New year, new stand bag and a few new covers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Driver - sticking with the 816 DBD for now, set up +1/N with the Speeder Pro 66TS. I do want to hit the Trackman and have a dual with the Epic(s)

 

3W - sticking with the X2 Hot Pro. Why kick it out when it is so reliable?

 

Hybrids - might look to switch my 4H with a 2H, but I don't see a need at the moment

 

Irons - I pulled the Nippon 1150GHs last year. Found them heavy and actually lost distance. So went total opposite and put Steelfibers in. I like them. Nice flight, swingweights are dialed in and yardages are comfortable.

 

Wedges - Sticking with my Scratch 47*. Versatile and holding up well. May need to find a replacement head for when the time comes... I did order the LE Vokey 54 and 58 wedges. They looked too good to pass up. First Vokeys that I will have in play in at least 10 years.

 

Putter - the Byron 612 is a rock. It makes clutch putts, just gets the job done. I plan to get the Kingston in the mix as green speeds quicken and see how it performs. And I have an old worn Cameron NPII that may see some action, but that is TBD.

 

Ball - whatever is in my locker. Still have a bunch of B330-S from a couple years ago, Velocity and NXTs from X-Mas. A ball is a ball, I don't get hung up on that too much.

Only 3 years since the last update!

 

Been working on an iron build, figured it would be a decent time to update my WITB.

 

Callaway BB Alpha 9* - Yellow HZRDS 6.0 65g

Driver combo is the most reliable I've found.  Epic, Epic Flash and Maverick went all over the map with a number of shafts that I tried.  Interested in the new head Callaway has coming in '21.  I would like to get a green HZRDUS and see how that fits.

 

3 wood - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  It's reliable.  Taking the Stenson road with this one...

 

5 wood - new for last year.  Was a gift from my son for Father's Day.

 

3i - punch out club for the most part.  Works as a lay up club for par 5s at my course.

 

4-10i - this is the new build.  I was fitted for the Accra shafts over the summer.  I like the Honma product, so why not get a set off eBay fairly cheap and build?  BB&F ferrules are dope.

 

Wedges I will need to re-gap once I get an idea on how the irons perform and if there is change required.  I just love how these things have worn/aged.  Hate to move them to the shelf, but this may be the year they get replaced.

 

Putter is the last custom order I had made a few years back when it was still a thing.  I have plenty of other putters if this thing stops working!

 

PURE grips on everything except the putter (black Studio Design SC grip)

It was time for a new bag. Had my pro order a Jones stand bag.  Carried it Saturday for 18 and it was great. Think I used just the right shoulder strap as much as both.  Very comfortable, plenty of storage and no club tangle.

 

I keep going back to this putter. I go and try one of the others laying around but end up with this one every time.

 

Also grabbed a PXG 3W on here. Hit it a couple times, seems ok.

Thanks.  I ordered way back when custom orders were still a thing.  I asked Scotty to put a Hollywood neck and similar offset onto a NP2 Select head.  I like that NP2/Anser 2 design the best.  Just looks right to my eye.  The Studio Design grip on it is slick, I should replace it in the offseason.

Finally built these irons. sub70 639CBs with AMT white shafts. Played them today but had no swing. Maybe tomorrow I’ll figure out how they play.

The raw version looks nice. How are you liking them? I was thinking of building a set for travel/backup. I already have a set of shafts for them. I would probably bend them weak for preferred lofts and offset reduction.

They play nice enough, offset is a little more than I prefer.  Think I will put the Honmas back in my main bag and use the Sub70s as backups.

 

But who knows, I haven't played since September and probably won't touch my clubs until April.  I will likely build a set over the winter for something to do one weekend.
