If you really want to play, check around for a twilight rate. Anything on the ocean is not going to be budget. Cabo Del Sol Desert course might be cheaper, but that's a relative term. Not a bad track and you can still see the ocean from way up high.

Most of the courses, are pretty nice, pretty well maintained, but they just gouge the tourists. I've played most (not Diamante) and they are mainly just desert courses with ocean backdrops. The few "right on the ocean" holes allow them to charge the gouge rates. I'd rather play a desert Crenshaw design with no views over any of the courses, though.

I booked Cabo Real through ezlinks and got a great rate. That's a fun course and even though there are only 2 holes where you are right on the ocean, you can see the ocean the whole round. I really liked the course. After the round they came up to us and tried to sell us packages of 2 or 3 more rounds for cheap, so if you're interested in multiple rounds you could check that out.

Everything is Cabo is relatively inexpensive EXCEPT the golf.

Leave the sticks at home.

Really bad advice.

Having been to Cabo before and going again early 2014, anyone who loves golf should take the clubs.

There is a reason the golf is expensive. First, Cabo is a desert resort. Do you have any idea what it takes to keep these courses green and immaculate. From what one groundskeeper there told me, 1 million gallons of water a day for a course. Secondly, the costs of building these courses was huge. They are amazing designs, through land that was desert and uninspiring. Lastly, when you play the top tier courses at Cabo, they will space you. You will not have someone in front holding you up, you will not be pushed on the back. You can proceed at a pace you feel comfortable with, plus time for pictures and enjoying the nature.

The customer service is amazing. You get free water, some of the courses give you more . Unlimited range balls, friendly help wherever it is needed. We could learn a lot about customer service from the Mexcian people.,

You get what you pay for. You will pay dearly for some of the Cabo courses, but you will never forget them. So if it is in the budget, bring the clubs.

Sorry - but my advice stands based upon "budget".

Though the term "budget" is rather subjective, my interpretation of the OP's post with respect to "budget" meant inexpensive. You answered it relative to the "experience", with budget as an aside.

Maybe I was too bold with my advice, but in my experience, specials are very hard to come by, especially at the golf courses that are worthy of playing.

I have played Cabo del Sol, Pamilla and El Dorado. They are beautiful. They are NOT "budget" oriented.

Now when I travel to Cabo, I leave the clubs at home.

To each is own.

I played Cabo Real and it cost me ~$200 including rentals and cab fare from my hotel. It was worth it for me as I played a desert course and an ocean side course for the first time. I did not check golfnow at the time as I was not aware that they had deals for Cabo. If I go again, I would try to find cheap tee times thru online deals.

I appreciate the advice! I am glad to hear they have prices under $200. Any idea on how long the Diamonte time share presentation is? Would it be worth it?

Registration, breakfast, clubhouse tour, display home tour, gym tour and then finally the sales office... About 2 and half hours all up. The tour itself is ok, it's just the sales office that is a pain and you can shave 45 mins here by just saying "no" straight up and not budging. I paid $150 + rentals. Happy to do it once, probably wouldn't do it again.

Loved Pamilla course (name?).
Played Cabo del Sol and it was fine.

When he played Pamilla, Jack was with a friend who lost 14 balls in like 12 holes.
Yeah.
The guy Had to stop when between us, there was just one ball. It would have been an awesome course but JP brought his own round wrecking crew...both were resort prices.

Guys dressed in white cotton jumpsuits lurking everywhere trimming the course with their silent machettes. That's Cabo.....
