Golf near Montego Bay, Jamaica

Looking to play 1 or 2 rounds over the next week. I wondered if you would recommend Cinnamon Hill, Half Moon Bay, or something else. Unfortunately, White Witch golf course is closed. I am staying at Iberostar. Thanks for advise.

Haven't played either but I believe Half Moon gets high ratings as one of the top courses in the Caribbean. My family and I are debating between Half Moon and Casa de Campo for our trip in Dec. If you play there please let us know how it went.

I played Cinnamon Hill about 10+ years ago while on my honeymoon. It doesn't have the cache of the witch but its a great course. Built into an old sugar plantation, lots of old aqueducts are still on the course. Some holes on the ocean, and then you go back up into the jungle as you go up the hill. Highly recommended.

It's a shame White Witch is closed... Are they renovating it? I played it 7 years ago and it was an amazing course... I know some of the 18th hole (right along the ocean cliffs) was sinking away. I've played half moon it's an ok track a few memorable holes but it was more known when I was there because it was a David Leadbetter training center. The course has a "resort feel" to it... Very flat. Like I said it's been 7 years since I've played them and only played each once... I can remember at least 14 holes from white witch and I think I remember 3 holes from Half Moon.

I played in Feb 2004 and again in Feb 2013. The course was in great shape in 2013. It was relatively new in 2004 and in my opinion the course has matured very well since I first played. If you have not already been to Jamaica I highly recommend the course. The views are magnificent and the course was in great shape in 2013. I have also played Cinnamon Hills and Half Moon which are all in the same general area. Half Moon is the easiest walk and the course itself is very beautiful. White Witch & Cinnamon Hills have the best views of the Caribbean but I thought the golf was better at Half Moon and I enjoy walking. I did not attempt to walk the other 2.
Tryall Club west of MoBay is also easy to walk and is a nice course.

We had a blast playing White Witch....what a fun track. Conditions were good (8/10) and the caddies were quite helpful but not always right.

Cinnamon Hill - good layout, several holes along the ocean but not many where it comes into play, condition was good not great, greens were freshly cut and rolled, they were hard and fast...played much better then they looked. 2 different 9 nines, the front mostly flat along the ocean, the back was a mountain 9. nice place. Caddie was pretty much spot on with lines and greens, yardages were solid as well.

 

White Witch - all mountain course, similar conditions to CH, greens a bit softer with little better grass. all in all I felt was better course. Caddies here were ok with yardages but greens they were not great, if anything I would say they were weak.

 

Tryall - IMO was the best of the 3. Conditions there were across the board better. Greens are small but roll very well. Caddie was iffy with yardages but he was very good about the amounts to add or deduct for wind and elevation...the man really needs to invest in a range finder and he would have been spot on. once I learned to find the sprinkler head myself he was all good advise on what to add or drop. this was the best course of the 3 for my money.
