Was that flightscope screenshot from the Xi or X2 model?
good question, because I heard that the Xi model shows no spin rates. So I'm very curious too!

I would like to know this as well. Detail on the website and the tread below implied that the Xi would not provide spin or launch data.

If you look at the 4th pic down, it looks like it says Xi+. Could Flightscope be releasing an upgraded version as well that provides more data than the base Xi?

Is there any info on the Ernest Sports ES14?

Can't believe the costs of this software, i'd love to see if it was feasible to write the dam stuff yourself!
The cost is in the hardware, at least all the pricing listed here are hardware costs. You get the software from FS free with the units from the way I understand.

I am skeptical about that, mainly as i've worked in IT for a lot of years :)

At 5k though thats one hell of a freaking gadget for a home net setup, its almost the same price as a souped up iMac!

I'm not quite sure what working for IT has to do with it. Doppler Radar is a technology that has been available for years in the Trackman and FS X2 at $10,000-20,000. Same technology in the Xi units, just less features for $2,500 or $5,000. Pricing and options are moving in the right direction. If you've been in IT for a long time, you'll remember when workstations cost tens of thousands of dollars and filled up half of a room (forget about a mainframe), and now we can get laptops for sub $300. They still don't have accurate launch monitors in that cheap laptop range, but it is moving that way.

Not much chatter on the Foresight Sports GC2 stuff... is the GC2-T (Tee Marker) not a lower budget launch monitor?
http://www.foresight...gc2t-tee-marker
I believe it will cost the exact same as the regular GC2 and is targeted to commercial/institutional installations. It has the same features but in a more rugged case.

I'm having a hard time understanding haha. What exactly does the xi show if it doesn't report spin, launch, etc? Does it just how ball flight and carry distances?

The point I was making was that inside the magic box is probably nothing different, maybe an extra micro component (certainly i'd say not 2500 worth). My opinion is its just the software thats the thing being capitalised on, and quite rightly as its a feature people will buy.

I don't want to get in a pissing match here...

I wasn't trying to either.
The cost is all in R&D of the hardware and firmware, software in these cases is the easy part. The software is just a pretty presentation of some numbers that the hardware measured and passed through to the software. They are placing a value on the R&D time to be able to calculate those additional parameters for the $5,000 model, and from what it looks like it is just enabling those parameters to be passed to the app. They aren't doing much different on the software side, just allowing the readings to be visible. Kind of like how you can install an entire CAD application, have all of the features on your computer, but you are only able to utilize the features/modules that you have licensed and have authenticated.

sooo....what would TM say about FS (as far as limitations)......and what would FS say about TM (as far as limitations).......i'd really like to know the quick and dirty on the head to head.....

Trackman never talks about others or try to show them in a negative way. All TM is doing is talking about their own, great product.

If I remember correctly didn't Flightscope lose a Patent Infringement Lawsuit in Germany to Trackman?... I've had the opportunity to use both and they seem nearly identical. Just waiting for prices to drop sub 10K... TM/FS are the best practice tools money can buy. takes the guesswork out.
