Hitting Net/mat setup for garage

I am looking for a hitting mat and net that I can easily set up and break down in my garage. My friend has this below, but I had no idea it would be so expensive. Is there a comparable option for less money?

A few years ago I purchased a 10x10x10 "hitting cage" without the frame.  I mounted some hooks into the ceiling joists and suspended the net using those.  I had a steel pipe that I used to connect and disconnect the s hooks on the net from the hooks.  It was a bit cumbersome (moreso making sure the s hooks remained accessible when taking the net down). 

 

I have since permanently mounted it to the ceiling of my garage and rigged up a simple pulley system that will pull it up into the ceiling.  Basically I zip tied a pvc pipe to the bottom of the net, ran rope through the pvc, tied one side of the rope to an eye hook in the ceiling, ran the other side though a pulley so that the net would swing up into the ceiling.  It's not perfect but it's a garage so it doesn't need to win any beauty contests .  When it's pulled up all the way, it droops about a foot, but it keeps the garage fully functional and it takes less than a minute to drop it down and pull it up.

I did something similar a few years ago in my small workshop. The ceiling is low so I can only swing up to about an 8 iron down there, but it's helpful when working through new concepts. 

 

One thing I learned the hard way is that balls don't always go toward the net when you're working on a new feel. So my biggest advice for anyone setting up a temporary solution is to be sure to consider where a ball might go if it happens to come off the hosel instead of the face. 

 

You also want to have enough slack in the bottom of your net and/or a catch basin of some sort to keep balls from bouncing when they land and skittering all over the place. I made mine from PVC but it proved over time to not be all that durable. Wood would be a better idea.
