Jacksonville Private Clubs

I am possibly moving to the Jacksonville area. I went to high school there but haven't lived there in 20 years. My brother is a member at Timuquana and I really do like the course and facility but there isn't much of a game. I am basically looking for a place that has a lot of good players who don't mind playing for a little something...and must have good, fast greens. I wonder if anyone knows about San Jose, Deercreek, Deerwood, etc. I don't want to put more than about 10k down to get in. And who knows, there may not be any options left. Haha. Any insight to any of these places would be greatly appreciated.

Best greens in town are st johns golf and country. Three little members game a week. Normally 20plus players in each game. Two issues it is a semi private and 8 min tee times. Will be in your price range with ease.

I play deercreek about once a week. Its a great course and always in great condition. You cant really go wrong on your other options on your list either, however, I think that deercreek is the least expensive out of the ones you have listed

Look into Palencia Club. Really nice Arthur Hills course BEST practice facility in NE FL by a LONG shot. Challenging course. What I like best is there are hardly any houses on it and I believe they have some sort of code the retains a wood buffer on lots that directly border the golf course. They'll set you up with a preview round if you contact their membership people. They were doing all kinds of promotions in the past to attract new members. It is located off US 1 about 20 minutes south from the Avenues Mall.

If you want more in Jax, Jacksonville Golf and County Club has a great men's golf program (which sounds like what you're after), and San Jose Country Club is really nice, but might be harder to crack into, but a classic Donald Ross like Timucuana CC, also with a solid membership.

At the beach there is a private course under construction (believe it or not) called Atlantic Beach Country Club, that is supposed to be ready by the end of the year, and they construction deals on the initiation fee. Also a little above your price range (but they may work with you) is Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. Amazing facility, 36 holes, and the Ocean Course is my favorite course design/routing in Jax (Including Stadium and Pablo Creek, IMO, not trying to be controversial... and YES I've played Pablo about 10 times)

Every course I've mentioned is always in pristine condition, and are all private, not sure you'd want to join SJGCC which is a GREAT course, but is often packed with non-members. Deercreek has a rollercoaster of a track record with conditioning and membership and private vs. semi-private, so even if it's great now, who knows down the road!

All of these for the most part have a great tennis program and a decent of better pool, if that matters to you.

Hey Donnie anytime you want to take me out to Pablo I am in LOL. SJGCC I can tell you is stupid packed everyday. It is hard to get a tee time there as one of there "members". I hope it gets hot fast so everybody leaves and I can go back to actually playing golf there.
