New Nike Method "Mod" putters?

GolfWRX

Recommended Posts

Awe Nike golf....how art thee disliked by so many for even far more a fickle reason. It is interesting that "Golfspy Dave" from another forum wrote a review on the "most wanted", blade putter". His assessment was accuracy and scoring...not beauty! I find it even more interesting that the winner was a Nike Method Core putter, plus it had another showing in 7th place. A first, a seventh (and a 14th selection) out of 28 putters and most if not all major OEMs were represented. I mean my goodness, the lauded Scotty couldn't crack the top 15. Hmmm, maybe there is something to the nike technology and that getting the ball in the hole or nearer the hole for those that don't drop upon first putt, warrants more consideration then the masses afford. For this Scotty user, Nike certainly has my attention and the Method line will get a a fair try out for my "in the bag honours". Good job Nike!

So aesthetics discussion aside, has anyone actually gotten to roll one of these yet? I know the groove technology is supposed to be excellent, also wondering if anyone has any feedback on how they feel too. The more I look at the pictures, the more I like them, specifically the 00 and 60. Of course, when I see them in hand it might be a different story, but they sure look good now.

I rolled putts for about a half hour with them a week ago. The Method technology works as advertised. I don't like the red on the putter but it's not noticable at address which is all that matters. I have one of the Oven first run Methods and I think new MOD's are softer. They have a much deeper milling on the face and the finish is much nicer. I'm suprised by some of the comments that the putter looks cheap. With the finish and deep milling the putters look like any high end putter line. Minus all the red! My 2 cents.

Yeah, I think a solid black PVD like the Cameron would have done them more justice.

Solid black PVD with white polymer grooves. These guys at Nike have to know these things. Nike if your reading this and you want some fresh perspectives let me know, i'm for hire :-)

Thanks shakes. I would think some other shapes must coming out eventually. Including nikes take on a grip counter balance type of deal.

TM has the highest market share in golf equipment (exclude golf balls). When you are No.1, people are going after you.

Nike? You are playing catch-up in putters. You are the underdog. People are rooting for underdogs. Method and Method Midnight are good putters. Now, this?!
TM gets it's fair share of hate around here. Sounds like people just want someone to contend with TM and Nike goes out of its way not to.

Yup. It should be so simple.

At their price point they are failing on both ends.

Priced just below Cameron? Great for an innovative tech, not great for something that feels cheap and is made in China.

Above the rest of the crowd? Sure tech is a nice story but joe blow is going to love the feel of a TM insert or that soft Odyssey with the neat "alignment aid".

Nike always does something cosmetically that immediately cheapens the product for me... Wtf Nike?!?

Coming soon to E-bay and a bargain bin near you. For chuffs sake Nike give up wasting resources on making putters. You will NEVER get close to Odyssey, Ping, Cameron and Bettinardi.
You're not Nike's target demographic for this line in the first place especially if you're in your fourties. Nike is concentrating on getting the loyalty of the 15-25 demographic that will be buying golf equipment for the next 40 or so years. Nike already accepted the reality that they can't change close minded people like your type so it's not a losing situation to them.

Sorry if I missed it, but when will these be available to the general public or for preorder? I don't really care what some on here have to say, I think the Mod 90 looks pretty dope

Avail Nov 1 (or at least the first week) is what I was told. Pre-order should be avail now.

I'd love to give the MOD 90 a roll

I'd like to definitely give that a roll. Having started golf with a Bullseye, it would be nice to try a modern version of it with tweeks to add some roll to the ball.

Nike Golf added some pics of the new Mod putters to their twitter account @nikegolf

They look better here than they did in the catalog pics I saw before, but still disappointing in my opinion. I just don't like the look of any of them. Here's the pics:

I love the shape and looks of the Mod 00 GoLo style putter, except they just ruined it with those sight lines. I would even get over the red on the sides cuz you don't see it at address but those lines kill it for me.
