Vegas? trip, any decent package deals?

One of my sons (the golfing one :) ) has vacation Feb 17-22 so I am giving him a golf week with me as an Xmas gift (kinda kills two birds...). We fly Denver to Vegas (although Vegas is no. 1 choice, due to flight costs, nightlife, etc it's not out of the question if anyone knows another smart destination).

 

I'd like to play Dragon Ridge, TPC Vegas and Reflection Bay at least. Does anyone know of decent package vendors, or stay and play candidates? We will frequent the Strip at night, but don't need to stay there if package makes sense.

 

All options are open (if someone has better golf choices). Thx

I head out every year in January (9 day countdown). Spend 4 days with my buddies, then stay 2 extra to play some golf. They're becoming rec golfers but still can't convince them to play out there yet.

 

I'll throw you my recommendations, including what I've gathered from others here.

 

Stay and Play:

I'm not accustomed to any stay and play, I'm a frequent Atlantic City goer so most of my trip is comped on the strip.

 

Package Deals:

Pauite Golf Resort (haven't played yet, but heard good things) - They run a deal that gives you essential 2 rounds and lunch in a day for like $159 or offer like 20% bounce back discounts if you return within a few days. 3 courses there. The deals are pretty self-explanatory on their website. The only downsides to Pauite - it's pretty far from the strip, and from what I've heard, it's almost always windy, and if it's very windy, it's like a hurricane out there, but other than that I haven't heard anything bad about them.

 

Rio Secco & Cascata - It looks like they run a special $299 to play Rio Secco and Cascata (within 5 days). I'm not sure if there's any constraints on time or what not, but Cascata's base rate is $299 and Rio Secco is $200 I think. This may only be for January though, not sure. I played Cascata last year and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind shelling out a bit of cash. The golf and whole experience is world class, and I'm making it a point to go back.

 

My Course Recommendations:

Cascata - played last year, top notch, see above.

 

Wolf Creek - if you're willing to make the long drive (and have a rental car), Wolf Creek is worth a go. You'll see mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed it. Just expect a long boring drive, and a long round, but there's casino's in mesquite if you have the itch before you drive back.

 

Reflection Bay - My caddie at Cascata last year told me that I should not play another course in Vegas without going to Reflection Bay first. So naturally that's on my list this year. I've heard nothing but good reviews about it on here either.

 

Bali Hai - If you're staying on the strip with no car or want to stay close. You really can't beat Bali. It's a little overpriced (you can get equal or better for $150-180 greens fee elsewhere), but It's a solid golf course, it's close and if you really look at the price. The greens fee plus uber/taxi to anywhere else is going to cost you the same as walking/taking the bus/>$10 uber to Bali Hai.

My dad and I were in Vegas last January and we ended up using VIP golf services (first trip to Vegas for golf). They did a great job and recommended some great courses.

 

We ended up playing The Wolf (most recommended) at Paiute and it was a great experience! A bit of a drive but the complex is set on reservation land with no homes in sight. It's probably always going to be windy out there, but its definitely worth the trip!
