Well, I was able to talk to a support person and the site was actually working at the time. He helped me get my login problem resolved and I downloaded and was able to sync up 50 courses. He also sent the instructions for saving more than 50 courses by storing them on my computer's hard drive.

As of now the site is working.

Feel like posting up the instructions? I know a few posted up some previously, just curious if there might be a different way.

I don't think there were any changes from before, but here are the instructions Callaway sent me:

With your uPro GPS you can copy the courses off the device and store them on the
computer. Follow the steps below:

1. Ensure the uPro is powered on and says ?Play Golf?
2. Plug the uPro directly into the computer (a USB port on the back of your
computer is best; choose Connect to PC if this is an option)
3. If you do not see an Auto Play window appear after approximately one minute,
open My Computer. If you do see an autoplay window, select Open Folder to View
Files, then go to step 6.
4. You should see the uPro listed as a ?Device with Removable Storage?
5. Double click the uPro icon.
6. Double Click on the Course_Data Folder.
7. Hold CTRL on your keyboard, and tap the letter A (all items will highlight).
8. Hold CTRL on your keyboard and tap the C button (This will copy it).
9. Right click the desktop on the computer and select new then folder.
10. Name the folder uPRo Courses.
11. Open uPro Courses and hold CTRL, and tap the letter V; this will paste the
files into the uPro Courses folder.

To add courses from the computer onto the device:
1. Do steps 1-6 the same.
2. Open the uPro Courses on your desktop.
3. Find the course that you want on your device and click once on it (this will
highlight it).
4. Hold CTRL on your keyboard and tap the C button (This will copy it).
5. Go back to the uPro drive in the Course_Data file.
6. Hold CTRL on the keyboard and tap the letter V; this will paste the file into
the uPro Courses folder.

*Some rules about copying the files to the computer:
1. The number that is the name for each file in the Course_Data folder is the
numerical identification number on the website. If you take that number and put
it in the
course search bar on the website it will tell you the name of the course.
2. You can change the name of each file in the Course_Data folder by right
clicking on each file and selecting rename. This will allow you to keep better
track of each course. Once the name has been changed, if you put in on the
device, the next time you sync the device to the website it will take that
course off your device. So you will need to put it back on when you are done.
Once the website has been shut down you will not need to worry about this
problem.

A friendly reminder to those that have these- download those courses while you still can.

I am not happy! Right now the site is down. I have no idea if the site will come up... ever, before the termination date of Jan. 1, 2015. When I hit the site it says: cg-logo.png

Callaway uxplore is temporarily down. Please check back soon.

I called uPro support (have had a uPro for almost 3 years) two days ago, Monday Dec. 22, 2014, and asked about some issues and the guy said the MX has 25,000 Basic Mode courses preloaded. So, I go and order an MX+ NIB at Amazon, about $68, this just two days ago, Dec. 21, 2014. Realizing that the uexplore website is going to be terminated as of Jan. 1, 2015, I signed up for the Amazon Prime 30 day trial to get fast free shipping and it's supposed to come today (Dec. 24, 2014). Fine, I figure, I'll have a week to install the latest software (3.1.005), which has shot tracking, have time to download Pro Mode courses for it, have time to update the 25,000 Basic Mode courses. Turns out that might be wishful thinking, bummer.

I call yesterday and ask a bunch of questions of a support tech. I call this morning for more info (it's 12/24/14) and an automated voice says they're on holiday, call back on a business day. I suppose that might be Dec. 26, Friday, maybe they'll be closed then too and also the weekend, next access to be Monday 12/29/14. All this wouldn't be so bad if I could access the website, but it's down, was down yesterday when I tried, and for all I know it will never be accessible again. If it is accessible, what's the chance that it will be up enough for me to download a reasonable number of courses before New Years? Bah! I just called Amazon and explained my frustration, and the guy said I have a month to return the item. I'll see if I can get updates, if not, I'll likely return it. Just having Basic Mode for 25,000 courses may not cut it. These won't even be updated unless I can update at uexplore site, and of course, there will be no updates going forward. I may wind up returning the MX+ and just use my uPro for a while and get some other company's GPS later, maybe a Garmin.

