Royal Isabela Golf Club, Puerto Rico

Just wanted to share a great course I got to play while living in Puerto Rico for a few years. The course is private and very new so they are still doing stay and play packages to get members. There is an organic farm on the grounds that the chef picks from daily for everything on the menu from breakfast to dinner. The golf course has a rating of 78.6 and a slope of 151 from the Natural tees. Every hole on this course is stunning and a challenge from the island green to the 150' cliffs with waves crashing in front of you while you hit over the ocean. Check me out hitting a few shots on just a couple of the great holes! Play it while you still can!

This is now the hardest course in the U.S. with a rating of 80.3 and a slope of 155. Play it while you still can!

#12 is actually the only birdie I remember having in 36 holes! It's only 354 from the blues and the wind was with us that day, I hit it in the trees on the left 30 yards out, punched it onto the green and made a down hill sidewinder! When I played the greens were so fast if you missed in the wrong spot on a few holes you literally had to tap it from 30 feet, let it roll off the green and then putt up to the hole.

No problem, I suggest doing the stay and play package, as you basically get to golf for free. I lived in PR for four years and played 15 of the 21 courses (6 aren't worth playing) on the island and this course is definitely not easy to get on. I asked Puerto Rican after Puerto Rican about playing this course and none of them could get on. Then I got super lucky and met the owners nephew!

Wondering what the thoughts on tipping the caddies are...Needless to say every place and geographical region is different, what kind of tipping is decent at Royal Isabela??
