2014 Taylormade TP CB, MC & MB Pics (American release photos and spec sheets)

I was thinking blades were a dying breed for big OEMS. TaylorMade was the last company I'd expect to bring back such a clean design. I was ready to praise them. This was when the shaded area was masked. It's amazing how the tour preferred stamping instantly makes this look so cheap and tacky looking. If you're not going to use the badge, just leave the "Tour Preferred" out of it completely. At the very least, reduce to it to a compact "TP."

Personally i thought the TP logo was to much, and they would have looked cleaner without it. When they said it would not be there i thought "cool". But after seeing that it was replaced by the "tour preferred", it definitely looks better with the logo.

Even though i know that i am not buying these, i do agree with the majority of people to keep the logo.

I hope Will Peoples can get me a tour set with the logos!
So, do we know that the Tour players will have sets with the logo? What we saw was a proto head and not necessarily the finished product for both tour and retail,...correct?
Seems really dumb idea by TM if they do that.

TMaG is heading into dangerous Cleveland Golf territory, whereby a really nice club/iron is ruined because of one small quirky thing that becomes a big thing.

They must be over staffed on the marketing side, always changing things for the detriment to the brand but gives them an excuse for all this goofy crap.

Dang Taylormade, you almost nailed it. I would much prefer the badge to all the excess text on the clubs but that's just me. If we can't get the badge at least delete Tour Preferred from the muscle/cavity.

There will be no flag on the final version of clubs, instead it has Tour Preferred, unless something changes otherwise.

Look much better with TP logo vs "Tour Preferred"

My 2 cents...
Agreed. TP is recognizable. People know it. It was when TM clubs were really "cool." They kinda lost me when TP just became a shaft upgrade on the same head and became "tour preferred."
Always thought they could have done very well keeping their top ball under the "Tour Preferred" umbrella instead of changing up that marketing every other year with the Pentas and the Lethal. TM marketing is their own worst enemy sometimes. PV1/Titleist retain their names/product lineups year to year. Stop re-inventing the wheel at TM every year. It will help sales, branding, and loyalty. When people are pretty well all agreeing that the classic TP symbol is much preferred, who is sitting in their focus groups telling them otherwise?? I want to meet these people?!
I said the same thing in another thread. How can just about everyone here, to a man, agree that the irons look better with the TP badge than with the Tour Preferred text, but somewhere along the line somebody in TaylorMade's think tank thought the opposite to be true? I wondered if it were because of the rumored trademark battles with Chevy/ Corvette, but CP suggested that TaylorMade has indicated in the past that they worry that the TP logo might scare people away thinking their ability does not equal that of the club. Which only begs questions, such as- if this is true, how does the logo scare anyone away more so than the text? And, if these people are worried that their ability may not rival the skill required by the club, is TaylorMade more worried about selling ANY equipment to a consumer as opposed to selling the RIGHT equipment to a consumer?

You wrote your reply the same time as mine. I agree 100%. Either keep the badge or nothing at all. I personally i think it would look very clean with or without the the logo.

Thats JMHO. Although, regardless TM did a great job (from at least the pics) of designing a nice clean looking lineup.

I would have liked to see Tour Preferred on the hosel and MB on the back near the toe kind of similar to the Titleist MB's.

I still remember when I saw these and not wanting to put this one down and one of the Global Product guys came up to me and asked how I liked the line and I said, its really good, a nice improvement over the last Tour Preferred line. He was glad to hear that too.

I can't understand why they would choose the text over the badge, perplexing to me really. I understand it's just a detail item but the devil IS in the details. Maybe TaylorMade isn't active on this board and hasn't taken the temperature of the consumer(s).

I have been a long time TM hater. Never owned a TM club. Can't stand the gimmicky white heads, stupid names, face paint, bucket hats and all that. This last season 11 clubs in my bag were Callaway (3 Scratch wedges and 2 Adams hybrids) and I played the Hex Tour Black. I have played the 2009 X Forged irons for 3 years. Best iron I ever played. With that all being said, those MC's look amazing writing or badge. Assuming they come lefty, if the price point is right and the stock shafts are decent, those could end up in my bag easily next year. Thinking Adams 3-4 hybrid 5 CB and 6-pw in MC. That would fit nice. Especially since I already rock the Adidas Classic Green Samba bag. With the new Adams stuff, I could easily be Adams top of the bag and TM lower part. The last month I have even been swapping my YES putter back into the bag. I could easily be all Adams/TM next year without much effort. Can't wait to see the price point and shafts in these.

Agree with the consensus. Much prefer the badge, but would prefer nothing to the "tour preferred" written out. That said, I just love the look of the MB so I will absolutely be trying it, and, since I am looking to get a new set of blades, I'd say there's a pretty good chance of me getting it. Again, though, wish it had the badge.

To those that have yet to hit a golf ball with these that are complaining about the badge, no badge, writing, or whatever...if they were the best irons you hit would it still be a deal breaker if the badge wasnt on there?
I think that just making the statement proves that you don't "get it", and no amount of convincing or explaining will help you "get it". I don't mean that as an insult. The badge makes no difference whatsoever performance-wise, and that is not the point.
Actually i do get it...however I am speaking from someone who purely goes off feel and performance. I love the TP logo and what it represents. The problem is a golf manufacture will go after what the majority wants. As much as I love golfwrx this isn't the majority. You would be amazed at how they came to the conclusion they did when it comes to the finished product, or maybe not.
