Did Stenson use a Tee for anything other than Driver?

it was interesting to see that the winner of the Fedex cup and tour championship and hottest player on tour since the open, disagrees with the 18 perfect lies comment! Makes me feel better about the fact that I just push the tee all the way down on everything except driver. I might just eliminate it!

It all depends on the grass. Sometimes tee's are worthless.

I noticed him using tees on tee boxes, just really low.
Did he not pick them up or something? I didn't see him reach down to pick them up.
Not that I noticed, than again I don't pay much attention to a golfer bending over for a tee. :) I could be wrong though. I tee the ball really low and often don't bother reaching down after hitting.

You have 18 chances to have a perfect lie, might as well use a tee when you can.
sure but what about on a grass like zoysia where the tee just gets lost in the turf and the ball sits up better without it anyway?

on tight grasses like bent or rye that are mowed close I agree.

We have zoysia at our club, I never use a tee except for driver. I can make a perfect lie without a tee. There are some guys I know that did a little test with tees and without tees using the Flightscope and the ball actually flew slightly shorter off of a tee than without on iron shots. The ball contacts the face slightly higher up the face sometimes and the ball goes shorter. Both of these guys doing the testing were plus handicaps. There are a bunch of guys on tour that do not use tees on par 3's. I sat on a Par 3 at Murifield this year and saw a bunch of guys just set their ball down, no tee etc.

Snedeker does the same thing I think. And as far as the "18 perfect lies, that's why I tee up everything" comments, no where else on the course can you bump up the turf to optimize contact - so you're still taking advantage of the situation.

I tee everything man. No mater what I'm hitting. You only get 18 perfect lies a round. Might as well take advantage of them.
Niclaus said the exact same thing.

Sometimes i will hit off the grass if i am trying to keep the ball down. Don't do it often though.

Possibly, but the grass on the tee boxes where I play is spotty at best. I have played on tees that were just perfect, and I could have just dropped the ball, or placed it in a perfect lie, but I generally don't play on courses that good. If I did, I might change my mind.
