Guys .. I was in that booth on opening day and gents were picking up 5-7 putters at a time .. Mindblowing

If I had the cash for any of these, Id be there all day figuring out which one I'd want more..

I understand the craftsmanship and everything, but are those price points realistic? Are these strictly collector's items?

Not trying to hate, I personally use a 2006 Newport Studio Stainless that I sent to the Custom Shop for some work.

- artificial market value
- outrageously inflated
- unoriginal designs

I don't understand all of the people who are so critical of the price tags on these putters. They are only overpriced if the market stops paying those prices for them. If supply is low, and demand is high, then they will sell for a bunch of money... nothing wrong with that.

That said, there sure are some beautiful putters in this thread. The Cameron & Co 009 Twisty is probably my favorite.

If TR was sacked then I wonder if it had anything to do with Scotty Cameron wandering by TR's booth and seeing a bunch of his putters marked up 400% (or more) and still seeing customers walk out with 5 of them in hand???

Probably more like a financial call... Make em even more Limited and you'll start seeing prices north of 20,000 on a regular basis...

Line your pockets while you can isn't necessarily a bad thing... But it sure does remove the passion from the product IMO

I seriously thought they called him Don cuz he had some Godfather complex. Nearly a year and a half later I came across his on a Bettinardi thread.

Oh please... don't try to compare the most recognizable athlete on the planet to a putter maker. It's apples and oranges.

Here are a few other "well known facts" that the vast majority of average golfers don't know:
-There are people who will pay $10,000+ for a putter... and there are putters that command that price.
-There is a difference in head shape between an 009 and a Newport (if they even know what an 009 is).
-It is possible to get a putter custom made for you, and you don't just have to pick the production model you like best.
-Putters have loft (you'd be surprised how many people don't know that).

Just because you have known something for a long time, doesn't mean that everyone else has also been exposed to that information, as well.
