ES14 only measures club head speed and ball speed.

Does not measure spin, spin axis, launch angle, azimuth or anything else...especially carry distance.

You have to input your club (so they can estimate launch angle) and direction left straight or right (dunno why).

Shouldn't be called a launch monitor. It's like having 2 ball speed radar units ($90 or so), one for club head, one for ball. That's it.

I am digging the flight scope anyone have the chance to use the ipad interface and get some real hands on feel.
[/quote]I have both the gc2/hmt (for indoor) and just bought the Flightscope X2. Both great. The ipad interface is great, too. Looking forward to the Ping fitting tool as well.

You should search for info on the Xi.

I find this info and this entire thread very helpful so thank you to all of you for your input.

I am still in the realm of this being a bit too much money for me to fork over but as posters said above, I love the direction we are moving w/ the pricing. I can only assume it will allow 'average joes' the ability to eventually get their hands on this equipment.

I got some information yesterday on the Flightscope Xi and Xi+. I was originally thinking the Xi would be perfect for me, but based on my discussions yesterday you can only use the iPad skills app with the Xi. The fitting app (with I believe is the one shown in the iPad photo on the first page of this thread) can only be used with the Xi+. With the skills app, you can't just go hit 15 or 20 shots at the range with a club and see your data, you would have to set up a game (for example saying you want to hit 10 100 yard shots and 15 125 yard shots). For me, this takes away from how I would want to use the device. That said, if atone has used the skills app and has different thoughts I would like to hear them.

Based on that, I am comparing the Xi+ to the GC2. Both have iPad interfaces and data that appear similar based on my research. For the GC2, you can just use the unit and the iPad app without purchasing additional software, so it is just the cost of the unit (same as the Xi+). The GC2 is more expensive, but I am trying to figure out which one would fit my needs best. I would like to use it at the range and then in my garage or backyard with a net. For the indoor or backyard set up, the only detriment I see to the Flightscope is that you have to have 13 feet of ball flight (in addition to 8 feet behind where you are hitting), so I am trying to figure out a net set-up that would work for that ball flight distance.

If anyone has any thoughts, I would certainly appreciate hearing them.

Xi+ will be $5k and the GC2/HMT combo will be $12k+.

That'd make my decision right there.

Also, I was told if I wanted to demo an Xi+ unit, it would be near the middle of March. So, early March shipping date?

Xi ships on the Monday, the 17th.

Edit: Also, I've played around in the Skills app, you can setup these "targets" very quickly by just making pre-set routines that get saved to your "playbook". Easy as starting sensor, opening app, choosing the "routine", hit balls. Yes, the app is focused on points you get by hitting the targets, but you can easily see the available shot data right on the screen.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got the Xi+ app loaded on my Ipad and hit a few shots yesterday. Loving how easy this was to set up. Connected the Ipad with the serial number and set the club put the radar on the ground and was hitting. Now I just need to fool around with it and get comfortable with the interface.
Right now I am super impressed by how idiot proof it is. Kind of a bummer you have to pay for the app after you just ponied up for th radar.

what would you like to see and I will see what I can put together for you? Let me say the doppler unit is super nice but just a white box. The software was designed superbly. Easy interface and lots of ways to see the data. I just need need more help interpreting the data.
