The "Driver B" is insane. I just hit it and once it is released in February, it will be going straight into my bag. This will be the #1 selling driver on the market this year for better plays. I am willing to bet my left family jewel on it.
Don't leave us hanging like that man......
Love it...NO TP BADGE...change the avatar!! lol!!
Even if there was a TP badge it would not matter if Cally brings back the Bertha line!!! Times are changing:)

so wait. there's going to be the optiforce 440/460, x2 hot pro, x2 hot, a now big bertha in 2 versions. Jeez, theyre putting out a lot of product. but if its as good as ZJohnson is saying, ill definitely give it a whirl.
And people were complaing about the number of club TM does, lets see that means Callaway is opening the year with eight different drivers?
Let us not forget that they were number 1 in irons sets sales until they came out with 8 sets of irons of which I think 6 sets with a name that included "Razor" in it.
By the way if these new BBs don't come out for sale until February the way things are going they will be old Tech. Because TM will have a new generation making a debut, afterall that is three months away :busted_cop:

Kind of why Im surprised Cally reps are showing these to their accounts already... I have not seen them, so I can't even totally confirm anything. Our little mom and pop shop doesn;t even have our APEX demos in yet. Sadly, it's just going to keep things closer to the vest longer going forward for OEM's... I, for one, can not wait for these all the new gear to come out. Never was a Callaway fan until 2012 (new Callaway), but I am one for life now. Awesome, awesome stuff, not discluding the wonderful folks in charge over there now. Yes, I was a lucky WRXer who was able to see this stuff first-hand on the 12/12/12 trip, so my alligence runs deep with the Chevron, but it's like anything in life.. People make the difference. Hopefully all you guys have had a chance to read J13's write-ups, See the fun stuff ROBO was able to do with Callaway at last year's SHOW, Zak's in hand pics and write-ups, etc., etc. 2013-14 is going to be ANOTHER fun year for golf gear heads, regardless of yours or mine "favorite" OEM's.

rant over.

If you take the time to read the patent info, and follow the drawings, it's pretty simple to envision what's going on with the design. The only thing we don't (all) have is a final, retail visual -which I understand is the most important part lol.

With that said, I'm stoked to see the internal mechanism that houses the "slider tee" for various CG placement (which is the bread and butter of this design, obviously).

Fade/Draw bias weighting seems to be changeable (internally) via various weights themselves held in static positions located in the rear end of the club head, and not a sliding track as previously seen in the infamous "prototype" photo. However, I could be wrong since there are two drivers (A and B) waiting to be released.

2014 should be a great year for us! Bring it Callaway!!!??

Seen it, it's definitely a nice driver but doesn't give me the "GOTTA HAVE" it that other drivers have in the past. Me I wish they'd make an adjustable version & glued hosel version. IMO a glued hosel feels much more solid than an adjustable in July opinion, had a Razr Fit with glued hosel that felt MUCH better than the regular Razr Fit. I'll be sticking with the Razr Hawk Tour Prototype & Optiforce unless this things going to a** another 10 yards & ball speed. Took me a while do dial in my gamers that are now perfect. Drivers are usually the only clubs that get switched around. Instead of getting wrapped around the "HYPE" I'm finally going to keep what I'm hitting long, straight, feels good & hits fairways.

No doubt it looks like it's going to be a great driver & there's no doubt I'll tamest it once I get mine. But doesn't every WRX member say the same about the newest, latest, & greatest driver to come out how great it's going to be! My favorite Callawy drive is about 6/7 years removed (FT 5 TH HCG, that I still have) & love my FT Optiforce which I hit perfect. If Callaway could find me 1/2 Razr Hawk Tour Prototype HCG drivers so I'd have a few backups I'd be happie than a pig moon walking.

Razr Hawk Tour is a great driver and one of the best Cally big dogs to be made. I was talking to Gary (Woodland) about his out in Vegas and he wants to get into a new driver but it has to beat out his RHT first lol. For the right person the RHT is a beast.

Phil slipped up with saying something about adjustable CG (raise and lower) on his Morning drive interview....

3:10secs onwards http://www.golfchann...ing-technology/

That certainly ends the debate on the other thread about Phil going to Taylormade.

