What are the best Mizuno irons ever?

From the ones I've owned:

1. MP-4 - I've hit my best, sweetest shots with them.

2. MP-54 - Played my best round with them, if I went looking for a CB, I'd try to buy them back.

3. MP-57 - Owned them the longest

4. MP-62 - Nice head but they had the wrong shaft for me

5. MP-32 - Got a set in bad condition last summer and did like them but I would need more rounds with them..

6- MP-67 - Got off on the wrong foot with them and never recovered, sold them for a profit though. :)

The MP 14's made putting a bag together so easy with the traditional lofts. The 50 degree pw meant I could either carry a specialty wedge like a 64 degree or have multiple longer club options like a 22 degree 7 wood which I just loved at the time and was so much easier and more consistent for me than trying to hit the three iron. Plus even with the forged blades and the weaker lofts, I didn't feel like I was losing out on distance. These clubs were also shockingly forgiving on thin contact as well.

The good old days of the 50 degree pitching wedges and 3-pw iron sets. Now you get numerous wedges to fill out a set and they only go to a 5 iron that's actually a disguised 3 iron/ hybrid. If you tell players now a days that pitching wedges used to be 50* they laugh like your nuts ?

No thread jack here, but always find it interesting in any "best____ever" thread that there never seems to be any continuity amongst the replies. I've never hit a mizzy iron, but probably would consider ditching my J15MB's if one iron set stood out in the mizuno line.

The 900F give me the best combination of great feel, and forgiveness, but may break out the MP5's on any given Sunday.

I think the majority around here either says 33 or 32. I have both and game the 33's. I love the look of the 33's, but I always finding myself throwing a 32 in the bag to see what they look like sitting there in all their badass glory. There is something special about the 32's. Can't go wrong with either.

I was going through a transition in my game, and quickly became a better ball striker, so kept going up the ladder until the 900T knocked me down a peg.

I still have the H4's, had them redone for my son, still have a 54/64 combo set, full set of 5's, and the 900F in the bag..

Only dumped the H5 and 15 due to not really liking them as much, and 900T seemed a touch demanding, lost a half club.

In 90 days, went from playing g25's with CFS stiff shafts, to MP 54/64 combo with C-taper 130X

My rankings according to what I've Played:

1) MP-14

2) MP-33

3) MP-68

4) TP-9

5) TN-87

29 years later and I still have no idea what "butta" feels like ;)

And no, the copper film sprayed on the 87's had absolutely nothing to do with "feel," as it's layer was so microscopic that it couldn't even be measured, lol. It was added to improve the adherence properties of the chrome to the steel.

I asked the engineer who worked on the 87's why Mizzy never corrected the wives' tale and he smiled and chirped, "why on earth would we do that?"

That was a pretty stupid question?

Stay well My Butta Boys?

All the Best,

RP

In the end, only three things matter~

How much that you loved...

How mightily that you lived...

How gracefully that you accepted both victory & defeat...

GHIN: Beefeater 24

Mp 55

This.. having played MP14/MP29/MP33/MP64/MP5's I think the MP55's are the ultimate Mizuno irons.

Long and forgiving in the long irons due to undercut cavity and players cavity in the short irons. Perfect factory combo set.