I think that Callaway could have succeeded with the uPro line but they didn't hire the right person/people to manage it and just decided to pull the plug. It looks like the last week might be a nightmare, at least for people trying to get support or access the website.

FYI: If you have a uPro and have stashed Pro Mode courses (probably Basic too) on your hard drive, after you will no longer be syncing, you can change the name of the course from the ~20 digit integer to anything you want, e.g. Augusta National. The uPro will work as usual, using the course name embedded in the XML file for that course. I got this tip from a support tech around 6 months ago.

Well, AFAIK, uPro support is gone, completely. Although Callaway's online info last time I checked indicated they will still honor the warranty, I don't think they will. I talked to a support person who told me that they hadn't sold any MX+ uPros for 2 years to retailers. However, I bought one through Amazon on Dec. 22, 2014 in order to have the preloaded 25,000 basic mode courses. I managed to update the software and download 50 courses, but the thing stopped working altogether a few days later. Wouldn't turn on.

I already had a uPro G1 for a few years, and as has been noted in this thread, you could download and stash course information on your hard drives to restore later. The uPro has no 50 course limit unless you are synching and synching is no longer possible, so you can put as many courses on your microSD card as will fit, you can also name the folders anything you want. The uPro G1 gets its course name from the XML file in the course folder. I have gotten a 2GB microSD card to work in my uPro G1

Now, Pro Mode courses are around 20MB of data, but Basic Mode courses are around 250kb. If someone wants a course they don't have, I think they should post here in the forum and ask for it, maybe someone has it. The Basic Mode course might work on someone else's uPro G1, but the Pro Mode course will not, because Callaway embedded your device's serial number in the downloaded file. I'm thinking that the same security ruse they used on Pro Mode courses was probably not used on Basic Mode course downloads because they were always free. So, if you want/need a Basic Mode course, I say ask for it and maybe someone has it and will send you the course. It can either by the folder with the XML file inside of it or they could just send the XML file and you could put it in a folder with the course name and plop that in the \course_data folder.

New to this forum so if this breaks the rules please delete.
I have a Callawy Upro and would like a couple of courses for an upcoming trip to California. I am going to Palm Dessert and wanted to know if anyone has Dessert Willow the Fire Cliff and the Mountain View basic gps XML files.
I have some courses from Florida Orlando area and Southern Ontario if you would like to trade. Let me know if this is possible.

You could call the course to verify, but I'm sure you will find that on those courses the golfcarts have mounted GPS that gives yardages right to the flag and to bunkers etc. so that trumps the upro anyway for accuracy.

Has anyone had any luck getting Callaway to replace a dead uPro with a new/used/reconditioned unit? I really liked mine and now it won't turn on. Battery is file but charging lights (red or blue) won't light up. Won't power on either. Charging cord works fine on another device.

Try giving customer service a call and see if they can help.

I seem to recall that they said they would still honour warranty claims, but I would doubt that yours is still in warranty now ? If it is, you could try a claim through your local store where you got it or call Callaway main service directly.

My uPro+ died a couple of months ago. Similar illness to yours I expect.

I was using my rangefinder mostly anyway since I got one but decided to get a Garmin watch (S4) on a price deal after my Upro+ died. I am enjoying the convenience of the watch much more than my Upro+ (and I never liked that model or software as much as my original Upro). Still rely mostly on my rangefinder for 150 and in though.

Hello friends,

I have a upro which I have always been pleased with. It was inevitable that it would fail eventually, so i purchased a couple of new ones off e-bay before callaway shut down their site. I loaded my most used courses to my PC as per instructions and there they have sat very contented until now.

I am trying to load them onto one of the new upro devices but I am getting the 'error course data' message every time I try to load up a course. It seems to me that the courses have got some sort of DNA from the original upro imbedded in the course file, or some other tie up which i cannot identify.

Does anybody have any thoughts on it? I am fairly IT literate so could give some coding or cracking a go if needbe.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions....even 'buy a rangefinder' types :-)