Very true J13! It sure is fun to speculate though, right! Numerous other patents were named (which I didn't read), but this sure is an interesting design.

I just thought it was interesting since Phil mentioned CG adjustability on Morning Drive, and then this (latest) patent showed that very same feature.

Should be an interesting next few months though, and I certainly can't wait to see what Harry and the boys have up their sleeves!

The OptiForce line just came out and now it's on it's way out? I thought the constant changing of the name of the lines was one thing that turned people off to Callaway (Big Bertha Diablo to Diablo Edge to Diablo Octane to RAZR...). I just think it's hard for them to reestablish an identity if they are constantly changing it. And not even every year, but a couple times a year now. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Big Bertha fan too, but they should have done this several lines ago.

I also believe that the way Michelson tinkers with other oem clubs is so that Phil himself can give the club designers input at callaway for their next ventures.

Rather than playing another oem's offering as a slap to callaway i do think it's for research and informational purposes only

Can't wait to see this driver.

Can't wait to see this driver.
I'm sure callaway's r&d had the sldr as soon as it came out. They can do just as much research and info gathering as Phil, as well as him testing it at their facilities. Phil didn't play a Callaway driver in competition because the one he wants wasnt ready yet.

I firmly believe he plays clubs from different manufacturers strictly because he thinks it gives him the best chance to win at that time, no hidden agendas.

Phil slipped up with saying something about adjustable CG (raise and lower) on his Morning drive interview....

great interview, just goes to show that you can't design clubs on the Iron Byron for human use.

so wait. there's going to be the optiforce 440/460, x2 hot pro, x2 hot, a now big bertha in 2 versions. Jeez, theyre putting out a lot of product. but if its as good as ZJohnson is saying, ill definitely give it a whirl.
No more OptiForce
LOL!! No kidding.
Yes which is why they have a new CEO, new outlook, new mission, ect... The industry though is changing and if you want to keep up then 1 driver every 2 years is not going to do it. It's the same with cell phones. Time are a changing and I for one like it.
I'm not saying don't keep advancing your technology. I'm saying build an identity and stick with it. The only reason to change that identity is because it's flawed and won't sell. Changing names all the time is like saying we screwed up on that, time for a change. You don't see Apple going from the iPhone to the Quasar or some other made up name.
I can certainly see where you are coming from. Phil is doing a fabulous Marketing job for Callaway, that's part of his job obviously. It's a little contradictory, possibly, that he wins a tournament early in the season with the RFE, and is on TV extolling its virtues as the best thing since sliced bread, professing its the Driver he's been looking for, then uses a TM SLDR later in the season, that's somewhat odd, but hey, as I said, Phil is there as much for his ability to communicate with the man on the street as he is for his Golf. And no-one can deny he is doing a great Marketing job for Cally as I said.

Personally I think its a great thing that they bring out new equipment every few months. Because I know that I can get one in 4-6 months for less than half of the original retail price at release!! That's great news for the financially savvy Golfer.

The only slight issue is, If the Club Pro or retailer starts to see this happening, whereby he sees that people are hanging on for the price drops in 4-6 months, then he knows he's gonna have a fair bit of dead stock in the racks for months not selling. The retailer is going to be less likely to pre-order quite as much Cally stock next time around. That's the only problem I can see. But in the short term, it's definitely good for the Golfer who can wait a few months for the inevitable price drops.

Steal my leading edge to trailing edge move-able sole weight idea. Slap two weight ports on the heel and toe for draw/fade bias. Include the adjustable hosel. Call it the Big Bertha.

Harry, I'd like to collect a small royalty in perpetuity upon Bertha's release. Either that, or a contract with Callaway to wack golf balls indefinitely.

Optiforce will still be in the line in 2014. You will see when we formally announce these where it all fits together since we will be talking about performance segmentation in the driver category. And when we explain that, it will be obvious where they all fit in.
Boy do I feel dumb. Maybe I should have taken my eyes off of the new driver...

Build it, sell it, do it again. You need to keep up with your competition. If you're not doing that, you're behind. Welcome to capitalism and the different way of doing things in golf.
