Draw help!

I hit a natural draw, no matter what I try I can't get rid of it. I've decided I would be fine with keeping the draw but how do I make it so it always lands in my target area?

It may be your swing path, or the face angle at impact relative to your swing path. I find most of the overly technical explanations unhelpful in actually playing golf. A draw would be a predictable right to left flight. If your draw is wild, it might be a hook, and you should consider a lesson. As a natural draw player myself, I had to train my eyes and body to setup the shot right of the intended target and draw it into the pin. Works more often than not. Some practice on the range will help you develop some of the instinct in aiming.

As long as you hit a natural draw and not a unpredictable hook I would start paying attention to how much your ball draws with each club. Go to the range and pick two targets. One you want to aim to start the ball and the second where you want the ball to land. Once you can get consistent and know how much each club will draw you can take it to the course and start using targets in the distance like a tree or house in the background to start your ball on that line in relation to where you want the ball to land.

Fire at a target that is that much right of where you want it to land. 10yd draw, 20 yd wide green, aim at right edge.

I'd rather make small changes than big changes. To get the draw in the first place, your club face is closed in regard to the path...thus a draw. Instead of making a big change I'd do one of two things. Embrace what you have an simply aim a little more right and play the draw you have. However if you simply want it to draw a little less then you have to minimize the difference between the path and club face....a.k.a. just open the face a little and swing like normal.

Most people start out as slicers - did you EVER have one? Try to re-enact it if you did. (Over the top swing) then slowly less and less until you find the middle.

Anyway, to use a draw effectively (for a RH player) just aim right down the right side of the "danger zone" - the edge of the fairway that is adjacent to trees, lakes, rough etc. - and just turn it back in.

I often do these things when hitting a draw, because I know for sure I never miss right. But I also learned how to work the ball both ways. There are three main elements which I use to work the ball any given direction.

1. Grip - sometimes I'll change it to weaker for a fade
2. Swing plane - in to out (hook) out to in (slice) feather the amounts for draw and fade.
3. Follow through - follow through and wrap around for more hook while rolling over the right arm through impact - or - abbreviated follow through and finish pointing outwards for a fade.

For me, I hit it dead straight or a slight draw. When I wanna hit a cut, I just change my path a little. Think out to in. Chopping the ball to the inside. I also sometimes open the face a little and take my grip. I will come through the ball square but with an open club face.

Really hard to answer your question without knowing what type of draw you play. I draw the ball as well, but play a push draw similar to Rory. My approach would be much different that someone like Rocco who aims right and draws it off. Not all draws are created equal and it's pretty imperative to know which one you are.
