Is my golf bag defective?

MY wife bought me a Sun Mountan MPB bag and I absolutely hate the thing. For some reason the legs just keep spreading there is nothing to limit the spread and the bag falls right down to the floor just like Bambi on ice. I also hate the putter holder and the way it takes up pocket space and the fact it doesn't have a regular handle. Anybody else have this bag? I really appreciate my wifes gesture, but it just wasn't what i wanted.

I would say that your bag may indeed be defective, if it falls to the floor. I did notice that my MPB spreads wider than my old TM bag did, but it hasn't fallen to the floor yet, even on tile. On grass I can't see how it could fall. I look at the wider base as more steady on side hills.

As for the ball pockets eaten up with the putter tube, it is a fact. I still can put in tons of balls, howeverr, if I need to. I like the putter tube, and just consider it a trade off, as I couldn't find any other bag with the same features as the MPB, especially the 14 full length dividers. I also couldn't touch the closeout price at TGW for my MPB.

Well it doesn't spread on grass, but in my garage or on concrete, like around the clubhouse it falls right to the ground. The worse thing my wife paid $135 and it was the previous years model.

Something doesn't seem right. I own a MPB too and I've never experienced this problem. Maybe Sun Mountain's customer service can give you a recommendation.

hmmm...Mine is last years as well..I think the color is called steel blue/grey. It looks like you could put some sort of block under the bag where the stand foot contacts it, and that would limit the spread, but I think that it probably really is an issue with the bag and Sun Mountain shuold stand behind it.

Yeah, maybe I should try calling them. I temporarily rigged it with some zip ties to limit the width of the legs. This was ok for awhile, then it started opening too narrow and it was falling over. To top things off I was walking 18 and it kept falling over so I decided to take off the zip tie. Like a dummy I broke the zip tie with my left hand and really hurt my hand in the process, it has been sore for about 4 weeks now. Especially when I swing the longer clubs. So that makes me even more pissed off about the whole deal. I guess I will call Sun Mountain and see what they say.
