely the same. That doesn't make sense to me since it's so easy to get fitted with adjustable drivers...

As stated by previous posters here, adjustable drivers came about from the OEM's desire to lower their production and inventory costs. Scotty Cameron introduced this concept a few years ago, producing one putter head which uses interchangeable weights.
I doubt manufacturers will ever go back to producing driver heads in multiple lofts. Why produce four different heads when you can save money by producing one ?
This concept also helps preserve retail price profit margins, since odd lofts will no longer have to be as heavily discounted.

I, like most, have an adjustable driver and FW but never change the settings once it was dialed in. I will say this, however, my driver sounded absolutely terrible (Razr Fit with Diamana D+). It was very muted and just sounded weird overall. I changed the weights from fade, to draw bias (without telling anyone) and IMMEDIATELY the sound changed. It sounded like a normal driver lol. Even my playing partners noticed that it sounded normal for once, even without telling them anything.

I think it's a gimmick to sell more drivers while reducing overhead. It also allows us to play on our inner hoes without buying new drivers because we're buying shafts left and right.

I haven't gotten on the single loft driver bandwagon. They can still make them in lofts for average joes too and not just tour guys.
That is waaaay too bottom-line oriented.

I was a little skeptical, but I like being able to fine tune. It is just another thing to be able to market given all the limits on performance. It also came about right when the groove rule was implemented. Almost like a peace offering to the OEM's that had to re-tool all their iron and wedge production, but here, you can sell adjustable hosel drivers now. We changed the rules for you.

i'm not talking about getting fit with your current driver, i'm talking about the masses looking to purchase the latest driver. they test out a demo club then walk out with an off the rack club that because of poor tolerances, won't even be close to the demo they hit so well.

Only thing I like about adjustable drivers is the ability to switch out shafts with ease.

Very interesting point. I have a shaft puller so I don't need one, but never looked at it that way.

But NO. I know how to swing the club. WWJVS (What would Jesse Ventura say)........Adjustable drivers are a crutch for the weak

Hi, is anyone else besides me still gaming a non- adjustable, shaft glued in the hosel, properly weighted, solid feeling driver or has most everyone gone the adjustable route? I have been more satisfied with my Titleist 909 D-2 than the newer ones I have tried. To me the sound and feel of the 909 are above what is currently available, and I have tried the 910 and 913 as well. Any thoughts? Thanks

I have never used an adjustable driver. I don't feel comfortable with them and I feel like they're kind of a gimmick.

that's marketing talking. i think it's pretty safe to say that there hasn't been a single club (gimmick) invented that has statistically improved scores.
Karsten Solheim would like to take issue with that. The Anser putter looked pretty gimmicky when it debuted, and plenty of people putt better with it. Cavity backs must have looked pretty odd as well.

ok, i'll concede..."there's only been one club/gimmick" ;)

what i've always found interesting is that when ping first introduced the adjustable driver over a decade ago, everyone hated it. and they didn't hate the product, they hated the idea!!!
